What kind of story do you people want, jezze every storyline ever made seems to piss you people off, I don't think anything would make any of you happy, if it was Alden writing this stuff, you would all be praising it. I totally give up, I think the show is great, and now the speed has been slowed down some and nope nobody is happy, I don't think there is anything such thing as making you posters happy about this show. :(

And for those that would say Alden would not write such a thing, try the sperm theft storyline, I think she would. And that was worse than anything this so-called hack has ever written and that includes the dang reliquary storyline

Although I don't like Amber interacting with Daniel, I'm glad to see that they are showing a different angle on addiction and how it will affect his marriage, his job, and his schooling. It's far better than having Daniel actually hooking up with Amber.

I think I am liking feisty Phyllis...After seeing the promo between her and Brad, I think I might like this storyline.

There's no need to paint us all with the same brush. I'm pretty happy with the show right now. Sure, I engage in debate about what some of the characters have done, but that doesn't mean I'm not enjoying the story, I just think it's fun to exchange ideas and opinions with people. Doesn't mean I hate everything that's happening.

I love Amber. I love seeing her screw with everyone in GC. I only wish Nikki had another son, so Amber could go after him next and drive Nikki up the wall with her golddigging ho ways.

Who says he won't end up hooking up with Amber? It's a possibility.

I guess my main problem with this and Y&R in general is that it's all plot driven, which to me makes it a mess. Characters and their history don't seem to matter. As for Daniel's porn addiction, I'm annoyed by it because it doesn't seem to fit his character. Yes, I know it is supposedly a common problem among men and yes he was a bit of a "bad boy" when he first came to the show, but that doesn't mean I have to accept it. Daniel made this big deal about marriage and faithfulness when he found out his mother and Nick and was still POed at them for a long time. He went through this whole growth and maturity period after the Cassie situation. And now I'm suppose to buy into him being sexually obsessed with Amber, lying, and being an all around dog. I'm not saying they cannot tell a porn addiction story with Daniel, but at least make it believable. SHOW ME how a pretty decent guy with these morals about marriage can slip and fall into a problem. I haven't really been shown anything. Suddenly Amber shows up and he's "Oh my gosh, I love her!" "Oh my gosh, I must text Amber" "Oh my gosh, we have so much fun". Don't get me wrong, I don't feel sorry for Lily in the least. She is Colleen's wife, not Daniel's, but I don't like what is being done to Daniel and how it's being done.

And lastly, enough with the PSA's. Enough.

So there are some grumblings about the direction some characters and stories are going and everyone gets labeled as unhappy with every storyline? Some consistency would certainly make me happy. Things seem to be jumping all over the place and in all directions. There's always enough to keep me watching, it's Y&R, but it's simply not "OMG, I CAN'T MISS Y&R TODAY!". Not for me anyway. If I have something else to do, I do it instead of watching at this point in time, then recap online or on Soapnet later. I could care LESS who writes or has written on this show as long as what's written is worth my attention on a daily basis....or at least 3 days a week. IMO, we're getting 1, maybe 2 decent shows a week. I've been watching for over 25 years and while there has always been some dumb goings on in ALL soaps, no matter who is writing, what we see now is definitely not the best of Y&R. Not the worst, but most definitely not the best.

I agree with that totally, and I think most other would too, but I think unfortuntaly for us, those type writers just don't exist anymore, I will agree LML has pacing issues, but then again Kay Alden and Jack Smith did also, with them storylines took 2-3 years to tell, and with LML they move to fast most of the time. I was not watching way back in the day, but I would assume only the writers of long ago could do all three of these characteristics of a story. For me I think LML stories are well written and to some degree character driven at least alot more than other shows anyway, but the pacing is yes all over the place. If you look at ATWT currently it is a total mess because it is not written well, not paced well at all, and nothing is character driven, I don't watch all the soaps so I can only a test to what I watch, but I think Brad Bell of B&B is about as close as you can get to the three things you listed, sure he is not great and has had issues, but normally he does good with all three. I am assuming that JER, McTahish, Guza, and the others are also lacking in those three things, but again I don't watch those so I can't be totally sure. I wish that we had talent like we had years ago, I just think that talent is gone and we are left with writers that are not all that great. So I just take what I can get and to me Y&R even with some flaws is still better than anything else soap wise.

