OMG! That's embodies it all. As bad as the decision is to let Cady go, you have to admit today was one exciting show!

It was so good to see Jill again. Even though she had one line, her quivering lip and quiet, demure act (so un-Opal) in frantic search of Palmer, reminds me why she was Emmy Nominated and another bad decision on the part of the current regime in terms of casting decisions.

The scene that broke my heart the most was when the camera panned through all of Dix's loved ones: Jamie, Opal, Di, Del and finally JR.... JR better honor his mother's last words and tell Tad that Krystal's baby is his.

That is exactly how I feel. Of the 17 years watching, this single decision has hurt me the most. The first time Dixie 'died' was so different - all the circumstances surrounding her first 'death' were completely different than right now.

The TPTB don't care what long-time fans want or how they are treated. It's sad, pathetic, and makes me not even want to watch their show anymore.

Right now, I'll still be watching, but I'll be doing it out of habit - not because I really want to...this is like my divorce from AMC, but we'll still be in each other's lives bc we have children together or something...lol - I know it's lame, but I have no idea how to explain it other than that.

I agree with you - I mean it was nice we saw Opal and the acting and writing was great.

But they could have done all this and still had Dixie survive. But they have to kill her off and I can't handle that. I mean Dixie could survive this and we'd still have the great drama, writing, and acting. This could have brought Tad and Dixie together forever for real - and then have them find Kate and all is well with the world!

But no, they had to officially kill her off. WTF?

I really really want Cady to get a job on DAYS or Y&R and win another emmy!

SCREW YOU JULIE HANAN CRUTTHERS, BRIAN FRONS, MEGAN MCTAVISH AND WHOEVER ELSE WAS RESPONSIBLE FOR THIS!

You have pissed off your most loyal fans to the point where even they want to turn off the t.v!

I haven't been a fan in about a year. I've just been watching AMC out of habit. I still like Zack and Kendall, but now that Dixie has died there really anything interesting left of the show. Who's the Satin Slayer? At this point WHO CARES? I don't and I can't wait until this story is over.

I now officially hate Babe and wish death upon the character. It was her that was supposed to eat those disgusting pancakes, not Dixie. Dixie's death is propping Babe. And that is what pisses me off the most and paints TPTB's agenda as clear as glass.

Babe=Everything Good Dixie= Old and tired

Together Forever. *sniffles*

At the least, why couldn't the last few weeks of January have been more T/D getting closer heavy (I mean more than two episodes, and one of those episodes being 25% T/D, 75% Babe/Dixie)? A good few JR/Dixie moment, Adam/Dixie moments, etc... included? Why not? Ugh.

Why couldn't they have kept Dixie alive and have a long goodbyes to her family with flashbacks and last words (not about Carey's). Dixie almost dying in 2002 was given more respect. Tomorrow's show should be dedicated to goodbye's and memories - with Dixie alive...and her last word tomorrow should have been "Together Forever" with Tad on the hospital bed holding her. Sigh, I'm tearing up now, but it's more so from me making up the ending (and remembering the past) rather than what the show is actually doing (or has done). I hadn't gotten reinvested in T/D, Dixie this time around (because frankly the show didn't give much to get reinvested in), but I have my memories and it's a lot...the first couple that got me really invested in any soap when I was just a kid and that got me running for my first VCR after I saved a lot of allowances up. Sigh. :(

I'm not giving up on AMC, I grew up with the show and I want it to be around with some semblence of it's history 5 or 10 years from now...but the way they did this one from start to finish was unbelievably f'ed up - disrespectful to the fans, to what T/D have meant to this show and what they mean to this show. I don't get why it had to go down like this. It's not just the firing, it's that they could have ended it on a higher note even if they were determined they had to end this with death.

:( OMG you sound, devasted. OMG, do I know that feeling. I don't even want to know what her last scenes were like. Nope. This is so sick. And so sad. Why would they do this? OMG, T&D fans, if anyone knows your pain it's me. Today is the day that AMC killed itself.

What's left to root for or hope for on this show? This Dixie thing is hitting me harder than I imagined and I knew it would hurt and suck and be, as said above, just proof positive, clear as glass, as to TPTB's agenda.

Between this and the good times McT's having screwing around with Bianca's sexuality (or at least people's perceptions of it) for that screen time sucker and Babe propper, Zarf....and all the other problems people have listed thousands of time. I'm finding little to hold on to.

When is Zarf's inner "woman" getting in a dress again, anyway?

There can only be so much misery fans can stand and that's all McTrashit knows how to dole out.

