They have done a bad job with Keegan so far. He's just been so one-dimensional. I really like the actor though so I'm hoping they can redeem him, he's too hot to waste

Not that any redeeming could erase some of the things he's done thus far though.

So what's the verdict now? Who thinks the Taylors will end up the same way as the Millers? (i.e. all axed?) I'm surprised Sean O'Connor didn't want to axe the Carters...! I hope Keegan survives if they can redeem him. It's sad that not many young characters stick around on this show. Well, no guys anyway, a lot of the girls do; Abi, Whitney, Lauren etc.

Not much has been said about her. The Carters are in a mess at the moment and I'm really shocked they went there with Mick/Whitney, I don't understand the decision behind that.

I hope Ben gets more to do soon. I hate seeing him floating around doing nothing.

ETA: I notice they've given Michelle a bit of a make-over, I wonder if they're trying to make the audience warm to her more.

EASTENDERS is facing a ratings crisis as viewers fell to an average just 4.5m for last night’s episode.

The BBC One soap fell behind Emmerdale to become the least watched of the big three as Coronation Street soared to six million while fans of Walford were left divided over the bullying storyline that has seen Louise Mitchell believe she has been raped.

EastEnders' Keegan Baker is arrested for raping Louise Mitchell

While actress Tilly Keeper's performance was widely praised by viewers, the harrowing storyline saw the police question Louise in a way that fans didn't like.

The episode - which shot to the top of the BBC's iPlayer service - saw Louise break down over bullies Keegan,  Madison and Aelxandra's vicious lies about Louise having sex with Keegan at a party.

Schoolgirl Louise was devastated as she believed she had been raped with her being spiked and therefore too drunk to consent to anything.

But after tearfully breaking down to stepmum Sharon, Louise spoke to the police who questioned her in a way that left fans raging.

"It doesn't matter if she was drunk that's still rape," wrote one viewer. "A police officer wouldn't say that

An increased teen presence (although the execution has been bad), bringing back Michelle, re-building Ian and Jane, reducing Phil's screen-time, making things less OTT, not sure what else off the top of my head. Many of those are minority opinions though, most people would probably say they were bad things.

Well I am glad someone is enjoying those things but I am not.

I do agree that the increased teen presence is good, but he is taking poor Louise and Bex through the damn wringer. Bex thought she had a sex tape, and Louise thinks she was sexually assaulted ... it's just too much. Doesn't help either that Keegan is tied to both incidents, and now we're supposed to pity him.

SOC bringing Michelle was an absolute dud. I've said this months ago, and I still stick by it that Michelle would NEVER have preyed on a young boy given how her parents had sleepless nights over her/Den's affairs at the inception of the show. It is so out of character for her.

And Ian/Jane can never be rebuilt after the damage the previous regime. I will never be able to look at the two characters the same again after the covered for Bobby for over a year when he killed Lucy, and Jane dumped her in the park like she was yesterday's trash. The only way I feel they can be rebuilt is if Jane dies a fatal death, and Ian spends eternity alone and miserable. I didn't even how Kathy went along with it too. While I am not as disgusted with her, I can't look at her the same at times too.

But anyone who reduces Phil's airtime gets a bit of credit in my book. Like Steve McFadden, but Phil is long overdue an exit. I'm sure once he returns to the show, he'll pick up where he left off as a big ass bully on the Square that everyone unfortunately fears.

I'm hoping Ted's gun kills Karen or Keegan by the end of the summer. Yes, the actor who plays Keegan is a handsome kid but the character is irredeemable. The actor will have no problem finding other work. I wonder if he can do a decent American accent.

Personally Michelle is one of my favourites and I like the bond she has with Ian and Sharon (my love of Michelle being another minority opinion). I don't feel like the Preston thing was out of character but most do think that.

I agree Phil needs to go. UK soaps love flogging a dead horse with long term characters. Ian and Jane are beyond repair too but they won't go anywhere.

I like the direction he's taking Lauren in. It doesn't feel boring or obvious, and I like that.

I'm still not happy about Steven's homosexuality/bisexuality being ignored/buried.

I still don't understand why Chelsea hasn't been re-cast and why Denise's step son Jordan was used in that stupid story when he could have come in as a permanent character too. I want them to do something about Lisa allowing Louise to just set up home with Phil.

ETA: I find it almost unbelievable a boy as good looking as Keegan comes from the Taylor family.