What audience are they going for with this porn story? Who wants to see this Brand New Character involved in two stories on their show? Both stories in which she's acting like a skanky dishrag? Honestly, can anyone tell me in what way this is remotely entertaining? I find little amusement or joy in even a trainwreck way. It just makes me sad.

It's like the writers of daytime are sitting around, occassionally reading articles in the Arts & Leisure section of their local paper and assuming they know "What The Kids Are Talkin' About These Days!". So they write a story that plays to the story rather than to the humanity of the characters.

Everything on the show is written to the plot these day and frankly, the plots aren't that interesting. Is the Reliquary over? Maybe. Who knows?

What is this Winter Springs, Forrest Springs, Whatever Springs thing even about? Let me tell you why it was trumped up this past week, all so Phyllis could overhear Sharon nonsensically blurting out to Brad about their affair and then Phyllis could in turn blackmail Brad with that info. The Panama Springs (am I close?) thing doesn't even matter yet everyone is reacting like their feelings are personally hurt. BTW, does anyone ever definitively know what that whole thing is about?

And Jack? Is running for senator. Even though a cursory glance at his past would throw that into question. But hey, if Luke Spencer can be mayor, Jack can be senator. But the real question is, why does he want this? Because Victor whispered in his ear? Because his family has been reduced to him and Colleen through a series of bad storytelling? Why does Jack want this? It doesn't matter because it's only there so that Victor can bring him down.

The beginning matters, the middle doesn't, the end does. And so what if the beginning is two weeks before the end, right?

Amber is a wh-re. She comes across as even dirtier than she was on B&B. I cant stand the little troll

Where are people reading porn addiction out of Daniel? Just bc he looked as nasty little Amber who sent him a link to herself online?

Phyllis is a biyatch. While I cant stand her, I like that her feistyness is finally emerging again bc she was too plain and boring. I like the rivalry they are setting up between her, Victoria and the Monster in Law. I guess I can understand but I didnt like how horrible she was to Lauren in her own store. Id have thrown her out bc Phyllis is not all that

Monster-in-Law is a hateful miserable cow. All she does is sulk and spread misery wherever she goes. Like WTF crawled up her azz and died? She takes PMSing to a whole other level and she whines and complains about every little thing. I cant see how Victor can stand to be around her.

I'm enjoying 99% of the show. And as soon as the Dru drama is over and off my screen it'll be 100%.

I love fiesty Phyllis being back. I adore Nick and Phyllis working together on this Clear Springs project even though I agree with Nikki that it's a bad idea.. I love Victor's masterplan to bring Jack down. I'm hoping Jack loses everything and Gloria end up in the Abbott Estate.

I love Colleen and Korbell...more every day I see them. I want to see JT get convicted for beating Kevin up. I only wish Brad would get thrown in jail for hitting him while he was handcuffed.

I'm even enjoying the Cane/Jill stuff...Amber can rot in hell. But I like Cane and he's gotta stay.

All in all, I'm hoping I never have to type the word RELIQUARY more than another couple times in my entire life! I think the show is rocking right now. Every story is holding my attention every day.

*shrugs*

But I get that some folks don't agree...it's y'all's prerogative.

    • And this came out as the "feud" and the media pushing the protests in Los Angeles got all the media attention. They know the press and the public will not care or can be manipulated into approving.

