I think the obvious choice for AMC is Alden. There's no way ABC put all that money into getting her just to keep her as a consultant. There, they can have their precious creations in their own format, their own world, with their own characters and they don't have to subject our shows and characters and their histories to their warped visions. Megan has never written this show to cater to its audience or its history and characters. WICKED WICKED GAMES and WATCH OVER ME far and beyond surpass ANYTHING daytime TV has had to offer. Ditto for DESIRE and FASHION HOUSE. My main point was, if they want to tell their own style of stories with their own flavor and vision, then they have the outlet to create their own projects, instead of coming onto an existing show and foisting those visions and stories onto its unwilling and unsuspecting viewers. Megan can pitch her precious story bible for Purgatory, which she's been rumored to have been pilfering from during her latest run at AMC. I was talking to YOU in response to suggesting that MyNetworkTV is some wasteland. Noted. But you spoke of brining McTavish and Reilly to MyNetworkTV as though the novelas are a vast wasteland. You can't say that unless you've SEEN and experienced them for yourself. Don't wish those hacks onto the novelas. Stand behind it. But don't say MyNetworkTV is trash in the process. MMMKAY?! I tried watching it, lord knows I did, but I couldn't get into it. It was just too amatuer for me and I couldn't stand to watch it. There's nothing factual about it. Members Jonathan Posted March 3, 2007 Members Share Posted March 3, 2007 I am sure that Kay Alden will come on board as head writer. I think she is a good fit for All My Children. She learned from one of the best, Bill Bell. Bell and Agnes Nixon were cut from the same cloth so I'm confident that Alden will continue the same tradition of intelligent storytelling on AMC. Now, some of you may argue that Megan McTavish was Nixon's protege and of course look at all the trash that she wrote. However, I don't think McTavish is as talented as Alden and the stories that McTavish wrote that were considered good were under the jurisdiction of Nixon or Felicia Minei Behr. When she works for Behr or Nixon she has great moments. When she works with Phelps she is depressingly dark. When she worked with Carruthers this time around, she attempted to "innovate."