    • Where do you discover this crazy rumor??
    • Jill Farren Phelps was always very skilled at saying what she meant onscreen in the bluntest way possible, like whenever she wanted fans to support one character vs. the other (hence Megan McTavish groaning about having to write Kale Browne's Sam Rappaport into three days a week at OLTL). Perhaps you should consider doing the same. Historically your intent is always far more obvious than your efforts at coy embroidery anyway. You believe people are dismissing Phelps' accomplishments, and suggest misogyny and fan blinders allow people to too easily pigeonhole and dismiss her skill set. I think we all understand her varied skill set. We're saying it's not enough to make up for her deficiencies as a storyteller and creative. JFP was undoubtedly a skilled technical producer. As a solo storyteller, and de facto HW, she was a repeat and predictable failure. She was not the first or last EP (male or female) to think she was a writer. If you want us to stop taking your behavior personally when you suggest misogyny is at play in board opinions of JFP, perhaps you should consider spending the next 10+ years here not acting like you're the only one who gets it.

Melissa was here today & we went to Michael's Crafts & Ofc Depot. In Michael's there were two beautiful LITTLE girls who kept staring at me, so I gave them a littel wave & very quietly said HI & then did back. I told Melissa they were staring at me. She smiled & said "Purple. A lot of little girls love purple & you forget but you have purple hair. Seeing you their whole imaginations are transformed! Thinking "That lady has purple hair. That means I can have purple hair! They had no clue before seeing you that it was possible." I just laughed & laughed.
    • This opening scene is hilarious...it's like someone wrote out the script for Philip with one hand. And Rick...sniffing a scarf over and over. And in their next scene they are still sniffing the [!@#$%^&*] scarf as the camera stays all over Philip's bare chest and armpits as he keeps working out. Insane stuff.

Bay City better be ready, because I'm back!   At Vicky's apartment she is once again drowning in doubts and jealousy. Deep down she realizes that her dream wedding will be a farce and nothing can change that. Bridget tries to calm her down, but the heroine is determined to suffer. She is not hearing any positive thoughts. She doesn't believe Jamie will marry her. At the Cory Publishing building another farce is in process. Iris, once again pretending to be the angel of love and sisterhood... is telling Mac and Rachel some wonderful news. When Iris has good news, you really need to look out for yourself. That's when things are bad. So what are the news? Miss Devil has put Amanda up for an award! Mac is smiling from ear to ear, and Rachel is suspicious. Maybe that's the effect Iris is looking for. To once again accent on the fact that Rachel doubts and criticizes her daughter. Iris will do anything to destabilize their relationship. She is like a cancer. Back to Vicky! Jamie is at the door. Looking like a sad puppy, he has come with a surprise. No, he is not gonna leave her and her unborn... Not yet. He has bought her earrings. Sad face. How nice. NOT. Victoria, of course... manages to break one of them the moment she touches it. Bad premonition maybe? She was back in hysterics. It's not easy to trap a man into marriage. Then you have to live with someone that didn't want you in the first place.  We were introduced to a new character (to me at least she is new) - Cass's sister - Stacey. She is giving me "hidden skeletons in the closet"-vibes. Love a girl like that. Stunning actress. I like her. The highlight of the episode was the strange and creepy reveal of Evan the escort... hugging someone named Janice's grave. I remember she had an issue with Rachel... and Rachel killed her in self defense I think... It was hinted in prior episodes, but I lack the context and story. I just know that everyone at the Frame house was mad that Rachel killed the bish. But I also got the impression that this Janice was sick in the head. So Evan is now talking to her grave and telling her he is going to ruin Rachel's life basically. Oh, Evan... I liked you better as a sexy gigolo.  Overall - 10/10 - how can I rate it lower when I haven't watched in months!!!

    • Once again, Marlena and Kayla were used very effectively and I couldn’t be happier.  Marlena counseling Johnny and then Chanel was the best part of today. They’re really delving into the human emotion of this storyline and I think that’s a good thing. It feels so much mature than it was before. EJ’s fear about what could happen to Johnny if he doesn’t let go of his anger could lead to some really good storylines in the future.  I also really appreciate the way that Paula/Jeanne are mixing it up and having different characters interact with each other. It was nice to see Shawn and Johnny remember that they’re cousins and share a scene together. I liked the parallel that was drawn between the two of them, and what’s going on with their fathers. I did have mixed feelings about everything with Cat though. I enjoyed Chanel warning her about EJ, mostly because it played into the way that she was written today. But I wasn’t the biggest fan of the Chad/EJ scenes. The two of them discussing Chad’s potential feelings for Cat didn’t really keep my interest.  But above all, I feel that everyone is being used more effectively and that we’re getting a better understanding of everyone as well. And that was exactly what Days needed.
    • It's a wild story for sure, especially the final conclusion (and fireworks offcamera, like Victoria Wyndham tearing into Michael Logan).
