Members DRW50
The numbers in Georgia and Nevada still don't look good to me (apparently young voters are way off in Georgia compared to 2020) so hopefully North Carolina can be a nice surprise Tuesday night. The Walz story seems to exist for people who obsess over China and think that Biden/Harris are beholden to China. Something most people won't care about but is potentially effective at driving up turnout among the flank of union voters already leaning their way. The comments at the hate rally are something I think will hurt Democrats if they focus on them too much, because people will just buy into the line about how the left are wimpy and can't take a joke, but they do at least remind voters of the raw ugliness of the GOP, getting away from conversations about fascism and Hitler. The New Republic has always been a mixed bag (just with ever-decreasing writing quality), but some of their articles recently have interested me - mainly about the limited effects of campaigning with Liz Cheney (this wasn't written from a left wing anti-Cheney view and more from the view that any of those voters are likely going to Harris anyway and most of the Lincoln Project were never very successful politically so aren't the best to emulate) and of the fascist argument not really winning anyone over (Politico also said as much in a new article, yet again set with voters in Michigan, who feel the more the race is about Trump the more likely he wins). This is interesting, for lack of a better term, just because it recaps all the levels of misogyny and sexist spewing from Trump and his allies recently. There's some idea which seems to have stuck that the argument is only over abortion, when the GOP is fully committed to humiliating and degrading women. https://newrepublic.com/article/187419/trumps-promise-young-men-retribution-against-women This person is at least one example of a conservative who is voting for Harris, even if he has to make a fuss about it. Hopefully there are enough in swing states (this person is in Missouri). Edited October 29, 2024 by DRW50

Members DramatistDreamer
Even The Hill, a media blog that I normally have very little use for, is stating that the Trump campaign is struggling to contain the crisis they’ve created from the MSG rally. Also, I won’t post it, but has anyone seen the latest cover from the German publication Stern? Just whoa.
Members JaneAusten
I read about it in USA Today. They have gotten a lot of criticism for it which was likely their objective.
Members DramatistDreamer
A Latino Democratic operative raised hundreds of thousands of dollars to be able to send a text blast of Hinchcliffe insulting PR to every registered voter with a mobile phone who identifies as Puerto Rican in the state of Pennsylvania.

Members MichaelGL
Honestly it's crazy how those Apprentice tapes where Trump allegedly says it, have never been made public.
Members JaneAusten
This is excellent. It's a frank discussion. I think O'Brien is right that people don't want to say the word fascism because deep down we can see it. And the other thing is, rather than excusing people for being 'conned', many of these people want it. And don't think this never happened in the US and that fascism has not existed in the US. What exactly do people think 100 years of Jim Crow laws were. And just a reminder, the Nazi's patterned their laws after the Jim Crow laws in the US.
