as it says above:
Voting experts have long warned that comparing voting rolls to DMV data is not a reliable way to find non-citizens on the rolls because there may be paperwork errors and people can become naturalized after getting their driver’s license. The plaintiffs in the lawsuit said they had identified several people who were in fact citizens but had their registrations wrongly canceled.  Over 1600 voters were removed from Virginia's voting rolls, including some citizens who were born in Virginia.
Federal courts had ruled that the voters needed to be restored, so the State(Commonwealth) of Virginia took it to the U.S. Supreme Court, asking that the restoration be stopped.

Update Wednesday October 30:
https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2024/oct/30/supreme-court-virginia-voter-registration

The U.S. Supreme Court ruled that Virginia does not have to restore the registrations of 1,600 voters, some of whom appear to have been wrongly removed.

The Virginia attorney general, Jason Miyares, a Republican, praised the U.S. Supreme Court’s action, saying it would “keep noncitizens off our voter rolls”.

Virginia, which is predicted to vote for Kamala Harris this fall, provides same-day voter registration, allowing anyone who was wrongfully removed to re-register at the polls.

My response to the above:
With six days to go, how will they reach all those voters who were wrongly removed, to tell them to go vote anyhow with whatever documentation might be needed?  Hopefully the lawsuit has a list of everyone and how to reach them.

I have no problem with removing ineligible voters. But 6 days before an election? Fascist tactics…not unsurprising.

The point was that some of them were *eligible* voters who born and raised in Virginia, or legally naturalized citizens, and never should have been removed to begin with.  They were already removed during the past few months. It was an automated process that had a lot of errors.  There was a lawsuit, and the federal district court judge said they should be restored.
The issue now is that six days before the election, the U.S. Supreme Court overruled the other judge and now says that Virginia doesn't have to restore these voters to the voting rolls.

Yes I agree that it's fascist tactics!

They need to vote! There can be attention to it but if they don't vote why be angry.

As Michelle said....Do something! Vote!!

Absolutely, although I live in a reliably blue state.

Here's my take on "garbagegate."

It doesn't hurt Harris or Biden at all. We've spent nearly a decade with MAGA cultists harassing the rest of us. How many ruined Thanksgivings, middle school track meets, high school graduations, etc... are people supposed to accept?

Normal people are tired of these sick freaks and might actually like hearing the truth spoken for once.

For me, that's the main takeaway: people (who are rational and who give a damn) are just plain burned out by all things MAGA.  We're not even outraged by anything those sick mofos say or do anymore; we just want them to shut up and go away.

Wired has quite a story on Musk's corrupt GOTV operation (which Twitter may be preventing us from embedding).

Yep

Here is the thing also. If things are going so well for Trump?

1. Why the red wave polls?

2. Why the election rigging narrative

3. Why the rigging of the market betting indicator like Polymarket, which by the way, no one in the US can use.

Campaigns confident they are winning don't have to do this.

I'd agree if it wasn't Trump. Most of the betting markets are scams/money sinkers for his backers, but they are also comfort blankets, because Trump believes he should be winning everywhere. The polls that come out that are on his side serve the same purpose. In 2016 Trump and his people were claiming that it was rigged, even though his campaign often dominated the narrative and ended up winning. After he won, he still went around claiming that votes were suppressed, and he was cheated.

So Nicky Jam has renounced his support of Trump because of the Puerto Rican issue.  He posted an instagram message to his 43 plus million followers

Why he believed Trump was better for the economy is beyond me. One risk with these celebs is that many of them are just as misinformed as the rest.

From what was said at the time, he mostly just had one hit and was trying to latch onto something that would get him attention or a new audience. He faced so much backlash at the time (and humiliation as Trump thought he was a woman), he must be thrilled he got his escape hatch.

50 Cent said that he was offered $3 million to perform at the RNC or the MSG hate rally but declined. They are chasing the male demo at literally any cost. No wonder they keep having that piece of [!@#$%^&*] Hulk Hogan struggling to tear his shirt off.

I don't know what normal people means in 2024 America. I know what I wish it meant, but we see all these polls claiming that so many believe they were better off four years ago, that Trump is at his most popular ever, and even if I don't believe polls, there's still so many out there who love Trump, in public and press.

I know I don't have a problem with what Biden said, but CNN pushing the line, it being used against Democrats in Congressional races, and Walz and Harris both having to forcefully push back against Biden's comment tells me that it did hit a nerve.

I think the worst aspect is that we went from Republicans being (relatively) divided over the hate rally to having a rallying cry. The optics of them getting to blast Harris and Biden for saying half the country is garbage (with it not mattering that none of this is accurate) at Trump's events, while Harris was repeatedly heckled and jeered by assholes at her events today, aren't great as a closing campaign message. Unity, whatever unity means today, is now with the other side in these closing days.

I hadn't seen these comments from Pete Buttigieg, but as it turns out, he was right.

More from North Carolina and Nevada. The Nevada one is interesting to me as it helps explain 2022 (where Democrats scraped through but lost the gubernatorial race) and the possible early vote this year.

Black turnout is lagging in North Carolina, a warning sign for Harris - POLITICO

This seems likely to come down to the Blue Wall. Hopefully the recent polls of Trump winning PA aren't accurate (one is from Quinnipac, which sucks all around).

Meanwhile, Trump is getting fawning press for posing in a garbage truck (which along with the latest stunt House probe into the matter is another reminder of what a gift the comment has been to them), but they likely will not be speaking of this image:
