You weren’t the only one who thought this could happen. Just more of her trying to squeeze what little leverage she might muster. JMO but I doubt it will go the way she wants or expects. She doesn’t have the experience or ‘miles under her belt’ of a Joe Lieberman and I haven’t seen what allies she has managed to scrounge up. She didn’t even begin her Senate career with much goodwill. We’ll see how this goes.

I actually don’t think she’s that smart. John McCain with his pedigree somehow got the reputation of bring a mavericks(he wasn’t), but even with that he never left the GOP, He certainly had a lot more credibility than she does and I think his constituents respected him.

And all these folks saying most independents are dems are FOS. Sienna has no ideology except bring a sellout

She's a sociopath, but that's fine. We have the seats we need to hold the line.

I'm not scared of Sinema. I think she has profoundly underestimated how much AZ Dems hate her. Nor do I agree that she is 'level headed and brilliant'.

Hopefully House Democrats are acting with some sense of urgency. I feel as if I hear more about what Democrats in the Senate want to achieve but not the House Democrats, which could be a function of a lack of thorough reporting of what’s happening on Capitol Hill. DACA seems to only get mentioned when someone makes a threat to take it away.

Apparently, Bout had been scheduled for release in 2029, he wasn’t given the maximum sentence due to a lack of evidence.

As much as I despise Tulsi Gabbard, at least she had the one iota of awareness that her political capital as a ‘public servant’ had waned and sought to exit. She’ll end up going the way of Sarah Palin, as a novelty for Fox News Channel for however long they choose to tolerate her and she’s got about as much political influence as Sinema these days.

If race was not an issue, the culture would be thrilled at the idea of a thawing of the diplomatic relationship with Russia that could be used to solve the crisis in Ukraine, rather than arguing if other prisoners were more worthy of freedom.

We have elevated the voices of the fringes of our society to the point where it feels like everything is subject to debate.  When in reality those are the opinions of a very small, racial charged, minority who fear that any opportunity given to a lesbian woman of color (even being released from a forced labor camp) alters the focus away from their agenda.

While comparing torture is grotesque, I also think most Americans are prone to be neglectful of what it would be like to be a person of color in a Russian prison as opposed to a white man.  Our country is so accustomed to the idea that 40% of prisoners are black, they we may forget how rare that would be in Russia, and how much race, gender, and sexuality would effect their treatment.

I see Kyrsten Sinema is still an opportunistic attention wh0re. Her defection from the Democratic Party is probably the only honest thing she has done.

But this isn't about free thinking, but "who will kiss my ass/line my pockets the most?!" for her...

    • In the 1987 episodes, Mary has wonderful conversations with MJ and Cheryl. This is a realistic family with believable dynamics. Mary's ambivalence towards Vince is played nicely. Denise Alexander is so good here. I don't know what happened that the writers or producers just decided to chuck it all away. I don't FF these scenes. The show had a strong family that could have had years of storyline and they did nothing with them. I really don't get it.
    • I can't speak for Sonni, but I thought Annie came off as neurotic from very early on. That's just how Cynthia Watros plays her parts, and the writing went along. I don't think Claire was mentally ill - they claimed she had a brain tumor, didn't they? I am never sure just why they made the effort given that she was leaving anyway.
    • @DeeVee Claire is a perfect example. So many women came to Springfield as competent, smart, and talented professionals. Then they’d attract a so-called “good guy,” get dumped, and spiral into complete chaos. What always strikes me is how clearly it plays like a male fantasy—yet it was written and sold to a female audience.  I'm not a content expert, but I don't think cis gendered women fantasize about losing control of their mental faculties in response to an orgasm. Similar to Holly's story, it seems repulsive, because I don't believe women fantasize about becoming more vulnerable and appealing to men after they've been assaulted.
    • I just watched some parts of an episode of GL where Roger has just been shot by Holly. Rita then admits to Hillary that Roger raped her. Kasdorf is such a fantastic actress. I wish there were more of her work available.
    • -- Alex Alegria has almost a full sleeve tattoo on one arm and a large tatt on one pec. I see no indication that the show is covering up his ink,
    • Didn't Carrie2 even seduce a minor? Ick. Oh, yeah, and she even tried to seduce Alan, but this was his post-prison era when he was trying to prove to everyone he had changed. It's funny that of all people he didn't go for it. Wait. Josh had an affair with Vanessa? Or she just thought he did? I know people always say "it's just a soap" but the way mental illness is portrayed on soaps (and that goes for pretty much all of them) has always been not great, especially PPD. They practically turned Claire into The Joker. She also was trying to seduce men. (I notice that now Mary Ryan Munisteri is listed as co HW with Ryder in the 1986 episodes, Claire has calmed down a lot. Never thought her GL career was very good but seems like she tried to course correct that a bit).
    • sss Ms. Tunie is a goddess. I feel all the anger, pride, sadness, arrogance, dignity, fear, love, and other emotions in everything she does as Anita.
    • You're right. People like me who stuck with her, did so because of her history. The show just skated her along with no story,  no goal, no aim. Right again! This is who I forgot before. When you describe her, it makes me appreciate her more. Thinking back I loved Mandy.
    • Maybe Guza is becoming Y&R Head writer and Jilly will be named EP! Remember CBS installed Latham as consultant and later Mal Young, both of whom took over the show. Of course, they each got credit during the consulting days.
