I totally give up, I think the show is great, and now the speed has been slowed down some and nope nobody is happy, I don't think there is anything such thing as making you posters happy about this show. And for those that would say Alden would not write such a thing, try the sperm theft storyline, I think she would. It's far better than having Daniel actually hooking up with Amber. I think I am liking feisty Phyllis...After seeing the promo between her and Brad, I think I might like this storyline. Sure, I engage in debate about what some of the characters have done, but that doesn't mean I'm not enjoying the story, I just think it's fun to exchange ideas and opinions with people. Doesn't mean I hate everything that's happening. I love Amber. I love seeing her screw with everyone in GC. I guess my main problem with this and Y&R in general is that it's all plot driven, which to me makes it a mess. Characters and their history don't seem to matter. As for Daniel's porn addiction, I'm annoyed by it because it doesn't seem to fit his character. Yes, I know it is supposedly a common problem among men and yes he was a bit of a "bad boy" when he first came to the show, but that doesn't mean I have to accept it. Daniel made this big deal about marriage and faithfulness when he found out his mother and Nick and was still POed at them for a long time. He went through this whole growth and maturity period after the Cassie situation. And now I'm suppose to buy into him being sexually obsessed with Amber, lying, and being an all around dog. I'm not saying they cannot tell a porn addiction story with Daniel, but at least make it believable. SHOW ME how a pretty decent guy with these morals about marriage can slip and fall into a problem. I haven't really been shown anything. Suddenly Amber shows up and he's "Oh my gosh, I love her!" "Oh my gosh, I must text Amber" "Oh my gosh, we have so much fun". Don't get me wrong, I don't feel sorry for Lily in the least. She is Colleen's wife, not Daniel's, but I don't like what is being done to Daniel and how it's being done. Some consistency would certainly make me happy. Things seem to be jumping all over the place and in all directions. There's always enough to keep me watching, it's Y&R, but it's simply not "OMG, I CAN'T MISS Y&R TODAY!". Not for me anyway. If I have something else to do, I do it instead of watching at this point in time, then recap online or on Soapnet later. I could care LESS who writes or has written on this show as long as what's written is worth my attention on a daily basis....or at least 3 days a week. IMO, we're getting 1, maybe 2 decent shows a week. I've been watching for over 25 years and while there has always been some dumb goings on in ALL soaps, no matter who is writing, what we see now is definitely not the best of Y&R. Members winterguy125 Posted March 9, 2007 Members Share Posted March 9, 2007 I agree with that totally, and I think most other would too, but I think unfortuntaly for us, those type writers just don't exist anymore, I will agree LML has pacing issues, but then again Kay Alden and Jack Smith did also, with them storylines took 2-3 years to tell, and with LML they move to fast most of the time. I was not watching way back in the day, but I would assume only the writers of long ago could do all three of these characteristics of a story. For me I think LML stories are well written and to some degree character driven at least alot more than other shows anyway, but the pacing is yes all over the place. If you look at ATWT currently it is a total mess because it is not written well, not paced well at all, and nothing is character driven, I don't watch all the soaps so I can only a test to what I watch, but I think Brad Bell of B&B is about as close as you can get to the three things you listed, sure he is not great and has had issues, but normally he does good with all three. I am assuming that JER, McTahish, Guza, and the others are also lacking in those three things, but again I don't watch those so I can't be totally sure. I wish that we had talent like we had years ago, I just think that talent is gone and we are left with writers that are not all that great. Who wants to see this Brand New Character involved in two stories on their show? Both stories in which she's acting like a skanky dishrag? Honestly, can anyone tell me in what way this is remotely entertaining? I find little amusement or joy in even a trainwreck way. It just makes me sad. It's like the writers of daytime are sitting around, occassionally reading articles in the Arts & Leisure section of their local paper and assuming they know "What The Kids Are Talkin' About These Days!". So they write a story that plays to the story rather than to the humanity of the characters. Everything on the show is written to the plot these day and frankly, the plots aren't that interesting. Is the Reliquary over? Maybe. Who knows? What is this Winter Springs, Forrest Springs, Whatever Springs thing even about? Let me tell you why it was trumped up this past week, all so Phyllis could overhear Sharon nonsensically blurting out to Brad about their affair and then Phyllis could in turn blackmail Brad with that info. The Panama Springs (am I close?) thing doesn't even matter yet everyone is reacting like their feelings are personally hurt. BTW, does anyone ever definitively know what that whole thing is about? And Jack? Is running for senator. Even though a cursory glance at his past would throw that into question. But hey, if Luke Spencer can be mayor, Jack can be senator. But the real question is, why does he want this? Because Victor whispered in his ear? Because his family has been reduced to him and Colleen through a series of bad storytelling? Why does Jack want this? It doesn't matter because it's only there so that Victor can bring him down. The beginning matters, the middle doesn't, the end does. While I cant stand her, I like that her feistyness is finally emerging again bc she was too plain and boring. I like the rivalry they are setting up between her, Victoria and the Monster in Law. I guess I can understand but I didnt like how horrible she was to Lauren in her own store. Id have thrown her out bc Phyllis is not all that Monster-in-Law is a hateful miserable cow. All she does is sulk and spread misery wherever she goes. Like WTF crawled up her azz and died? She takes PMSing to a whole other level and she whines and complains about every little thing. I love fiesty Phyllis being back. I adore Nick and Phyllis working together on this Clear Springs project even though I agree with Nikki that it's a bad idea.. I love Victor's masterplan to bring Jack down. I'm hoping Jack loses everything and Gloria end up in the Abbott Estate. I love Colleen and Korbell...more every day I see them. I want to see JT get convicted for beating Kevin up. I only wish Brad would get thrown in jail for hitting him while he was handcuffed. I'm even enjoying the Cane/Jill stuff...Amber can rot in hell. But I like Cane and he's gotta stay. All in all, I'm hoping I never have to type the word RELIQUARY more than another couple times in my entire life! I think the show is rocking right now.
