The words he used should not have continued to be used. Whether or not he used the "offensive" term or the "accepted by some" term is not the point. The word shouldn't be said period. When you receieve 9 different PMs regarding those comments, action will be taken.

Hands down, one of the best posts in this thread...

I know that I am a human of mix ethnicity and I am a gay man, but those two things are FAR from the only thing that defines me.

I totally see the original point of this thread too, we are not going to get anywhere if we don't talk about these things and get them out in the open. Bottling them all up is only asking for problems.....

Hopefully people that come here to post can finally start to realize that we CAN have intelligent conversations/debates without resorting to out right predjudice...

Yea Ryan, like.....What the hell? You took your Mod liberty and closed that thread so you have no reason to bring any post back, mine or anyone elses. You can be a Mod all you want but that was fucked up. I feel the way I feel and no one can take that from me. Others feel the way they do. For you to take my post and repeat the same thing in a new thread is jacked up. Get off your high horse. You also mentioned the 9 pms. Let those members PM me and we can work it out privately, not in the face of the whole [!@#$%^&*] board.

First off Jay, it's not like the thread was hidden. It was on the freakin second page of this section. I have the right to bring any post back, moderator or not (provided that it's available). What I did wasn't fucked up. Someone wanted to know why it was closed and I gave it to them. Anyone could have said that, but they didn't.

I am not trying to change the way you feel or take anything away from you.

I'm not on my high horse, I was making a point. A point that anyone else could have made. Had you freakin thought because you said what you said, maybe the damn thread would still be open.

I could have warned you (and I should have based on the complaints) but I didn't. Instead, I closed the thread.

Oh, screw it, I'm not holding it in any longer.

God forbid there might actually be some impassioned, heated debates, especially about important issues that should be dealt with. But I suppose it's better just to whitewash (no pun intended) over them all together. :rolleyes:

Shawn, I got your back on this one. In no way should someones' taste be considered hateful or racist. Just because one person is attracted to another kind of person doesn't mean that 'all of a sudden' they hate anyone else.

I'm of mixed heritage, Latino/European, and I happen to find myself attracted to caucasion men more so than other men. That doesn't mean I would never date a person based on their race, just means that's what I'm attracted to.

Ryan let me ask you something. When have you or any other Mod explained yourself. That was a part of the problem before. You closed and didn't explain. What I am saying is I dont know why the hell you chose to all of a sudden start "explaining", Maybe you realized that we are entitled to it, Whatever the case may be. You said the thread was public, Let those members Go and see it, For you, A Moderator to bring it back is only going to cause more uproar. You are supposed to be the problem solver.

I'm the exact same way too. I'm bi, and the only type of men I prefer are white. Does that make me a racist? Hell no it doesn't! But then again, my sexual preferences are no one's business but my own, so no one better dare judge me for them.

Awww.....I'm sorry that you didn't know that the words you were using (no matter in what way you were trying to say it) weren't allowed. Did someone have to tell you that those words aren't allowed here? You should know by now.

I don't have to ever explain why I do the things that I do. For the record, I usually do give an explanation as to why threads that I close are in fact closed. In this case, it wasn't necessary because everyone should have been able to see why.

I chose to explain myself in the past because I felt (and still do) that people should know why their threads are being closed.

I am explaining myself now because a member (who I consider to be my friend) asked a question. I presented him the evidence why. Just because you disliked having the things that you said be used to prove a point is so not my problem.

