Melrose Place Spinoff: Discussion Thread

And to add, the CW has officially renewed Supernatural, Smallville, One Tree Hill, America's Next Top Model, 90210 and Gossip Girl for 2009-2010.

They've also officially ordered a pilot for the Melrose Place remake/spin-off, so odds are, it will make the fall lineup. Nothing is official, of course, but the odds look good, IMO.

I personally see the Melrose remake being better than 90210. Just from the descriptions, the characters sound way more interesting. It's just all about the presentation.

And with Jake's son being a part of the cast, I think we'll for sure see Grant Show at one point.

Do we even know if they're for sure using the "same apartment" building? Wouldn't they have to completely rebuild the set and who's to say it'd even look nearly the same?

From 'Swingtown' to 'Melrose Place'

And the first actor cast in the new "Melrose Place" is ... Michael Rady.

The "Swingtown" alum landed the gig Wednesday morning, a day after the CW officially greenlighted the pilot for the "Melrose" update, to be directed by Davis Guggenheim.

On the CBS Par project, penned by "Smallville" exec producers/co-showrunners Todd Slavkin and Darren Swimmer, Rady will play Jonah Miller, a cute and quirky 25-year-old aspiring filmmaker who makes his living as a videographer of weddings and bar mitzvahs for the rich and famous after moving to Los Angeles with his fiancee a year ago.

The role is somewhat reminiscent of struggling writer Billy (Andrew Shue) from the original Fox series.

In addition to his role as summer school philosophy teacher Doug Stephens on "Swingtown," Rady co-starred in "The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants 2" and recurred on Showtime's "Sleeper Cell" and ABC Family's "Greek."

He is repped by Gersh and Station 3.

Good, I liked him as the teacher on Swingtown and he totally fits Jonah's character description.

WOW Where the hell have I been at I had no idea they were remaking MP This is great and I can't wait to watch. I miss REAL primetime soaps. Been a long time since I followed one. I think the last one was MP

I wonder if Pratt has the primetime itch once again, Hey Pratt MP Part Deux is calling your name :)

I'm sure he'll get paid without even being involved. U know Mrs.Spelling will make out like a bandit.

I think they should do a remake of 21 Jump Street. Was that a Spelling show?

Oh wow....that is very questionable casting! I don't hate Ashlee, so I'll give her a chance. But I would've prefered someone hotter to play the "calculating, shrewd sex kitten within".

She's suppose to be Amy Locane's character. That character was written out after 13 episodes and never personally appealed to me as interesting.

^^ You're kidding right?!! I so hope she won't get it!

I'm not having any negative feelings about Ashlee Simpson joining the cast. I just have to wait and see until I judge her.
