Soap Stars/Singers

Many soap stars have dabbled in music at some stage, either before, during or after their soap careers.

Thought it might be fun to brainstorm these performers. You can critique their musical abilities if you like.

To get the ball rolling...

Ronn Moss (Ridge B&B) was a part of Player, who had a #1 with Baby Come Back.I think they were a one hit wonder.

Usher played Raymond on B&B when he was an up and coming music star.

Nia Peeples(Karen Y&R) hit the charts in the 80's with a dance/pop sound

Who else can you add to the list?

Mary Stuart was one of the first. She recorded an album called Joanne Sings (tied into her character on SFT) in 1954. She recorded this with the Percy Faith Orchestra.

Then Rosemary Prinz was the first official tie in who was sought out by record companies. She recorded an album tied into her Penny character in the mid 1960's.

A few years later Eileen Fulton was sought out as well due to her popularity.

Bill Hayes was one of the first musical stars to turn to soap operas. He had many Top 10 hits in the 1950s and 1960s before joining Days of Our Lives as Doug Williams. He has a #1 hit version of The Ballad of Davey Crockett in the 50's.

Patty Weaver is another who recorded albums after making it on soaps in the 70's.

Dennis Parker in addition to his porn career before soaps also had a hit record.

I'll probably think of others later but these were the first to come to mind.

Don't know if it counts, but Joshua Morrow was part of a boy band called 3Deep with former co-star, Eddie Cibrian. They released a couple of CD's and were pretty popular in Canada from what I gather. :)

RealLily (Martha Byrne) had a CD out. She sang on the show (mostly during the Damian Grimaldi years) and she was very good.

A lot of soap stars past and present have done musical theatre--David Andrew Macdonald, Paul Anthony Stewart, Richard Muenz (RH), Robert Newman, to name a few.

I've had that song on my iPod for a long time! Love it. Ron Moss has got to be one of the cheesiest actors in daytime, though.

I love the Percy Faith ochestra.

I own that CD. Not quite sure why. It's certainly dated now.

Adrianne Leon (Y&R's previous Colleen) actually was a singer/songwriter on GH before she started acting. She and her band Caught Crimson are currently working on their debut album.

Oh five that I just thought of. Don't think they have been mentioned:

kassie DePaiva - her son Angel of Mine is going to be played at my daughter's wedding next June

Brad Maule - country music

Scott Reeves - member of the country band Blue Canyon

Wally Kurth

Mary Gordon Murray - portrayed country music singer Becky Lee Abbott on OLTL; recorded her own music too

From ATWT:

- Eileen Fulton (Lisa) sings and performs cabaret

- Gregg Marx (ex-Tom) also performs frequently now in cabaret in the Los Angeles area

- Those who have sung at the Mona Lisa: Anne Sward (Lyla), Kathryn Hays (Kim), Tonya Pinkins (ex-Heather Dalton), and Eileen Fulton

- Kathryn Hays and Don Hastings (Bob) used to perform in duo shows in the 70s called Hastings and Hays on Love

- Lisa Brown (ex-Iva) performed in "42nd St" on Broadway in the late 70s/early 80s

- Scott Holmes (Tom) used to sing in Xmas shows

There may be others, but these are what I can readily recall...

Country superstar Tammy Wynette played Darlene on Capitol.

Rex Smith had the hit You take My Breath Away before appearing on ATWT as Darryl,Frannie Hughes' husband.

Bobbie Eakes also was in a girl band in the early 80's and they made a couple of videos. She did a country duet a few years back with someone whose name I can't recall.
