Right, I knew about his brother--funny given his QAF character's obsession with Dr Who. I meant I'll tune into CBC's airing of Corrie more often to see if he's still on (though who knows how often I actually will). The biggest surprise was when he popped up in Titanic...

I've foudn the judges on Strictly Come Dancing (the very very little I've watched it) worse than Dancing with the Stars in terms of nastiness--though he wasn't much of a comfortable dancer in the many club scenes of QAF either (granted that's a very different kind of dancing, and fit with his shy character) so I'm not too surprised ;)

She's becoming a harder character but I think it makes sense. I just hope they don't go too far, as they have with Molly.

Some casting news -- Keith Duffy (Ciaran) is leaving, by his own choice, to focus more on his band, Boyzone. The little girl who plays Amy has been replaced.

I really liked the exit for Kelly, I thought it was a good fit for her character, and a throwback to the name Danny Baldwin had for her ("Legs").

Corrie has a lot of problems (too many attempts at sensationalistc storytelling, overuse of characters until people get sick of them), and the stories at the moment are not great. I do think that they have improved recently, there's a lot of good conflict and emotion between characters - Nick/David (spoiled by a poor recast, unfortunately), Gail/Audrey, and Pam/Molly, Kevin/Molly, good scenes with Bill and Kevin, Kevin and his kids. Simon's kidnapping ended in an odd anticlimax, I don't really imagine that was what they originally had in mind, but that story was also decent up to then. I'm looking forward to Sophie's upcoming story. They've done a very good job with her over the past year.

I think the show is still in passable shape, although with plenty of room for improvement. I mostly watch for certain characters, especially the older characters, who are still allowed lives and emotions, unlike what's become of, say, the veterans on Emmerdale recently, or poor Pat on Eastenders, who has a severe heart attack one week and the next is treated like a slave by Bianca.

    • I don't think Chelsea has a true label just yet. She's just finding out she has an interest in women. I think the awkwardness is aligned with the character as we've seen. This is the fool who keeps filming her family when embarrassing things happen and live streaming it. I actually think it's refreshing she isn't just jumping into a relationship  and that they're playing the beats of her trying to figure out who she is.
    • Wow, do I agree with you. Chelsea is coming off as ridiculous. All she does is look for a woman to date while not caring about her business at all. That she's bi is great, but they're not writing her like she's bi. She seems to be lesbian. Yeah, I know -- "no labels." I just don't find the writing for her story to be anything other than awkward.   -- I hope we get some diagnosis finality with Bill's trip to the hospital. I don't want to see these trips to the ER every other day. -- Naomi is going to blame herself for Bill's health problems? GMAB. -- Ashley doesn't read as a real nurse in the slightest. -- Another day, another rinse and repeat conversation with Derek and Ashley. YAWN. -- Kat is making mistakes, but she's fun to watch and listen to, regardless. -- I still think the Joey/Vanessa/Doug gambling story sucks. I know Doug is deeply in debt, but I don't like him acting this meek and submissive.  -- I'm not sure what Joey's plan was from the beginning, or why he had to seduce Vanessa at all to get his way. I'm not sure what Vanessa ever saw in Joey -- why doesn't he give her the ick? -- I'm fine with a story where Doug and Vanessa take out Joey.  -- The fades to commercials were pretty bad today.
    •   Victoria's house (that she long ago lived in with Billy) burned down (I think Aunt Jordan set it ablaze?). Victoria briefly moved into the ranch after the fire, with Claire, Johnny and Katie, I think? Mariah and Tessa and baby Aria had been living in the tack house but they bought a house we've never seen and moved there. Victoria, Claire, and Cole then moved into the tack house as soon as Teriah left. I guess Victoria's children Johnny and Katie would live with Victoria at the tack house eventually? But Johnny and Katie went to boarding school during the school year. Not sure if we'll see Johnny and Katie for the summer vacation or where they would live.
    • Victoria’s previous house burned down.    And I know why characters frequent Crimson Lights 3 times a day for brownies, muffins and empty mugs:   THERE’S PCP IN EVERYTHING.
    • Today was a good episode, and the week for that matter. I think they've also done a better job with background music. The scenes in todays episode weren't as silent as they usually are in the background and it was noticeable. I think the show has found its groove well and I'm still invested.
    • Garneau was in the Liberal party and his riding was in Montreal. He was the first Canadian in outer space.
    • I agree. I really have enjoyed this story from the beginning. I feel like it needed the time for us to care about Doug. They've done a nice job of explaining his motives and making me care for him. I still feel like he's doomed and Vanessa will end up being a widow and now I'm invested in that *not* happening now that I've fallen for him. Friday was good but so was the entire week. I think they're doing such a nice job of keeping things moving. We got good movement with Bill's story this week, Chelsea is attempting to date, Andre and Dani are having tough conversations about their relationship, of course Anita reunited with Sharon. There is *so* much going on and I didn't even cover all of it.  I wish all of the soaps would take a page out of BTG book and start rotating their stories. I love that everybody is getting a chance to shine and they don't just sit on one lead story to the point you get sick of it.
