Even his own kids couldn't stand him mostly because of the way he constantly humiliated their mother. His personal predilections were happily ignored because he pretended to get rid of the mob (hint: he didn't). I won't even get into his abhorrent policies during his mayoral tenure. You all were snowed by his crafted image as "America's Mayor" that he cultivated on the backs of first responders and over the bodies of victims. Giuliani was at minimum a jerk who became increasingly intoxicated with his accumulation of power and at most a venal presence who lacked basic compassion for NYers who were not well-heeled and white. I lived in NYC during Giuliani years and if you think the issues that spurred the BLM movement didn't exist, just look up the names Abner Louima and Amadou Diallo. Chris Rock once "joked" that if you were Black in NYC during the Giuliani years, you could be shot while taking out the garbage in front of your own home. Most Black NYers during that time knew that that was only a slight exaggeration, but not by much. I don't feel one bit sorry for any embarrassment the man has coming his way. I've always remembered you mentioning these things a few years ago, so I'm never surprised when he says crazy things. Allowing himself to be so easily compromised though, ugh. Not just in this particular situation, but all the stuff with Russia, my God. He is dumber than a box of rocks. That's the part that I find so unreal and I truly do wonder if he's gone soft in the head. Maybe he's just a $ell out. Edited October 22, 20205 yr by Juliajms
October 22, 20205 yr Member I agree Fooliani has always been loathsome...but I don't have much use for Sacha Baron Cohen yet again playing these attention whore games with right wing grifters, sucking up media space for tricks that can inadvertently make them seem like victims of a setup or gotcha. He did this with Sarah Palin too a few years ago. He is just too exhausting and feels like he should have been left back to 15 years ago.
October 22, 20205 yr Member Giuliani was elected to office along racially polarized lines and he appealed to the most racist New Yorkers. When conservatives go on and on about how liberal New York is it goes to show how uninformed they are. Staten Island and parts of Queens are as conservative as parts of the Midwest, but just urbanized.
October 22, 20205 yr Member Honestly, I could care less about whatever enterprise SBC has got going but Rudy is so drunk off his supposed proximity to power that he didn't see the trap and FWIW, Stevie Wonder could've seen that trap coming. Marisa Tomei, God bless her once remarked that Giuliani wasn't for New Yorkers, he was for the tourists and the wealthy. That people could ever believe that Rudy was for the "common man", I just...am speechless. Someone once told me that Rudy was a jerk but he got things done. I would have liked to have spoken to that person again when NYC was in a recession by the final months of Rudy's mayoralty. Oh well, at least most of his supporters also knew he was a jerk too.
October 22, 20205 yr Member ^^ That sounds dangerously close to blackmail to me. I'm sure they're perfectly aware of how far they can go though without breaking any law, but it's morally reprehensible.
October 22, 20205 yr Member If they actually raise the rent if Biden wins then the tenants have good cause to challenge the increase in court.

You post actual FACTS and I had 3 "friends" say that they were all lies. They no longer have any recognition of facts or reality.
October 22, 20205 yr Member I think this might be San Elliott doing V.O. but when he says to admit that "we made a mistake..." that deep bass of his voice ran right through me. Vote for change. Vote for our sons. Vote for Joe. pic.twitter.com/gOzl7esv5N — The Lincoln Project (@ProjectLincoln) October 22, 2020 Posting this for Elliot's voice, really.
October 22, 20205 yr Member The cut-short 60 Minutes interview makes Trump look terrible and weak, so of course he posted it himself ahead of time to make things worse for himself. Thread: Another, longer thread:
October 22, 20205 yr Member Lesley Stahl told Pence that she felt he and President Trump had “insulted 60 Minutes” by giving “set campaign speeches” instead of answering her questions. Said Stahl: “Mr. Vice President, this was not a rally. This was not just a campaign speech to the public. This was supposed to be an interview. And the same with the president. And I feel that you both have insulted 60 Minutes by not answering our questions and by giving set campaign speeches that we’ve heard both of you give at rallies without answering our questions.”
