Brother I'm right there with you. I picked Laurel because I either can't stand or am not enthused by any of the other pairings. It would have been Daniel and Lily if my Davetta was still around and in fact I did choose them at first but thought better of it. They might think I want to see more of that creature.

I don't understand, Amber gets hired and suddenly thrusted in our faces, on everyday, yet Ji Min who seems to have caught on with viewers gradually is nowhere to be seen for over a month. Doesn't make any sense.

I picked Jill for who I want to see more of because I want to make sure there's some effing followthrough on this storyline.

Yes, I had to support Jill/William and Jill because she needs it the most. With Jill having no friends or family they tend to forget about her. Last year when Katherine was backburned she at least had Mackenzie telling her about her latest bowel movements. Jill? Sitting in an office once a month shuffling papers.

I almost did the same thing, lol! Hopefully since Vincint Irizarry's first week is with Dru that means it's a possible chemistry test. I keep hearing Sharon, but I like her with Jack and I'm not sure I see her with Irizarry. Now him with Victoria Rowell could be some hotness! We'll see...

All I know is that Dru needs to leave Neil's sorry ass! Maybe he could go back to Victoria?

Or whether J.T. gave her an orgasm the night before.

A Kay and Mac Bonding Moment....

Mac: Grandmother, I had my first orgasm with J.T. last night! And it was just wonderful! The bee's knees!

Kay: That's fine, dear. I'm so happy for you. Now, tell me... when was your last bowel movement? I want details. Size. Color. Texture. Smell. Everything! (Yelling towards the kitchen.) ESTHER, BRING US SOME TEA!!! ESTHER!!!!!! Now where were we? Oh, yeah, we were discussing your BM...

1) What was the best part of the ice storm?

Jack delivering Phyllis’ baby in the elevator (Great performances)

Brad and Sharon’s night together (Good, not great)

Sylvia Browne helping Kay solve her mystery (Amber was too involved in the Katherine Baby mystery. Glad to see Esther.)

Colleen and Professor Korbel sleeping together (I hate it when characters are dumbed down & assassinated like Colleen has been. I can't stand Korbel. Kill him off now!)

Nick rescuing Daniel after his car accident (That was good, but Lily/C. Khalil were annoying & the fallout was non-existent. My

goodness, Daniel almost died!)

I didn’t get to see those episodes (I watch Y&R every day)

The "ice storm" SL was very disappointing! I refuse to call it an ice storm! The fallout was non-existent! LML & Hamner rush thru SL and/or drop them without any warning! Nikki & Sharon's Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder, anyone?

2) Looking back at 2006, who has been your favorite couple?

Nikki and Victor (Her PTSD & Victor's bout with temporal lobe epilepsy would have made for a much better SL)

Jack and Sharon (There's potential. But my guess is that TPTB are keeping all their options open with all couples)

Phyllis and Nick (I hate the PHICK term applied to them. She became too surgary, a Stepford wife if you will. A better SL would have been the exploration of Phyllis' criminal past: attempted murder (Christine), arson, murder (Sasha Green) etc)

Brad and Victoria (You don't really see/feel the love Victoria claims she has for Brad/George. Victoria underwent character assassination.)

Brad and Sharon (This was great. Loved it when Nick caught them making out in the parking lot!)

Victoria and J.T. (Hell no!)

J.T. and Colleen (Boring. Problems in their relationship are contrived. Colleen underwent character assassination & was dumbed down)

Colleen and Professor Korbel (Boring. Sickening. Repetitive.)

Daniel and Lily (Good, but the fallout surrounding the revelation that Daniel was responsible for Lily almost dying could have been better. She forgave him in record time. Lily smartened up, then was dumbed down. I miss Davetta Sherwood :( )

Dru and Neil (V. Rowell is a phenomenal actress & KS John handled his scenes very well. Together they're electrifying :D)

Gloria and John (Killing off John was a huge mistake. Marla Adam's Dina Mergeron could have returned, lead ing to a discussion on abadonment, the revelation that Ashley's biological dad is Brent Davis, that Gloria is the Glow Again Cream Killer & the divorce of John & Gloria. John was dumbed down before he died.)

Gloria and William (they're a couple?)

Jill and William (The head of an international company can't see past Gloria's schemes? William is an a-hole.)

Kevin and Jana (Lots of potential with these two. Jana is very mysterious & I can't wait to see what she's all about)

Michael and Lauren (Many of their scenes were boring. Having Lauren deal with the many complex issues surrounding her 1st pregnancy & the lack of a tight bond b/w SG Jr. would have made for a better SL.)

3) Who was your Y&R favorite newcomer in 2006?

Amber (Displaying a few signs of smartness meaning Colleen is the dumbest character on the show, even dumber than Lily.)

Jana (More of her please :D)

Carmen (Killing her off too early was a mistake. All b/c, M. Ramirez "lacked chemistry" b/w her male co-stars? What a crock!)

Professor Korbel (Hell no! )

William Bardwell (A-hole)

Billy Abbott (In Hong Kong with no biz experience? How on earth did S. Seymour get hired in the 1st place? Casting couch? Friend of Latham? His acting reminds me of cardboard )

Ji Min (More of him please. He would be great in scenes with Keemo Volien, if they ever choose to reprise the character)

Maggie Sullivan (Can't stand her)

4) Which male character would you like to see more of in 2007?

Victor (Been loving him since 2004. Pleased to see his softer side. Now, what about abadonning Victor Jr.?)

Nick (What happened to him? The later part of '06 let him down. Boring scenes with Phyllis.)

Jack (I LOVE HIM! P. Bergman is PHENOMENAL. Loved the scene with Ashley where he said: Would I do it again? HA!)

