I loved, loved, loved DIRTY SEXY MONEY! Definitely a keeper! And those ratings aren't that bad, as long as they start going up a bit. If the next episodes are anything like the pilot, then I'm sure they will. But, don't forget, DSM has a weak lead-in anyway. Maybe they should put it after GREY'S ANATOMY and bury BIG SHOTS against CSI: NY :D

The ringtones for each Darling was brilliant.

It was indeed HILARIOUS.

My comments: DSM was campy, lush, entertaining and had fabulous actors

Yet, the pilot was only so-so. Some pieces felt too cartoonic and over-the-top, it's too early to judge the stories but what I will say that I don't like either of the two younger Darlings. Samaire Armstrong's character got the route away Paris Hilton-style at the end but her brother, oy.

Loved the priest and the gay senator-to-be with his dragqueen friend, though.

Before I forget: Daniel Cosgrove's character is one dud - isn't he?

I thinK Daniel's character will prove to be shortlived. And I'm nto sure I'd call Baldwin's character gay (and the person he's having an affair with is in real life a transgendered actress--not a drag queen). But I do kinda agree with you--still it hink most of these probs were just probs piltos oten have and it'll find its footing.

YRBB is Private Practice, the highest watched new show so fhte year a weak lead in?? I'm confused... I do think it deserves Big Shots' timeslot but ABC isn't exactly givign it a bad shot

Well, based on the fact that a number of people really won't be tuning in again, I would say it is. Just because it was the highest rated new show doesn't mean anything, not really. I meant weak as in many of those who tune in don't really stay for the duration, much less stay on the same channel by the time DSM comes on. Still, if PP had 20 million viewers, then, by analogy, wouldn't DSM have 15, 16? We all know shows have survived years because of good lead-ins--and vice versa.

I'm not quite sure I follow. PP was seen, and still is as ABC's one new "sure thing", even if it underperformed a bit it still did well. It got 14 mill or so viewers, DSM got 10 and a half. Which is a bit of a sharp drop but nothing compared to, say, What About Brian after Dancing with the Stars last year or even both October Road and Men in Trees after Grey's last year (and I doubt Big Shots did all that well--or will continue to--compare dto DSM where nearly everyone I know who saw it wants to watch again this week no one I know wants to watch Big Shots again...).

DSM also kept a much much larger percentgae of its lead in audience from PP than Big Shots did from Grey's Anatomy (Big Shots and DSM had similar numbers but Grey's had much higher than PP)

So really this time slot was one of the best ABC could give their new shows--and I'm not sure, from past experience, if Thurs at 10 woulda been any better at all... But I admit you prob know more about primetime ratings etc than I do...

Hmmm, I guess I was just expressing my "prediction" that PP will not have such high ratings for long, seeing that the premiere really underwhelmed a lot of people. DSM was excellent, but PP's possible downfall could hurt the show. I meant weak in terms of quality and things like that, I guess. On the other hand, I AM hoping DSM gets to increase its numbers and, from the positive feedback, it seems that it will.

Oh and did you get the impression that I liked BIG SHOTS? Oh God, no. It was AWFUL! I tuned out by the first commercial break. It was HORRID!

And I don't think I know more about ratings that you, not really. I just didn't express what I was thinking all that well. :P

Haha fair enough--I never seem to express what I'm thinking well myself ;)

That makes sense--and yah I'm pretty asure PP's rating will fall though I suspect that it'll remain a relative hit out of loyalty to the main character alone--I think DSM is in a pretty healthy place. I guess we'll have to see how ratings go this week.

TV Guide reported a couple of weeks ago that production on this show was shut down to work out the kinks, so with any luck the little problems will be worked out.

Yep I read that too. Usually that's cause for worry but of course this production team's last show, Brothers and Sisters shut down for production to iron out even more kinks--amid much press saying the show was doomed and we all know how that worked out

I would get rid of the younger siblings and bring on someone different, I just feel like neither actors bring anything to the show.

Ah I'm a big fan of Somaire from the OC so I'm gonna give her a chance--and I love the younger male lead--from Nip/Tuck and likes his relationship with Peter Krause a lot--can't wait to see more of that