    • Hope you will enjoy the 1976 storyline from the Daytime serial Newsletter. The show had just expanded to an hour so new characters and stories were required. The Soderbergs had been writing since late 73 and the show was still #1. Looking foward to comments and discusssion Pt.1  For over two decades As the World Turns has depicted the events in the lives of two Oakdale families: the wealthy and influential Lowells and the less affluent but equally respected Hughes family. Judge Lowell’s granddaughter Ellen is married now to Dr. David Stewart, whose adopted son, Dan, is actually her own illegitimate child. Dan was once married to Dr. Susan Stewart, by whom he has a daughter, Emily. Dan then married Liz, the ex-wife of his late brother Paul. Liz was the mother of Dan’s daughter Betsy, who believes to this day that Paul was her father. Liz died tragically the day after their wedding. Ellen and David have two daughters, Carolann (Annie) and Dawn (Dee), now of college age. Dan has recently fallen in love with Kim Dixon, who was about to divorce Dr. John Dixon until injuries suffered in a tornado caused amnesia and left her with no memory of her love for Dan. John is using this respite to solicitously convince Kim of his love for her. Nancy and Chris Hughes had three children: Bob, a doctor, Donald, an attorney, and Penny, who, after tragically losing two husbands due to automobile accidents, is now living in Europe, where she is married to a racing-car driver. Bob was married while very young to Lisa Miller, then a scheming and selfish young woman, whose machinations destroyed their marriage. She is the mother of Bob’s son, Tom, who is divorced from Carol, who is now married to Jay Stallings. Tom is currently married to Natalie Bannon. Bob later married model Sandy Wilson, a marriage which ended in divorce, and Sandy is now married to Norman Garrison, who is her partner in a beauty products concern. Norman blames Bob for Sandy’s  recent disillusionment with their marriage, and, ironically, Norman suffered a heart attack during his verbal assault on Bob at a Hughes family party; and while Bob rode with him in the ambulance to the hospital, Bob’s beloved wife, Jennifer, Kim’s sister, died in a car crash while driving home alone. Lisa, more mature and considerate of others now, is married to attorney Grant Colman, but her life has been complicated by the recent arrival in town of Grant’s ex-wife, Joyce, and the incredible news that she and Grant had a child after their separation, a child Joyce gave out for adoption but now wants to reclaim. Now the story continues... The picture has now come clear for attorney Grant Coiman. He has learned that his ex-wife Joyce neglected to tell him she had a child shortly after their divorce and had given the boy to Mary and Brian Ellison for adoption. Grant, after seeing the adoption papers and considering the boy’s interests, tells Mary he feels the child should remain with them; they are providing a fine, stable home for him. Grant’s wife, Lisa, is pleased with his decision, feeling he has thus closed the door to the past and they can now go on with their own lives. But Joyce has learned that attorney Dick Martin is now back in private practice, and she tells him she was confused when she gave Teddy up years ago and wants him to represent her in a custody action to get her son back. Dick tells Joyce she has a very weak case but he’ll do what he can. He goes out to Laramie to see the  Ellisons, upsetting them very much. Grant, meanwhile, has confided in Chris Hughes, his law partner, that while his name was on the consent form for the Ellisons’ adoption, he didn’t sign the papers; he had, in fact, never known that he had a son. But he’s afraid to open a new can of worms by signing a consent form now, as that would reveal that the adoption papers are not legally correct. Grant confides the situation to Lisa, explaining that if he wanted to,  he could probably get custody of Teddy himself, but that’s not what he feels would be best for the child. Mary Ellison finally breaks under the strain of Dick’s visit and tells Brian that Dr. Paulk, the doctor who arranged the adoption, told her he didn’t know where to find the baby’s father and so he signed the consent form himself. She painfully explains she kept this secret knowing that Brian wouldn’t go through with the adoption if he learned the papers weren’t legally sound. Brian quickly calls their family lawyer, Jerry Butler, who immediately phones Grant to be sure he backs the Ellisons’ claim. Dick realizes from Joyce’s story that Grant couldn’t have signed the papers and tells him he knows. The only person who has a right to file for Teddy’s custody now is Grant; he’s the only injured party. And the moment he files, Dick can sue for invalidation of the Ellisons’ adoption. Grant finally files, to settle the custody question once and for all, but technically he's filing for custody himself. Tom Hughes and Natalie Porter are married in a small, lovely ceremony at the home of his grandparents, Nancy and Chris Hughes. They honeymoon in the Southwest and return full of expectations of happiness. Natalie is disquieted, however, when flowers arrive which are not from her new husband. She covers by pretending to check with the florist and tells Tom it was a wrong delivery and they have told her she might as well keep them. But she knows who sent them. Natalie is upset when, shortly after, Luke Porter arrives in town and seeks her out. But Luke insists he is there only to assure her this is a final farewell and he has now decided to concentrate on. making his own marriage work. Sandy Garrison, Bob’s ex-wife, is working at the  bookstore to fill in for Natalie. Her estranged husband, Norman, recovering from a heart attack he suffered during a drunken confrontation with Bob at the Colonnade Room, is still telling anyone who will listen that Bob and Sandy are having an affair, but ironically will let only Bob care for him at the hospital. His recovery is hampered by his easily aroused temper. Norman anxiously tries to persuade Dr. John Dixon to convince Bob to swear he slipped at the restaurant, thus making them liable for a costly lawsuit, but John won’t do this. Chris discovers a large amount of money missing when checking the books on the Garrisons’ business, but doesn’t want to upset Sandy with this. More to come...
    • The cynical (i.e., the dominant) me has the very same thoughts.
    • Oh wow that’s pretty awesome! I wish I had  approached him but there was so many people
    • In the current environment, while it's small, there is a crumb of good news: Apparently, San Antonio voted for a DEMOCRATIC mayor, Gina Ortiz, beating the "right-hand man" of Gov. Greg Abbott, former Texas Secretary of State Rolando Pablos. https://thehill.com/homenews/campaign/5337199-gina-ortiz-jones-wins-san-antonio/
    • Love this! You are both adorable. Wow
    • I have not gone back to watch much of 1987, but from what I've seen lately, it doesn't feel like the writers or producers had any sort of plan. The show feels as if it's constantly in flux.  I will give it credit for this. It's watchable for the most part minus Lisa/Jamie which I find nearly unwatchable now.   I don't find Cheryl mousy. I think she has a lot of quiet strength, but she was saddled with the Scott romance which the writers did not invest in. She had a good friendship with Julie (also criminally underused), and her interactions with Ada were enjoyable as well. I also like Layman, but Spencer was extremely talented and when Cass returns, Schnetzer and Spencer have some wonderful scenes. Spencer also fits in with Alexander, Hogan, and Marie.  I'd forgotten just how much I missed seeing Wallingford. IT was so good to see him again. Even when they didn't have a major plot, Felicia/Cass/Wallingford/Mitch always brings a smile to my face.
    •   Dani’s cute ass party planner. He gave me some tea but I was so drunk I don’t remember it.
    • NBC must have been grateful to have LHOTP, it's only hit and still strong after several seasons. Their next established show was Rockford Files at 45th. They didn't develop any comedies and relied on movies and mini series  which didnt establish viewer loyalty and habits. Their only new hit was mid season's Project UFO which debuted Feb up against Rhoda/On Our Own on CBS and How the West Was Won on ABC. It opened with a strong 36 share beating CBS and close to ABC as HTWWW had a 36 share over 3 hours. The next week UFO saw a respectable 32 share, then a 31 so it was slipping. A 28 share followed but a few weeks later it jumped back up to a 34. So no blockbuster but compared to what else they had, there was potential, So next season NBC sent it to Thursday up against Mork and The Waltons and it bombed.  They were smart to see potential in Chips, which took off on Saturdaysnext season. ABC was on a roll with Love Boat, 3's Company, Taxi, Eight is Enough adding to their hits. Their only real flops were Redd Foxx and San Pedro Beach Bums, an Aaron Spelling misfire. Like Redd Foxx, Harvey Korman was lured to ABC but his series was a filler that did well but was considered a time slot hit. Nancy Walker and Rob Reiner were also given series on the philosophy that not only were they popular names, their absence from popular shows like Sanford, Rhoda and All in the Family might weaken those shows. CBS were relying on old favorites. Betty White was strong the first few weeks then faded. Incredible Hulk was their strongest newbie. It was lucky for CBS that NBC was doing so badly or else some of their weaker shows would have really suffered.
