It sounds like there is genuine anti-Semitism and bullying from the extreme left that has a lot of power in Labour now, so I can see why MPs are now leaving, but some of the MPs who are leaving also sound like they are deluded and desperate for attention and some vague glimpse of power.

... and once THEIR bank accounts are hit, some may finally see the light.

At least, that's what's happened with my father. My dad flip-flops, mostly due to economic or financial reasons. He voted for Clinton in '92 and Obama in '08, but voted for Mitt Romney in '12 and would've voted for Trump in '16 if he had voted at all (at least that's what he told me; he may very well have voted).

We've had a few heated arguments since that fateful day in late October 2016 when that bogus "email scandal" conveniently came back to light. He's on the Fox News bandwagon and anti-anything where there's a woman in charge (Hillary first, now he suddenly has issues with Nancy Pelosi having a fence around her own house...).

However, just this past week as I visited my parents, he was on the phone telling off a conservative party representative pandering for more money, telling the poor fool on the phone that he no longer supports the conservative party because --- yup --- he now OWES 8K in taxes this year, something he's never faced in years and years. So all the other horrible, despicable, inhumane acts of the Republican party didn't raise a red flag for him until it affected his own pocketbook.

P.S. I too was raised in a very strong Lutheran household...

My household was Assembly of God (Charismatic).  Most of those mother fuckers need shock therapy and a potent Thorazine drip.

My parents actually voted for Clinton both times, but I think that goes back to the fact that he was a southerner.  People are very strange in this part of the nation.  The good ole boy mentality isn't as prevalent in my generation (GenX) and younger, but with Baby Boomers it's still very much a reality.

We saw what eventually happened with George W Bush. I loathed that man.  Many liberals today have looked back and felt that he wasn't all that bad.  They get all kinds of feels when Michelle Obama passes him a cough drop. GMAFB!   Saying he's better than Trump is not saying much at all.  The fact that we have to compare them proves that Bush was an incompetent fool too.  His illegal war damaged some of my best friends for life.  Anyone that now wants to claim that W is a decent man, and revisit the 2000's with rose colored glasses, can take all the seats.  That man does not get merit for ruining the Middle East and sinking our economy.  You don't give a dog a bone for pissing on the carpet.  You just don't.

That debacle woke my generation up, and it pushed the nation more to the left.  Trump is going to eventually screw up so royally, that the less extreme part of his base will desert him.  He will always have the white nationalist.  They would support him if he chose to tare down the Statue of Liberty and build a damn casino.  They will always align themselves with him.  However, those that are not as extreme will fall out with the man.  It's more a matter of when, and how it will occur.

Mama Khan -- again, a Trump supporter/Obama and Hillary basher -- filed her taxes several weeks ago.  She doesn't owe anything this year -- which is good, since she's still paying her tax bill from last year.  However, even with the increased standard deduction, she got bupkis from the federal, and only $80 from the state.

Elections have consequences and any Trump voter that gets their land seized gets exactly what they voted for. It's unlikely they would prevail in a court challenge because of a conservative majority on the court. If they actually get their land seized they are pretty much out of luck.

I can finally say it: he looked hot today  And Vaughn was looking pretty hot too. Just what I needed after a long, annoying day  And the rest of the episode was pretty good too, especially Tracy/Brook Lynn. Seriously, Jane elevates every episode that she's in. She works so well with everybody. I was also impressed by Amanda Setton as well I also liked Rocco's nervousness/nerdiness at the party as well. It felt very real, and a little familiar too  Hope he ends up being ok.
    • Fortunately she's got probably a good bit in the can already!!! LOL! I saw this item earlier in the day. I guess she was not on contract. I put this under spoiler space for you.
    • I just read that Alice Halsey, the new young Rachel, has just landed the role of Laura Ingalls on the Netflix reboot of Little House on The Prairie. https://deadline.com/2025/05/little-house-on-the-prairie-laura-ingalls-cast-alice-halsey-1236383465/ Soooo...I don't see her remaining on Days for too long.
    • Jason, can you give me those dates, pretty please? If so, I'll do an edit of her. She was such a delight.
    • Sure, babe. I found those once when I was desperately searching for an Alexandra Spaulding dinner party date & I literally struck out everywhere else. We should throw a cyber party & invite Matt Smith & ChickenNuggetz* & whoever helps them with the Vault & Jason47 & Eddie Drueding ...
    • My late mom remembered Jordan Clarke as Tim Ryan.. and she said he was vastly different than Billy.  She also said she remembered that Rita and Evie were more tangled up with Tim when both came on the show.. while he ended up leaving with another character.   Then Rita was moved into the Ed/Holly orbit taking on the scheming traits of Holly (this was around the time of the original Holly leaving), and Evie got pulled into Ben's orbit.. but not sure if this was during his brief relationship with Hope or not.
    • Not Doug acting like people felt Dani might act during this Ted reveal.   Awww an Andre/Eva scene.    Oooo Silk Press Sheila and her crazy woman music.    MMmmmm...multiple cliffhangers!!!! Kat vs Eva. Nicole vs Ted.    Awww hell no!!! Not Silk Press Sheila confronting the Duprees. Anita might eat her alive. lol. And I was never so glad as to not see them. I was already annoyed at Vanessa/Doug interrupting the action. I actually might have felt a way about seeing them. For once. lol. I do think they were edited out though.   I mean...it's kinda hard NOT to look so      Ooooo I didn't think about that.
    • Rest in peace, Ruth Buzzi! Laugh In was before my time, but from the clips I have come across on YouTube, she was a very funny lady. Prayers to her loved ones.
    • First, Martin vs Ted. Now Kat vs Ted.
