I dunno guys, that sounded less like ass kissing and more like a backhanded compliment to me. And to suggest that Minshew sets some acting bar that Lucci should be proud to have met? Jigga please.

I have this image of someone hanging him off a balcony by his ankles saying, "No one [!@#$%^&*] with Susan Lucci."

That's Helmut.

I thought that too. It backs up my "hanging him from the balcony" image. I figured he cried and wet his pants when he was being dangled over the pavement and decided to use the AM reference as a form of passive-aggressive pushback. I think Helmut may have to pay him another visit.

On another topic: YAY for the return of RJ! Glad to see someone at OLTL has at least a partially functional frontal lobe.

This sounds like Nelson's typical wishful thinking. Andrea Evans needs to stay unemployed, I don't want to see her "act" again.
Wow, I thought I was the only one that thought this and especially at Y&R as Katherine's daughter and Amber's mother? No way!

It would help if he told this Jillian exactly what parts she should enjoy watching. Boring Starr? The horrible Gigi? Boring Marty? The way they've turned the Buchanans into self-righteous brats?

This is something which I see with OLTL and various soap columnists, people say the show is on fire, or is brilliant, but I don't actually see solid discussion of what works and doesn't work on the show. This means if a new viewer does tune in, they're more likely to see the show as wildly overhyped, not a work in progress, and tune back out.

“Yes, I love Maria Bell. I love what she is writing. Honestly, I loved when Josh Griffith was writing the show, when Lynn Latham was gone because of the [the writers’] strike. It was amazing and we miss Josh. I think with Maria, it's great, too. She knows the history of the show, which is something Lynn Latham did not know. So it's great having someone who knows the show and how to write it.”

—Y&R’s Christel Khalil (Lily) in an interview with Michael Fairman’s On Air On Soap

Puh-lease! Since when is CH so knowledgeable on the history of YR?

That's exactly what I said! Reminded me of Leven all galled talking about her temp recast playing HER part, and here we knew both Lilies before either actress even knew her own name. See, this is why I hate young people.

Christel Khalil may have liked Josh Griffith...but Maria Arena Bell certainly didn't!

Christel is likely just pissed that Paul Rauch doesn't allow her to slack like Griffith did.

She's been there since 2002. She had outta had known who was writing her stuff. Go on and roll your eyes back now.

Yes, but as quiet as it's kept, Y&R had been on the air for a couple of years before Miss Khalil hit the scene. As if she's at all concerned with the show's history prior to her first day. :D

The thing is Paul Rauch does not put up with any BS. He has been in this business for almost 40 years and he is known as one of the hardest, toughest, and demanding executive producers ever. He has been known to make people cry on the set, he is that hard. Even Laura Koffman said when she first auditioned for Cassie in front of Paul Rauch she prepared herself well but OMG she said he was so intimidating. Paul only demands excellence and is so old school. It is great daytime has brought someone who has been in this business for so many years and is doing old classic soap. IMO Rauch has been the perfect fit for Y&R. Griffith is a writer not a producer and it showed onscreen. The show looks 10 times more expensive under Rauch. It is so lush, gorgeous, and the old Y&R music is back. Going back to the Bell way of doing it and that is why Y&R is so successful. Rauch has been a match made in heaven for Y&R. Maria Arena Bell is getting all this credit when pre-Paul the show was so blah and BORING. I got Christel does not like Paul, Paul is not there to do with whiny immature kids. He wants you to work and work very very hard.

My money is on Helmet, he's her 'heavy' in every other situation. Funny thing is, I can actually sort of see La Lucci ordering something like that...maybe it's because she played a Mafia princess in some 80s TV movie, maybe it's because she's so polished in her behavior that you just *know* she's got another side to her, maybe it's because she's half Italian and has money and lives in New York...or maybe it's just because No One [!@#$%^&*] With Susan Lucci and that's the bottom line...

If Debbi Morgan is actually nominated for Lead Actress Daytime Emmy, she'd be the first African-American actress ever to do so.

Debbi won the award in 1989. She tied for it with Nancy Lee Grahn.
