Thanks Carl for posting those episodes again.

Yes, that is Nada Rowand in that ad. Her voice is very distinct.

That episode is what passed for Christmas that year. It's a little unfortunate. I think the conclusion to the story is compelling, and it was a good way to transition Tess from a sleazy grifter to a more complex character. I just wish they hadn't tried to so hard to force that characterization prior to this. There were some scenes prior to this which I felt were trying to paint Tess as some sort of Ceara type who they were thinking of pairing with Jeremy, but I don't think Jeremy and Tess ever went much beyond business partners. Other than when Nixon writes for her, Tess is too hard of a character for me to actually enjoy.

This is one of Pat Barry's final episodes. Her last episode I believe is the Alden family New Years' party several episodes later where she casually states she's returning to Florida and has turned over her shares of the company to Clay leaving Stacey dumbfounded.

Dante was needed to resolve the story threads that had been established by Millee Taggert and Robert Guza. I don't see the longevity in the character that Nixon did. My understanding is Dante's role only got curtailed because there was blow back due to the only Middle Eastern character being a villain. I think the backlash today would probably have been even greater.

The Frankie / Angie stuff isn't playing for me. I think bringing Debbi Morgan and Angie to "Loving" wasn't a terrible idea. Guza and Taggert wanted to pair her with Trucker, which would have given her a substantial position on the canvas. The hospital was never a central location, and, to keep it a central location, things became a bit plot driven. I wonder if the show wouldn't have been better off setting her up in a clinic at 35 Maple Street where she could treat the college students. Maybe that would have been too limiting.

Frankie was much more aggressive when Guza and Taggert wrote for him. I think they even directly referenced a young Jesse in relation to the type of person Frankie was. None of this stuck though. Nixon went with a much less angry Frankie, and the Frankie / Trucker angle was dropped in favor of Frankie / Charles.

Sorry the clips aren't working for you. Yes, you're right - in that "your arms are too short to box with God" scene with Frankie and Angie at the garage, Angie says explicitly that he's just like Jesse and how concerned she is. She ends up calling the cops on him for that reason. They tried to focus on the race element with Frankie again on The City but that seemed to go down like a lead balloon. I guess he was a little bland toward the end of Loving but I prefer that version of the character.

The uploader mentioned that they hinted at pairing Trucker/Angie, and he even asked her out, but she declined. It's a shame as that would have been interesting to see.

Thanks for more background on that 1993 episode.

I haven't watched these episodes yet, but I remember Lee Chamberlin (sporting long blonde locks) made some appearances as Pat when Angie and Frankie moved to Corinth. Alimi was such a good Frankie. I'd like to forget that Jason Olive was ever cast.

It's great to see Janie again. After all these years. To my knowledge this is the first time. Anything with Janie has popped up on YT. Her scenes with Cooper were hoot. Alimi Ballard was the best Frankie. The other two Frankie's were bland non entities. Killing Janie off was a really stupid move.

    • Sorry, I don't know the non-AW ones. In addition to the 2x Cass disguised himself as Krystle (1984 to hide from Tony Jones, 1994 investigating Felicia's disappearance), there was one occasion in October 1987 where Cass imposter Rex Allingham dressed as a woman and, claiming to be Nicole's Aunt Blanche, disrupted her date with another man. (At the time I don't think the audience yet knew that it wasn't Cass.)
    • THANK YOU SO MUCH. If there was any way we could sticky this post or make it so we don't forget where it is. I'm going to bookmark it for sure! AND WOW... Season 15 - nearly a whole month of skipped episodes. LOL.
    • JFP was only as strong as her writers, which is why her output got worse and worse when she decided she was the only writer anyone needed. They could have easily had a decent short-term story with Lando - maybe cast him as a terminal patient at Cedars, or a long-lost Bauer or Reardon who would leave town after his story is done and possibly return at a later date with a recast. He might become close to Ed and Michelle, similar to how Ed had taken Kelly under his wing years earlier. Maybe he could have been tied to Maureen's death, somehow - maybe we'd learn, after he ingratiated himself to everyone in Springfield, that he accidentally ran Maureen off the road during the storm. And when he realizes this he would, in shame, leave town, maybe leaving some Springfield lady devastated if they were about to get married (this could have worked with a better Mindy recast, or maybe a brand new character).
    • Notes I've made of skipped or faulty YouTube episodes are (I'll put in brackets the faulty ones, the rest are skipped episodes), that would be amazing if they could be replaced by higher quality Netherlands copies when they become available:

S13: 3170, 3172, 3181 (faulty), 3203 (faulty), 3223 (faulty), 3255, 3278 (faulty), 3345, 3361 (faulty) S14: 3399, 3455 (faulty), 3479 (faulty), 3509 (faulty), 3555 (faulty end credits), 3580, 3600 (faulty), 3613 (faulty) S15: 3658 (faulty), 3667, 3668, 3669, 3670, 3674, 3678, 3679, 3681, 3682, 3684, 3685, 3686, 3690, 3692, 3694, 3696, 3697, 3699, 3709 S16: 4058, 4059, 4109 S17: 4137, 4194, 4262, 4284, 4358, 4362, 4371 S18 so far skipped: 4450, 4451. There may be further S18 episodes to replace in English if there are any further skips on YouTube, as many episodes from this season are just in German in the vault, and if they skip those, then we probably have to wait for an eventual Netherlands airing unless someone currently has them in English (currently the German ones needing to replace to full English for S18 are: 4477, 4485, 4486, 4492, 4493, 4494, 4497, 4514, 4515, 4518, 4520, 4522, 4523, 4524, 4526, 4531, 4538, 4541, 4575, 4612 - hopefully YouTube will not skip these, and they won't be a problem to fix). Also, jumping ahead a bit to future seasons, but does anyone have full English speaking copies of any of 4852, 4897, 5275, 5308, 5590, 5591, 5594 (as these are not in full or at all in English in the vault as far as I can tell)? Many thanks if you do! A million thank yous to all Angels helping out with these.

    • I found the reference in the AWHP synopses -- it was 1995 but not directly related to the loanshark.

    • One of the dumbest situations (Lando) ever. What audience member is going to invest in a storyline with a recast they don't like and a triangle where one character is short-term? It bombed as it should have done. So much of JFP's tenure just reeks of desperation. I don't get how someone could produce SB (which did have flaws but was often brilliant) but make so many terrible mistakes at GL.   I still think JFP would have worked better as a director and music supervisor. Her music work at SB was top notch.  It just seems that Rea was minimized during JFP's tenure because I can't imagine her okaying so many of these casting choices.

    • We see the same with GH, where Mark Teschner, the casting director, reportedly has less say since Frank Valentini took over. Some producers want to take over every aspect of their shows.  I think Lando may have been a CBS push.