      While I'm waiting for the new episode to start...let's talk about yesterday's episode.   I honestly really loved it. THIS is what I mean when I talk about how there should be an A story that is dealing with its fallout while the next A story is being built. And then there was even a C plot going on.    The fallout from the Silk Press Sheila/Eva reveal continued. And there were so many elements in play. Beats were being played. And I loved every moment of it. Ted/Eva defiantly going to the country club and being more successful at it than Bill&Hayley. I love that Ted is willing to fight for his marriage. I really want to see where it goes. I didn't like the town gossip, cuz we already have one in Nosy Nurse, but she did keep the tension up. The Nicole/Dani dynamic as sisters being in play...and I'll be in the minority and say that while Dani was Dani, I didn't find her being self-absorbed at all in those scenes. She has already been established as being willing to go there. For herself. AND her sister. So her going in on Ted and Eva was like her. Her dragging her sister out of the house was also like her. No problems. And I can't say how much I loved Jan getting her moment with Silk Press Sheila. Not to mention how much I LOOOOOOVE the showdown between SilkPress and Eva at Orpheny Gene in front of everybody!!!! Giving old school soap. And SilkPress's warning she got more up her sleeve (with a snap) was delicious. And awww at Martin comforting Eva. Kat ain't going to like that.   Speaking of Martin...IT'S HAPPPPENIIIIINGGGGGG!!! Now we are getting words from the night in question. So good to see them FINALLY building out that OTHER A story they started. And good on Martin for backing out from the presidency. I already said I love that the writers found a plausible reason for him to back out. The plot point served its purpose...to get a sense of Martin's personality. Now that he's been built up so we know what to expect from him, no need for it. Moreso since SilkPress's presence will continue to trigger that secret right out of him. Fingers crossed.   And while all that goodness was going on...we got a B plot in the form of Doug/Joey/Vanessa. I like it. It's been allowed to grow. All POVs have been seen except for Joey's really. So seeing him put Doug on the hook officially (so this should be climaxing by end of May then since Doug has one week?) because he wants Doug to move money through Vanessa's business. I continue to wonder where it will go now that I know (and apparently missed it) what Joey's endgame is. I mean...will Doug do it? Will Joey get payback on Vanessa? Or will Vanessa fall into Joey's bed? I feel the show has done a good job developing Doug and Vanessa enough that I am invested in the story. Sidenote...ask and I shall receive aka Dani/Vanessa brief moment at the country club. I really miss them together.    As for the C plot...well...I'm in the minority as well. I actually liked the Ashley/Derek scenes. Not cuz the typical soap himbo scenes...lol...but it was just a nice counterpoint from the other stories going on. And it was just nice to have an episode with A, B, and C stories going on and NOT be jarring and ALSO no quick cuts to another scene. It FLOWED. I actually like Ashley and while her last appearances in solo Derek scenes were DOA, I felt there was more going on. At least this time. It was building on what was already growing...Ashley's annoyance at Derek moving in. Derek...being a typical guy. I am hoping that will go somewhere. And I love that we got another Jan/Ashley scene. At the moment, it's the only thing giving us a clue to Ashley's inner life. That said...I really do want to see her out of her story bubble. There's so much potential with her and her career as a nurse. Moreso given what's going on there.    As for the mysterious stranger...well...I wonder how they are going to play it. Since most of us (but not all so not discussing it farther) know a bit about him.    As for the coda...it is bittersweet now knowing it was Maurice's last scenes. I mean...what do you all think? A nice point for him to stop? We got to see Eva accepting by the father she always wanted to be with since Day 1. Nicole looks on. Quite soapy.

      One more point, researchers at publicly funded universities can profit from successful drug discoveries, but it is often a small percentage compared to the profits of the pharmaceutical company.  Thus, it makes no sense why both Xander and EJ would try to buy the hospital (and its right to the invention).  As opposed to buying a pharmaceutical company, which would make exponentially more profit from Versavix, as well as the many patents that they now own on Dr. Rolf's research! I assume the target audience is also distracted by the plot hole that University Hospital does not own a means of production for Versavix, and that's where the profits are found.  And, that if Xander benefitted from his wife's knowledge about a drug being researched at her hospital, and one day later he made a bid for said hospital, that's called fraud as it is akin to insider trading.

      Some other thoughts on today's show. I don't care for Bill/Hayley as a couple. I think that Bill is sexy and looked good on today's show. But I don't think that him and Hayley really have any chemistry. They seem mostly isolated on the show unless someone like Dani is sparring with one of them. I do wonder what is going on with Bill's hand and why it is trembling. He is trying to keep that from Hayley. I also don't care for June right now. I like Jacob/Naomi but would rather see them do something else than what they are currently doing with June right now.  I liked Nicole/Dani continuing to support one another after the fallout from their marriages. I think it's interesting that Nicole asked Dani if something was going on between her and Andre and Dani lied about it. I do wonder if Dani/Andre are starting to have stronger feelings for each other (maybe even falling for each other a little bit). It does seem like stronger feelings are developing between them and I wonder where that may lead for their storyline. And I enjoyed Anita/Vernon as well. I like that he supports her and wants her to do the reunion with the Articulettes. It does seem like at one of them really doesn't want much to do with her after she reached out on today's show. But maybe they will reunite and there will be drama between her and her bandmates. I am interested in seeing who the show may cast as her bandmates. I hope they get a couple of good actresses in the role.

      Angela Bassett was also on somewhere in 1985 wasn't she. The NY soaps did so much for struggling actors. That's one of the reasons I will never stop hoping we get more of them.

      Oh, yeah as the episode went on, I love that they gave a plausible reason for him to back out. Most soaps who use an idea/story point to define a character would just drop it and make it seem so jarring and out of character. So I love common sense...or the SilkPress craziness...won out.

      I really enjoyed today's show. Today was the most I have ever liked Martin. It was very sweet how he invited Eva to get to know his family. He has good chemistry with her (along with Kat). I liked how she got to know and started to bond with his family including Samantha who was understandably standoffish with her at first. I thought her styling Samantha with different looks at the end was cute. Martin's family is her family now too and I liked how he made that clear to everyone at pizza night at his home. The twins have a new Auntie.

        I think it will be interesting to watch Martin/Eva bond along with her bonding with the rest of his family. And seeing how others including Nicole and especially Kat react to that. I thought for a moment that Kat might actually show up at pizza night after Martin invited her but she didn't. I also enjoyed Eva trying with Kat. They do have chemistry together and they are cute, lol. I do think they could end up being twins, but even if they aren't I still enjoy them together. Whether it's sparring or Eva trying to bond with her or whatever.
