The additional three episodes added to the final ratings number.

Finishing Touches garnered 22.1 rating and 35 share.

The cliffhanger with Abby being kidnapped and Karen being shot garnered 23.8 rating and 38 share. I believe it ended up in the top 5 shows for the week.

I was just coming to post that Knots Landing is trending on TwitX! Seems people are thrilled to finally have it stream and are watching/commenting as they do!

I wish my mom was still here to watch it again. She was a faithful viewer every Thursday night.

I've put the channel on record and am recording from the media source. I think of just leaving it on the laptop to record without watching and when I have the whole show recorded, I will start from episode 1. Right now it's season 6, episode 25...

Does anyone know if they will start from season 1, episode 1 as soon as the final season is aired in couple of days?

Well, for starters, I don't think I've watched anything else since I first turned it on yesterday lol It took no time at all for me to get deep into the story and characters. I mean, I've already known the main gist of everything for years and years (and have the first two seasons on DVD), but to watch full episodes has been a whole new experience. To me, the mark of a good TV show is whether or not it creates a world I want to wrap myself up in, and that's exactly what Knots has been for me so far.

I'm learning that the big four primetime soaps really were unique in their own ways. I expected Knots to be more akin to Dallas (and maybe it is - we're in S6 of Knots, and I haven't gotten to the same point with Dallas yet), but it is much more dramatic, the emotions are heightened, and the characters just feel things a lot more than their Texas counterparts do. The music is also incredible at establishing the mood (something I already noticed from watching clips). I can't imagine the sense of tension people felt when they watched each week back in the day.

The storyline for season 6 is plotted so tightly, just when you think one thing has nothing to do with another, they collide, and then there's no way you can stop watching until you see how it plays out. It helps the characters because you get the feeling that every single one of them has a real purpose, even Karen's sons, who I always figured were glorified extras who popped in for a "Hi, mom/bye, mom" every now and then.

Those guys who did scenes from the show in drag really hit the mark with voices and mannerisms

I really do need for it to be available on demand though because I've been enjoying this season so much, and I hate the idea of going to work each day this week and jumping ahead.

Karen's sons (we don't talk about her daughter) are deeply underrated to me, and do have character and stories of their own, particularly in the early seasons and I believe also further down the road. As a newbie I understand that they apparently never quite came into their own as major players despite considerable attempts to beef them up, which is too bad, but I still think they're great. The kids in the various families, with a few exceptions, are actually essential to the show and fleshing out the lead characters - Abby's daughter Olivia has unique and evolving relationships with her, Val and Gary that date back even to story together without her mother in Season 2 when she was very small - and I think that's so important for this kind of show.

And yes, KL and Dallas are night and day to me, as evidenced by my many repetitive critiques of Dallas in this and its own thread since I began watching both.

I figured they would have more to do later on when they're older. I know the actor who played Eric tragically died during the show's run, but Michael became a main character for a few seasons. I'll definitely look out for more of them. I did already know that Olivia would have more to do, too, and yes - I already see how important she is to Abby (and that bond plays a part in Abby's role in the Val's babies story).

The season six finale just started and oh my GOD lol I feel silly because I know everyone here has been watching this and discussing it for decades, but as someone seeing it for the first time, I am hookedddddd.

So here's a question. I notice that there are not a lot of exterior scenes at the cul-de-sac. Was it a Dallas-type situation where they only went to Granada Hills at the beginning of each season, or was it a thing where as the focus shifted to the characters' lives outside of home, they just showed the actual cul-de-sac less and less?

The Val baby story was an example of character over plot.. because Val had her first baby taken from her by JR.. that having it happened for a 2nd time, and no one believing her was the straw that broke the camels back.

The little touches of Abby telling Val about the babies harkens back to when Val showed a letter from Olivia that told Abby where her children were in season 3.  And then the country music playing during the car ride... chef's kiss

The added layer of Gary and Ben not knowing that the babies are Gary's makes it that much better. The stakes are HIGH. Kudos to these folks for making something that has people on the edge of their seat nearly 40 years later - fully aware of the entire story and how it plays out, but still held by the balls in front of the TV. I have no idea how I'll ever force myself to go to sleep tonight.

Michael, Eric and Olivia are pretty involved in the early years too. I would recommend watching from the beginning. The boys drift away for a time or are recurring players, then come back then drift away again I think. Olivia is also very important to both Abby and Val. I do think it's too bad about Steve Shaw (Eric) - he's very underrated IMO.

And yes, I'm hooked. I look forward to your ongoing journey as you may notice I have been spamming this thread with my episodic insights from the beginning over the last several years! There's always room for more!

