I was shocked that Haley made the top 12. She is so plain vanilla. I'm like Simon .... what's her name, I don't remember her. I was shocked. What an injustice. Not shocked at Sanjaya. He does have a charm and I rather enjoy him myself. He won't be difficult to watch because he is just a happy looking sweet kid and a good voice. I am again in Simon's corner saying that Stephanie should be third after Melinda and LaKisha. I hope she blossoms and can get the fanbase she deserves. Frankly, I only see Chris S., Chris R., and Blake in the top six. It will be a girls event in the end I think.

I was shocked by the shocker LOL. Stunned may be more accurate. I thought, what on earth does this have to do with Ameican Idol. It's a fine thing but just out of the blue. I thought it was a bit wrong to announce it the way it was. At any rate, it's a great gesture.

There are too many divas on this season and that's why I think Sabrina went home. Sabrina, Lakisha, Stephanie and Melinda are all different but are still the big voice diva type singers. In years past there were more options and usually a country singer in the mix. I think Melinda will eventually win the diva vote and Lakisha and Stephanie will go earlier than some expect which will help at least one boy make it to the final.

Bra-VA. Calling something a "stepping stone" is not a bad thing.

Especially if J.Hud used it to refer to AI. And THAT'S what Simon's pissed about?

Uh, uh, sorry, girlfriend, but that dog won't hunt.

Simon, AI doesn't get just anyone an Oscar. Grammy, maybe, but NEVER and Oscar. That's HUGE. So, for J.Hud, "stepping stone" is the right word. Because when it comes to acting, AI didn't help. That was ALL on J.Hud.

Oh, did ANYONE see EVERYONE'S face -- most importantly, SABRINA'S -- when she got voted off?

I wasn't expecting that at all, based on talent, but again I also was, you know? I really half-expected the vote to stay would go to Haley; ESPECIALLY after the indelible image of Simon ripping her to shreds while her fiance was heartbroken for her out in the audience. She gets sympathy that way. People don't want to let her FIANCE down.

Im glad Haley stayed bc I like her. She has a great personality and while not the best singer, she tries her best adn has fun. I dont see her staying long though

I know this is superficial, but I hated Sabrina's hair and am not sad to see her gone bc I hate the curly/stringy look. It does nothing for her

Is anyone even srurpised that Sanjaya stayed? Once I saw him with Sunsance, I knew he was staying. They do this every year. They put a young teen boy who lacks talent and he becomes the show's whipping boy. Simon bashes him and voters to keep him in all while good singers go home and he's made out to be a big joke. Sanjaya is this years joke. Last year it was Kevin (Chicken Little) and the year before it was Jon Stevens. I feel bad for Sanjaya bc unlike them, he doesnt seem to have as tough skin and I dont think he will take to the criticisim and bashing too well

DaysnPassionsFan ain't that the truth. Blake has originality and style, while Melinda has poise and control. Out of the boys I think Blake excels. Chris R. channels Justin Timberlake too much an is cringeworthy at lower notes. I can't wait to see how Melinda/Lakisha handle the theme week. IMHO Melinda is probably the best thing on Idol since Frenchie. Her voice, control, versatility, and power is incredible. Lakisha is great too, but I keep seeing her as trying to be the next Jennifer Hudson. Annnnd she hasn't shown as much versatility, or range yet. She excels at the high notes, and has a powerful voice, but lacks at the softer side. I can already guarantee that next time she'll be singing R.E.S.P.E.C.T. Oy.

alwaysAMC thanks for the YouTube link! I've watched it about a dozen times now :D Funny thing I noticed...Lakisha's aunts were up and standing when Melinda first begun, and then around 1:40 to 1:45 they are completly still. LOL they KNOW that there niece has a STIFF competitor in Melinda, and I bet they were scurrred

As for the top 12... can't really complain because my three favorites are there (Melinda/Blake/Stephanie).

BTW note to judges: YOU put them through so DON'T be floored when a so-called bad singer makes it. IDIOTS. And secondly, Mr. Randy Jackson, stop your BULL on how people shouldn't tackle certain singers like Mariah and Whitney. And what's funny is that Lakisha sings a Whitney song and doesn't get called on her shi.t and yet Stephanie does it and it's like 'hold up?' WTF ever judges.

One more thing...I'm tired of I HAVE NOTHING. <_<

Maybe because LaKisha did Whitney justice and sang the heck out of that song.

I agree that Melinda will surpass the other divas. Stephanie will be the first out in our first "shocker" elimination. Same will go for Phil (both are good, but I can't see them really knocking it out of the park). Brandon, Sanjaya and Haley will be the first three out, if there is a god.

Chris Sligh, Melinda, Blake and Jordin will be our final four. I'm almost convinced of it. Lakisha will come just short, like many past divas.

She sang it just like Whitney though. I thought they preached on 'make it your own.' Too much of a double standard there. Now Melinda makes the songs her own (My Funny Valentine, hands down). Lakisha did a good job, but it's been done to death, and we know that she can belt it out, so I'd like to see something different.

As for Melinda...even if she doesn't make it, she still has a bight future ahead.

