McTavish is at AMC for the long haul and sadly I don't see how the show will maintain any sort of momentum after the SS story is over.

Dena gets a co-headwriter, Megan stays put, Guza isn't going anywhere. Looks like Alden & Smith really were just for show.

Wuh to the ow. Wow. DAYS' ratings are soooo depressing for me right now. The saddest thing is that it is so obvious why it is happening and why ALL the stories aren't working when watching. It's better, but still terribly blah.

Agreed on all counts. I think the college thing is helping GH out immensely. With those numbers, Latham's not going anywhere. :( The best we can hope for is she brings back the momentum she had going when she first came on board.

I'm really glad for GH and have mixed feelings about AMC's rise. I don't think AMC is producing good drama. What they're producing is a train wreck that people can't seem to take their eyes off of. At times, admittedly, I'm one of those people.

I kinda was too. I know I gave OLTL a harsh criticism not long ago, but I've been checking it out here & there last & this week and it's actually turning a corner. I can actually watch a whole episode and be entertained. That says something. Honestly, though, I hope they get their bump for this week because everything I've seen so far has been great! Plus, HBS has big stuff coming!

It makes no sense for Days. The week before is when the balance sucked and all the characters people didn't want to see were on and the show went up. Last week, there was a bit more balance and more happened and it goes down. I have no idea how to explain the ratings. I was expecting it to say the same. People can't blame this on the young characters that's for sure.

Days never goes out for sweeps and really not many shows have. Only GH is amping it up. AMC wasn't really that good last week. People bought into the Babe stuff and once that wears off they will drop. OLTL deserves the numbers. They are better.

B&B- I have no clue why they rose. I wasn't expecting a rise from them until ED showed up. GH was painfully boring last week but I knew it would go up. It won't drop until this thing is over and how much will depend on how good it is with the fallout.

Hopefully, Days goes up for this week with Bope and Lumi's proposal. It seems to go up in the weeks where not much happens for some reason, unlike last week where things actually happened and people tuned out. We'll see. I'm not letting it get me down because what is coming up should bring in numbers.

I don't think Bope being on for two days without any REAL story (but being supporting to Chelsea's story) is going to help ratings. But I hope that maybe Chick have gotten fans out there and with their story reaching climax this week, that it might get the up. Also, the Lumi proposal...

The DAYS ratings do not suck. The other shows pulled up while DAYS fell one tenth of a point. If OLTL and AMC hadn't pulled up, DAYS would still be in the spot they were in. I look at this as a challenge for DAYS to step it up. They've held consistently at a 2.5-2.6 for a few months now.

The college viewers are TOTALLY giving a big bump in ratings for the soaps. Now if only they'd let the Nielson be optional (as in anyone could join) our soap ratings would go up even more.

Oh I know that Scotty. The problem has been fixed now. Lskreet had a typo in there. That is where the questioning was coming from - not that the totals were wrong this time.

Both were shown as tied but Days was listed as 2.5 and ATWT at 2.6 - we were trying to figure out which was right. I was assuming that it was a 2.5 for both because even with rounding up I didn't see how either one could have a 2.6 with a 2.4 thrown in there.

    • I assume they did at some point during the finale...
    • Kelly was a horribly-written character overall. Just think, two Emmy-winning actresses (including Cynthia Watros, Nina, GH, and Annie, GL) couldn't make it work. Pamela is campy, but so are Dani, Vanessa, Leslie, and Joey. And, I don't want to be too judgy because my love for camp changes depending on the show. OLTL, DAYS, and some eras of GH had me rolling with the camp. However, Passions was overkill and I hated it. And, here, I can take it or leave it. It's ok in small doses (note to RC). I see this show as more of a serious drama.
    • I think one of the reasons that pilot didn't get picked up was because Vicki L was associated more with being Thelma Harper and playing older then she was playing her own age.  It was a blessing it didn't get picked up, or we would have been deprived of the syndicated era of Mama's Family.   Also, worth noting a Pre Night Court Marsha Warfield and pre Perfect Strangers Rebecca Arthur in the cast.  All talented women, but stuck with a bad script. And the other pilot had a pre Fran Fine.. Fran Drescher as the best friend.  I think that pilot might have been picked up if Karen Valentine and Fran Drescher switched roles.
    • So, on rewatch....did Rick and Mindy never have sex?
    • Cady had a fairly posh accent or manner as Rosanna - the character was a 180 from Dixie when she went to ATWT, and it was a huge success initially. As someone mostly only familiar with the nagging, miserable or clueless Dixie of the mid-late '90s and early 2000s it was what convinced me Cady could act. I thought she was incredible in her first run. Later, in future stints, her hair and story and performances were all over the place but a lot of that was down to the show for me. She brought some of Rosanna back with her to Dixie in her ill-fated return and a lot of people didn't like it, which I understood but I did think the character needed some change. I think she's had a little bit of the same persona and arch performance in every role she's played since, including Jennifer Horton at DAYS or Kelly at Y&R, who later became a maniac and was easily the worst work I've ever seen Cady do. It has kind of infected her overall mannerisms, I'll allow that, but I do think she brought Dixie back together as herself while still evolving the character when she returned to AMC again in 2012-13. Nonetheless, for me the upshot is that this is a character where Cady's kookier recent performance style suits the role. But I can understand it grating for people.
    • Yeah, Loretta Swit's passing stings. My late dad LOVED the show (he died last November) and watched it religiously. In first run and repeats.  And I was literally born the day after the show's premiere, so I grew up with it! I know many loved later, softer Margaret, but I loved Early Hot Lips. In real life, I'm all for less misogyny, but to me, the early years of M*A*S*H were just funnier. May Loretta Swit rest in peace. Thanks for all the memories connected to my dad!

    • I agree that she isn't Dixie or Rosanna and shouldn't be acting like either. I just found it strange that she had a naive Southern character and a wealthy urbane character in the past and didn't experiment with accents before (unless I missed it, correct me if I'm wrong). She used to do improv characters on YouTube. She's probably doing something similar here.

    • And here I thought I'd never think about Lauren Tewes again after her brief appearance in Twin Peaks Season 3.
    • I may be the single person who does not mind Transatlantic Campy Pamela. I think it perfectly suits this sort of Absolutely Fabulous-esque supporting character she's playing much more than it did when Cady tried weird and often broad stuff at AMC* or Y&R, or later stints at ATWT. She's not Dixie and she's not trying to be. I will freely admit some of the other chances she took at other shows often came off stiff, hammy or downright mortifying (Kelly Andrews, come on down). (* - and I say that as one of the few who was somewhat into Cady trying to make Dixie more cosmopolitan in the Rosanna Cabot mold in mid-2000s AMC, just to liven the character up again)
