I read on FB that Audrey Peters died last summer.  Her son posted about it on his page at the time.

She lived a long life. I'm sorry most of her work is gone as I loved what I saw of it on GL. You also have to credit her for coming into a soap to play the central heroine nearly a decade in and managing to win fans over.

Arden Delacourt...Geraldine Brooks...1970-71    She was a devotee of quack doctor Otto Kreissinger (Leon Stevens) who falsely led Bill Prentiss to believe he could cure his fatal blood disease. At first it appeared that Arden was a shill for Kreissinger, but in the end it was clear she believed him. I forgot whether or not she died, but once Kreissinger was outed he was apprehended (off-camera) while walking down a street mumbling incoherently to himself.      (courtesy of a friend from Facebook).

Thanks for posting that. I had always wondered about that role, mainly because of that exotic soapy name and that Geraldine Brooks was not really a soap actress at that time. Regarding the 70-71 timeline .I will have to check but I think she was only on a few months in 71(?).

Eileen Letchworth began her role of Sharon Ferris with 3 appearances August 19, 22 and 25 1966

'Then we will talk contract' she said in an interview at the time.

At that point she was also understudy for Lauren Bacall in Cactus Flower on Broadway.

Didn't know that Love of Life aired in Australia.

Found a listing for August 1971.

 

Love of Life aired at 11am followed by Secret Storm at 11.30 on Channel 10.

 

Meanwhile Channel 9 was airing Where the Heart Is at 11 and Love Is a Many Splendored Thing at 11.30.

 

So if you were home in those days you'd either have to commit to one station's soap or do a lot of channel switching.