LOL, I was just thinkin' of how funny (and yet sad) it would be, if your own family voted against you.

Blake is really different. Hicks was really different. If the voters are on the role for different this year, Blake could win. I really love his EVERYTHING LOL. Melinda should be doing her own tours already and LaKisha is wonderful, but it could be Blake and LaKisha. I love Chris S. and Chris R. but they are not different really except that Chris R. may be more popular due to a Western trend. Just musing. I need to see them all in the big stage performances.

It's only one elimation from here on in Jean. That is the way it always is. I do think Brandon and Haley could go home very early. I am hoping Sanjaya is first though.

I LOVED Vonzell. She improved so much as she went along. I hear nothing about her now. I wonder if anyone else has heard anything?

    • Doug III’s first day of work. Hope he does a good job… or that Tate tries to sabotage him somehow

His scenes with Holly were nice though. They’re sweet together and I understand why some people think that they have more chemistry than Tate/Holly do. And I liked that Doug III opened up to her about his past. Maybe that could lead to something good happening in the future.  I also enjoyed Roman and Kate, and how they’re both being tied into EJ’s shooting. The mystery of it all is really compelling. I don’t think Roman is the shooter though either.  I didn’t have much sympathy for Kristen though. She has no one to blame for Rachel’s problems than herself. But at the same time, I’m really surprised that Days actually remembered the Alex/Kristen fling. I thought Ron had erased that from existence. I’m not shipping them at all, but I’m definitely shipping a permanent end to Brady/Kristen but after today, I’m not so sure about that either.  And, Johnny and Chanel were still great together

    • Some country club revelation thoughts from a casual watcher no one asked for. The Great: Daphnee Duplaix gave the best performance we've seen yet. Nicole's dialogue was also well thought out and felt character specific. TJ Maxx Ted was also pretty good. Trisha Mann-Grant steals every scene she's in. Often without even trying. Carrying multiple episodes worth of exposition heavy soap dialogue with starts and stops and recapping and drama and humor is no small feat and she nailed. Vernon telling Lesliana to STFU.  The Bad: So much of the dialogue for the rest of the cast was overly written. Martin said "You are a vile human being with a hole in your heart!". Marty, what are we doing? It's SO dramatic and sounds so silly coming from this grown man. Do Bill and Hayley do anything but talk about the Duprees? And the nerve of her to get so excited to find out Ted is a cheater when she and her husband are too. There should be a hint of shame mixed in with your glee, ma'am. The Questionable: Coffee and a rendition of Amazing Grace after finding out Nicole was betrayed by her husband. The Duprees are an odd bunch. The stinger of one segment had Anita prepared to lambast Lesliana, when we came back someone else was talking. When Anita eventually said something to Wig, it was a lukewarm at best. And then of course she thought singing a song about something that should absolutely not be extended to her son-in-law. The entire family allowing this deranged woman to speech at them in their own was...nuts. I know she said something about what would the neighbors say but my GOD. Is she just going to be allowed to trespass whenever she feels like it now? The focus on Leslie and her wig usage as an oddity is...odd. I think Chelsea said something like "and she wears wigs!" (while wearing a buss down middle part). Okay? It's just not that odd for a black woman to change up her hair. It's the different names that's the problem. I know it's meant to be humorous, in a throwback soap kind of way, but it fell flat for me.  I'm sorry I find the whole family to be WEIRD. It's like they want us to see them as ruthless yet benevolent, open yet furtive, snobbish yet tooth achingly sweet all at the same time. I cannot get a lock on the family dynamics. Everyone is just there.  I'm gonna cry if this show doesn't start giving us ages (or close to it!) for these characters. Because if Eva is 21-22 then Martin was being given crayons, a soda pop and blinders when he was 15-17 years old. Martin had to have been under 8 for me to buy this story, which would make Eva and Kat late 20s (Martin is at least 35 since he wants to run for president), which I don't think they're meant to be. It's honestly minor but it bothers me. I've mentioned this to @Vee but I think the optics on opening the show with both sisters discovering their husbands of over 30 years are cheaters should've been considered. I doubt there was any intention behind it, no one's rubbing their hands together as they scheme to say the married black men can't stay loyal but how does it look? Maybe it's just me. Honestly it's probably just me!
    • Thank you very much!!!! I really appreciate it!!! I also have read the GH coffee table book from the 90s!!!
    • For a homeless woman, June sure has nice teeth. I agree Ted didn't bring the power in the fallout scenes but to can him and leave Tomas, Martin and Derek onscreen? i'm not looking forward to Martin's secret being revealed and have him flail in the spotlight scenes. Yes, he's got a little better, but... When someone like Timon delivers with every line reading, you wonder how some other casting decisions were made. And I need sunglasses every time characters are at Uptown-is that green paint left over from GL's Cedars Hospital makeover? And for the cliffhanger, instead of the Door dash nonsense, simply have Leslie encounter Vanessa on her way out and push past her to enter. As there is no front door have Leslie barge into the living room, with Vanessa following.  Then Nicole can tell Vanessa- it's OK she can leave them alone.