I think S6 is the peak of the Gary/Abby relationship as far as I've seen. I am only up to ep 5 of Season 7 myself via other means, and will be resuming the watch tonight live on FreeVee. Season 7 is the fascinating year where Lorimar bizarrely swapped the creative teams of Dallas and KL - KL's apex creative team of Peter Dunne and co. from Seasons 4-6 moved to Dallas, and David Paulsen from Dallas came to Knots. The sensibility of the two shows and focus on men and plot (Dallas) vs. women and character (Knots) is very different, and so far I have only seen a few of the signs of it at Knots. I'm eager to dig into it. Paulsen was out at the end of S7 too.

Peter Dunne's season of Dallas so far has had some interesting changes for me that I've found very worthwhile and fresh in a Knots fashion, but I know it supposedly tanks quickly - its flop (and Patrick Duffy's absence, as he'd been killed at the end of the previous year) is what led to it being erased from continuity as 'the dream season' when the OG Dallas showrunners return along with Bobby Ewing in the shower the following year.

I thought Ben knew they were Gary's, but I could be wrong.

    • Wow, I love that current and former actors are participating in this. I barely recognize Staci Greason! She looks fine, just very different. But I will be happy to hear anecdotes from her. I shipped RoJohn and Isabella hard back in the day, and I sobbed buckets in my dorm room at college when Izzy B passed. Honestly, I'm interested in everyone's stories. Drake seemed like he was well loved among the cast.
    • When she first appeared, I was sure she was setting Tyrell up for a prank. She was too much of a manic pixie dream girl- I wasn't surprised Tyrell also became suspicious. Now I'm not so sure. If Jessica genuinely likes Tyrell, it seems like a missed opportunity to not have started her out as a bully, then we see her gradually catch feelings for Tyrell.  The McBrides are definitely the "C" family of BTG. They always get last priority. There have been a few times where the Doug/Vanessa/Joey characters reference off screen conversations which seem too important to not show us. Like when Doug thanked Joey for giving him extra time to pay off the loan. When did that happen? Or when we abruptly moved from Vanessa/Joey at Uptown to Vanessa/Doug in the hotel room. The McBrides don't even have their own set - even though Vanessa is a realtor. It's a shame because I am a fan of the characters and actors.

I am also adjusting to KR as Ted but I feel that AM and MJ had way more chemistry as father and daughter than AM and KR. We saw Eva dream of having a real relationship with MJ's version of Ted for months so it's a bit of a bummer not to have that payoff with the original actor except for those scenes in MJ's last episode.  Something I noticed about Eva today is how she takes genuine delight in being a schemer. As badly as she wants to be a Richardson, she still has so much of her mom in her. It was jarring seeing her earnestly promise to steer clear of Leslie in her scene with Ted, then immediately switch attitudes when her mom showed up.  I'm very surprised with how quickly the accident story has been moving along. I was sure that it would be months if not years before people figured out it was Leslie on the motorcycle, not to mention responsible for the potassium overdose. I'm looking forward to seeing how MVJ and Guza avoid writing Leslie into a corner.  Finally, I have been loving the Articulettes story. Bonita Brisker was just the right amount of OTT - remember Sharon is supposed to be even more angry than Tracy is. If Sharon didn't come in swinging, people would say she fell flat. The way Sharon and Tracy describe the breakup is so Supremes-meet-Original Recipe Destiny's Child. I get the sense that MVJ is re-writing the Return to Love Tour as a roman a clef, and I love it. I'm looking forward to finding out what the secret they share is. If Dante Green is as shady as Berry Gordy was, it's something dark. If/when they go through with the reunion, I expect Dante to show up and claim to own the Articulettes trademark in a Lou Pearlman-esque twist.
    • Other than hanging out with Liz, all of Lucky's stories have been stalled out or dropped; the relationship with his son; his wanderlust. He hasn't been involved in any of the action/adventure or con artist stuff. I don't think he's even had a scene with Sidwell since the latter came to town. He's a real after thought. I doubt he's long for the show.

    • Seeing Nicole and Martin together reminds me of watching Alice with Mickey Horton in the 90s and 00s. The seem more like peers than mother and son.  The younger half of the cast (35ish and below) is playing younger, and the older half (35+) is playing older.

    • I'm anticipating most of the cast at the Nice location for a few weeks a la the Tuscan villa for Victoria and Ashland's wedding. I don't know why they bother. I'd rather see the money going into more regular home/office sets. This party has been a bust. No secrets revealed, break ups  etc. Ugly decorations and I'm going to slam the costuming again. Just the guests heaping praise on  Nikki  like she's achieved some magnificent milestone rather than just getting a year older.