And for WHAT? What's the big gainer we get from Dixie's death? A more morose PV? More misery already been done...thank you very much? Nothing new. Nothing gained. I don't care who they pair with whom for whatever reasons JHC and McTravesty assign to drama from Dixie's death. It won't be worth the serious structural damage to AMC historical, LEGACY characters.

Losses all around...except for Babe and KWAK, that goes without saying, yes? And in the most callous, nonsensical, slapdash, afterthought, BS death in Pv EVER (maybe ever in soaps outside of DOOL).

Bianca fans are no longer the most put upon in AMCWorld...Tad and Dixie fans win, unfortunately we all lose.

I HATE IT!

eta:

Sing it! It's a hard B.I.T.C.H!slap to the fans of Tad and Dixie, to the fans of AMC on every POSSIBLE level...top to bottom, stem to stern. There are SO many ways they could have made it better, easier to take, more respectful, to fill Dixie's remaining time with the way the fans yearned to see her...with Tad, with JR, with Kate, to give them some more of the recent promise thrown out like bait only to disguise a big Peanut Butter Banana Pancake Death Trap. GAH!

I think the thing that is most infuriating (and there is a lot to be angry about) is that if you know Tad and Dixie's history, Dixie has always wanted to have Tad's little girl. I have scenes going back to 1989 and then throughout the 1990's and 2000's where Dixie and Tad talk about this. What soap supercouple, that has been married on and off for 18 years (and been in love all that time), doesn't get a child together, except for one scene together where they don't even know the girl is theirs? What kind of soap opera gives hope of a story for 18 years and then teases it mercilessly (and with complete crap) for an entire year and then senselessly murders half of the show's most popular supercouple over the last two decades, just as the story that many had wanted to see is finally starting?

The answer for me is one that I will not be waching anymore after this week. If Dixie, Tad and Kate had been reunited happily for five minutes (that is all you get on this show) my answer may have been different (not sure). I feel like AMC treats both its actors and its fans with no respect. I can't watch this depressing, poorly written junk anymore and I thought there would be NOTHING that would ever stop me from wanting to see my show.

 AMC kills Dixie, and itself a day short of a year, of the fetus reveal (One year ago, tomorrow). That has to be a record. A showing killing itself that fast.

I haven't read these posts, and I won't. I refuse. AMC has done it this time.

Ding dong the witch is dead...the witch is dead...

I have waited like 18 years for this day.

I didn't think this day would ever come.

So long Dixie!

Hope you enjoy pushing up those daisies!

My only problem with this plot (besides the long wait) is that she didn't die from poisioned

chicken fingers.

Oh well, At least it's finally over.

Sorry to the ones who liked that Pigeon Hollow dud...It's sad when we lose our favorites...but I just can't stop smiling.

What a great way to start off the week.

Bye Bye Dix!

Say hi to Will in hell for me...lol

And good luck to Cady.

I'm sure she will land another show soon.

    • Thanks @Paul Raven  I concur that this isn't the most interesting material, but I do wish I could see how JoBeth Williams played those trial moments.

