My best wishes to John McCain and his family. For all my issues with him he has dedicated his life to service to his country.

Meanwhile: This one is for marceline.

While Americans love to use the term "Third World" as a way to denegrate, guess what?  The so-called Third World is making real strides in healthcare and they are investing in the universal model of care.

I can foresee a time in the near future when it won't just be Canada and Nordic countries that outpace the U.S. in healthcare.

In Health Care, Republicans Could Learn From Rwanda

That article is a great example of why so many tune the NYT out. They repeatedly bury the meat of the article so they can have yet another aside sneering at Republicans, none of whom are going to be reading the article or anything in their paper or on their website. They still seem to have no idea who their audience is.

Well, that might explain his erratic behavior during the Comey hearing.  I hope he makes it through okay.  I don't agree with much of McCain's politics, but I do believe him to be an all-around decent person.

There was obviously something so wrong with him at the hearing. Hopefully they found it in time for him to recover quickly.

Tom Nichols a hard line GOPer has taken a ton of heat on Twitter for his stance and saying that despite the economic anxiety crap that Trump voters are ignorant and racist. He really doesn't care what people say or think to him. He said the latest move on healthcare is proof positive these people care about nothing other than their anger, resentment, and bigotry.

By the way so much #MAGA.  Carrier laying off 300 on the 6 month anniversary of orange aide getting into office.

This is just so tragic for the ones being laid off as well as for their families.  And Trump INSISTS we are winning.  Pfft.

Actually, it's a highly aggressive form of brain cancer. This makes it difficult to treat and a renowned doctor said that it is extremely difficult to get rid of the cancer because even when the tumor is removed, doctors always feel as there are bits of the tumor that were left behind.

There experimental therapies that his doctors might test out, if they choose.

Thanks. Sorry about that. Last night I read it before taking a nap and someone said it was similar to what happened to Jimmy Carter. Clearly not if it got to his brain. Well I wish him the best.

He'd still say it.

I thought this article on cancer was interesting.  I've seen similar sentiments expressed about the constant call for women to "battle" breast cancer.

The Republicans are trying to cut SNAP (no surprise).  Another day another terrible plan to hurt the poor.

From the comments section:

"OK, here's what needs to happen: NY has to file the money-laundering case they have against Trump. Trump cannot pardon state crimes -- only federal ones. Those charges would be the basis for impeachment. Get Trump as far away from pardon powers as possible, as fast as possible."

Didn't you also suggest this course of action, @marceline?  Regardless, I don't think that's an awful idea.  Because, let's be honest: they're never gonna get him on anything connected to Russia.  If they get Trump at all, it's gonna be over money.

IOW, Trump drew a red line, and Mueller just said, "Boy, bye."

At this point, they could literally steal candy out of babies' hands like Mr. Burns and they wouldn't look as bad as they do now.
