Members DramatistDreamer
The New Zealand PM Jacinda Ardern gives me hope that New Zealand will emerge from this tragedy with stronger systems in place for preventing this type of tragedy in that country going forward. Members AdelaideCate007
The Ilhan Omar story has been in the news here a pretty fair amount. A lot of our right wing/conservative really love Trump and want Trumpism to spread down here so they bring up anything he's involved in or says and use it as an excuse to why he's right and we need to all follow his lead. We have a lot of fringe right wing crazies (like the shooter) and they've gotten very emboldened by Trump and the American Republicans.
Members DramatistDreamer
You're in Australia, right? That's a shame. Thinking about that post that I made, I probably shouldn't have made a generalization about New Zealanders, in general but keep it to those who were directly affected by the mosque attacks on Friday. Most likely, right now they have far pressing concerns on their minds, like burying their dead. It just reminded me about how just days after 9/11 many in the U.S. were already beating the war drums and most New Yorkers (myself included) were just concerned about how we were going to pull our daily lives back together into something that resembled a normal routine.

Members marceline
Beto's in Cleveland today. It's telling that he's doing his appearance at a restaurant that's a fave with the factory workers in the area because it's right by the steel mill. Members Khan
The Republican representative was accused of having sex with an incapacitated woman against her will. Apparently, that's the only way some Republicans can have sex. Amirite, Brett Kavanaugh? ;)
Members JaneAusten
There is also a name for that act. Exactly why is the news media not calling the act by it's name? All of it darn sick
Members Khan
Yep. It's called "frat party antics." I'm kidding.
Members JaneAusten
Oh I know you're kidding but don't think there is not a reason they refuse to refer to it as rape. And you're not far from what they would like to say.

Members DRW50
I hear people talk all the time about how right wing the BBC is and how they are desperately attempting to stay in line with the Tories above all else. Moments like this, where they harass the speaker of the House of Commons and openly brag about it, don't disprove that point. Good luck with any of those morons if they tried this with Nancy Pelosi.
Members DramatistDreamer
Now that Floridians have voted to restore voting rights to former felons (excluding rape and murder, of course), perhaps it was inevitable that the state would try to find a workaround in which to disenfranchise more people.