    • 1976 Pt 5 Joanne’s hopes are raised when Jack seems to respond to the new woman she’s become. She wore a new dress and had a lovely dinner with wine, and when Jack drank more than he was used to having, he reached for her. Her happiness is dimmed when he calls her Peggy, but she says nothing. The next morning, when Jack can remember nothing, she tells him they made love. When Peggy later tells Joanne she’s going to have to stop helping her make herself over as it’s becoming too painful, Joanne angrily lashes back that Peggy might just as well back off, because Jack made love to her last night. Peggy, angry and hurt, asks Jack if it’s true. Realizing that Joanne told Peggy to hurt her, he tells Peg he’s going to ask Joanne for a divorce now. But Peggy is still guilt-ridden over Joanne and, fearing she can’t handle it yet, tells Jack about Joanne’s suicide attempt. Jack, horrified, goes home to see Joanne, who soon realizes that Peggy must have told him about the pills. She assures Jack that she knows life is too precious to ever do that again. Once Jack is satisfied that she really means it, he returns to us Peggy. But Peggy is close to breaking from the guilt and tension she’s living with, and tells Jack that if he’s ever free, they can decide then. Needing a fresh perspective, Peggy takes Chris up on her offer that Peggy spend the night with her, as Snapper won’t be home.  Chris, meanwhile, has been spending her free time preparing Nancy’s apartment for her homecoming. Expressing appreciation for everything she’s done, Ron has offered to make her a table similar to one he’s made for Nancy. Chris has thanked him and has given him her address so he can deliver it. Stuart, wondering why Ron can’t seem to get another job despite the leads he’s been given, checks him out and learns he was in prison for burglary but there was also’ a rape charge, which was dropped. Chris asks Nancy, who explains that before their marriage Ron picked up a woman in a bar. She took him to her apartment and began to seduce him but then screamed rape. He had taken nothing, Nancy adds, but was told he’d rot in prison if he didn’t plead guilty to burglary. No one  told him that the woman had declined to testify. Nancy was the only one who believed him, and she with him against her family’s wishes. Ron walks in at the end of the conversation and informs Chris that he tried to deliver her table but  finally realized he was looking for the wrong address. When Chris later returns to her apartment, she finds Peggy whimpering on the floor in the dark. Slowly Chris gets the story from Peg: The lights wouldn’t -work when she arrived, and she was grabbed from behind, thrown to the floor, and raped. Chris convinces Peggy that the police must be called and manages to protect Peggy from brutal questioning by insisting upon an officer trained in dealing with rape victims. After Peggy is taken to the hospital, the investigator, Miss Weston, asks Chris who might have  known Peg was there—or might want to rape Chris herself. After thinking this over, Chris tells her about Ron. Jack has been trying to reach Peggy. Lashing out from his own pain, Stuart brutally tells him that she’s been raped and he is partially to blame, as she went to Chris’s to get away from her problem—him. Jack is shattered. Instinctively knowing that Ron is guilty, Chris confronts him. But Ron sticks to his story of looking for a wrong address and, under pressure from Chris, finally offers to be in a lineup. Brock tells his mother that Jill wants to visit Phillip’s grave. Kay replies it will be “a cold day in hell” before. She does. But when Jill asks Kay if she would put some flowers on the grave for her and her baby, Kay, touched, breaks down and asks Jill to go with her. Liz, knowing that Kay spends too much time alone, virtually forces her to accept an invitation for dinner and then invites Ralph Olsen, a plumber who is a widower. Kay is aloof at first -they apparently have nothing in common—but when Ralph turns out to be a former alcoholic, the ice is broken. Ralph offers to help Kay with her drinking problem, and she soon finds she likes him very much. Liz becomes concerned with Kay’s assumption that her friendship with Ralph is heading for much more and tries to warn Kay that. Ralph is not the marrying kind. She tries to head Kay off when she makes plans for a “love nest,” but Kay persists and attempts to seduce Ralph at her pool. He evades her passes and asks her if they can’t just slow things down. But Kay is undaunted, and since he isn’t proposing, she does so herself. Ralph, who has told Bill that Kay’s money stands in‘ their way, gently turns her down, explaining that she would need to change him and they wouldn’t be happy. Humiliated and hurt, Kay starts drinking again.
    • I think it wasn't just some of the poor casting choices that did the show in during its early days, but also the flat writing. Perhaps it was network interference? You'd think the Dobsons would have fought harder for their original vision, but after 6 months they dropped most of it.
    • Small Bar is a better set than the casino set.
    • The show loses me once the crime stories are in overload.  Heather and Jerry's marriage doesn't excite me. It would have been tawdry, but I think there should have been more lingering in Heather and/or Greg's feelings for the other. Or at least having someone suspect that their newfound sibling relationship was more complicated. But none of their parents were around. It just feels like they burned through too much story there too quickly.  Ellen and Dale's romance definitely seems intriguing. I don't think I knew they toyed with Jill having feelings for Dale, which would have meant that Jill was once again considering going after her mother's man. That's a very interesting dynamic. With David coming home from Hong Kong, and Tom afraid of David's involvement, I think they should have given Tom and Jill a try. Tom trying to use Jill to buy respectability and maintain power at the law firm.  Vicki and Tony's affair seems like fun with Vicki just seeming to see Tony as more of a sexual object and it leading to a health crisis. There was probably some space to explore that both Tony and Ginger's fathers were criminals (Tony's bio dad). I can't remember if Harry Wilson/Ike Harding died, fled town, or went to prison. If he was alive, I think he would have been worth revisiting.  What fascinated me about "Somerset" in early 1976 is its a show of remnants, pieces of the show's different eras, and they seem to sorta work, not as well as more well defined canvas would. I do think a streamlining was needed, but I am not sure if the criminal angle was the best route to choose.
    • Thanks for finding that about the Andrade home. I think it wasn't show in the opening weeks, but I may be wrong. With Danny in Los Angeles and Santana on her own, I don't think much space was given to Rosa and Reuben. It might have been nice to see them engaged in a healthy relationship threatened by Rosa keeping Santana's recently uncovered pregnancy from Reuben or even a visit from one of their other chidlren.  During the 1991 dinner, I think Rosa stated she would go home after work, which I took to me that she left the Capwell estate.
