Members Bright Eyes
Was 90's Liz anything like she is today?
Members DRW50
She was more long-suffering and somber, as her difficult marriage to Jim defined her. I didn't realize she was with Des - didn't she have a thing with his brother too?
Members BetterForgotten
Yes, but she wasn't really interested in him. The McDonald's were like the Corrie equivalent to what the Carter's are on EastEnders these days. They were better cast though and had some OK stories, but shoehorned beyond belief during their initial years.
Members BetterForgotten
Awful Psycho inspired promo promoting the addition of the 4th episode in 1996 (widely considered one of the worst years ever for the show). Members DRW50
That's hilariously bad. I don't remember Janet Leigh showing that much breast either. How do you think 1996 compares to recent years?
Members BetterForgotten
In preparation of Steve's latest wedding, the Corrie Facebook page is posting clips from his previous weddings. I've never seen this clip or the episode of his wedding to Vicky. Bet, Liz, Vicky, and Steve all look like they're in hell. https://www.facebook.com/CoronationStreet/videos/vb.75373902658/10153005365022659/?type=1&theater Obviously, his most memorable wedding is the first failed one with Karen that Tracy crashed. But I really can't think of a more unwatchable pair than Michelle and Steve. The fact that they're getting married is a reflection of how bad this show truly is these days. Members DRW50
Worst of all is that they're billed as some supercouple. At least they've stopped being called the new Jack and Vera.
Members Bright Eyes
They were called the new Jack and Vera? I thought the show did that more with Tyrone and Fiz.
Members TimWil
As long as Sean and Billy aren't the new Jack and Vera I'm not fussed.
Members DRW50
They both got the label. It just shows how much the show and the press are stuck in this show's past and how they have struggled to create new characters. Please register in order to view this content The most interesting part is her talking about Dynasty as a cartoon and how UK soaps aren't like that because they can't reach that market. I wonder what she would have thought about when UK soaps did start trying for that (I guess Emmerdale was probably the best at it). Members DRW50
About 3 minutes in there's a little segment on Corrie quickly returning to work after the 3-month strike that crippled ITV in 1979. Julie Goodyear and Peter Adamson talk. I wonder if that commercial they did to catch viewers up is available anywhere. Members Bright Eyes
More Sally praising ... That little moment where she stopped Tim from wasting too much wine on basic fish Anna killed me. She pleases me so.