Michael (Underwent character assassination by BREAKING THE LAW to help a woman he doesn't truly love )

Brad (Underwent character assassination by not quitting his job at N. Enterprises, a well-known international company. No

wonder the evil art collectors tracked him down.)

Kevin (G. Rikaart is an underappreciated actor)

Paul (He abadonned TWO kids, explore that instead of Sheila Round 20!)

Neil (Love him)

Devon (The build up & lack of fallout surrounding his hearing loss was piss-poor! Slow down, Latham/Hamner!)

Daniel (The Alex SL was poorly executed. He almost DIED during the "ice storm" & yet, no fallout.)

Professor Korbel (I've said enough about him.)

Ji Min (Wasted just so we could see more of Colleen/JT/Korbel crap)

William Bardwell (I've said enough about him)

J.T. (Almost a "vet". Happy "veteran" lovers/whiners?)

5) And which female character?

Nikki (A PTSD SL would be great. :D)

Phyllis (Only if u explore her CRIMINAL past)

Lauren (Don't waste her on anything involving Sheila)

Jana (How many jobs has she had? :D)

Gloria (Reveal that she's the Glow Again Cream Killer, then send her jail for at least 10 years!:lol:)

Dru (I LOVE HER)

Sharon (A PTSD SL would be great :D)

Amber (I think she's tied into the PC III Is Alive SL.)

Lily (ONLY if Davetta returns)

Colleen (Nope!)

Katherine (The PC III Is Alive SL is off to a great start)

Jill (same as Katherine response. Plus: Smarten her up. Let her see Gloria for what she truly is, a conniving, remorseless, bottom-

feeding killer!)

Question: Is it true that LM Latham wants to hold off on revealing Gloria as the Glow Again Cream Killer until they recast Ashley or re-hire E. Davidson?

    • Until the show brought him back and ruined him anew in the early 00s, the character of Craig Montgomery was definitely put on the road to redemption in his friendship with his ex-wife Betsy Androupolos during mid 1980s ATWT. There were other factors that also helped redeem his character, like his tortured, at times star-crossed romance with Sierra Esteban but his friendship with Betsy (over the vehement objections of Betsy’s husband Steve) and the reaction to it exemplified Craig’s struggles to shed his reputation. Betsy’s insistence that her ex-husband is indeed a changed man and her steadfast loyalty to their friendship got almost everyone who held a harsh judgment against him to reconsider their judgments about Craig.
    • Looking at that cover, did Tristian Rogers and Emma Samms ever have a real life relationship? I know it's the National Enquirer and all...
    • There's going to be a certain amount of freewheeling behavior in any creative space no matter what. It certainly exists in the places I work. A fair amount of it is not okay with me. How you engage with it or don't based on what you feel is right or wrong to tolerate or participate with is down to the individual. But the work I do also isn't nearly as claustrophobic or high-pressure a closed-in environment as the writers' room of a network TV show from 20 years ago. Most of the work I do as a writer is remote and has only a few points of direct contact; if I don't want to engage, I simply don't reply. Most don't have that luxury. I do think you can chalk some of what went down onscreen at Lost to the times generally being very different in the culture in general - the network and creative focus on white leads, white love triangles, etc. above all. But the offscreen frathouse mentality, while also exceedingly and drearily common, reaching such wild heights at a show that prided itself on headlining media criticism courses before it went off the air, on being 'the thinking man's hit' just because it named characters after famous philosophers is... well, also unsurprising. I never thought anyone at that show was a creative genius. I have generally made it a point to avoid following most of the creatives' work since, though some are genuinely talented. I also watched a great deal of the latter half of Lost when it aired once it was given a clear end date, in a period in my life where I had very little to do with my time lol and because I wanted to see if they could possibly square the circle with all the mystery boxes and empty hype they'd built themselves around (I'd watched bits and pieces of the first several seasons). It was hatewatching, and the answer to my above question is they couldn't. Watch it again; for the bulk of the run of the show they simply go back and forth from Point B to Point C, learn nothing and continue to have circular 'character building' flashbacks. It was a formula and it was for treading water. But Lost is still venerated today. Everything it is credited as having done for popular entertainment and storytelling was done first and much better by other shows, Twin Peaks among them and most noticeable. Yet Lost gets the lion's share for making this kind of storytelling marketable and broadly commercial, because it is a show led predominantly by bland white leads embarking on a series of Legend of Zelda fetch quests while propped up with savvy mid-late aughts viral-marketing tie-ins and charismatic showrunners. To me Lost is a how-to manual for making a certain kind of successful four-quadrant hit, not any kind of artistic legacy. This is what always enraged me about the show. Even Ryan's (very well written) excerpt suggests it is settled fact that Lost was well-written and elevated drama. I never felt that way and I still don't. It was poorly done but passed off as high art. Which, fine, you can sell art to the general public by packaging it a certain way onscreen, I understand that and I champion it - but other people have done it better and smarter, to say nothing of more inclusively. It was clear they were winging it in so many ways, yet to this day they claim that ending was some true north for them all along. Come on.
    • #3896 – Monday, January 20th 1969 – missing ? #3897 – Tuesday, January 21st 1969 Ken woke up early and rememberd the melody Laurie played on the piano. Jill was surprised he was whistling. Susan phoned and asked Jill for lunch to talk about Amy’s baby as she learned Jill knew. Jill remained evasive towards Ken. At Paul’s office, Bob Hill appeared and Paul introduced Bob – Valerie’s son – to Jill. After Jill left, Bob told Paul he didn’t want to get involved in his marital situation because he liked Amy a lot and was once interested in Belle. He wasn’t giving legal advice but as a friend, he thouth Paul should go back to Amy. Paul was angry at first. Ken phoned Laurie. He was interested in her song but was frustrated there were no lyrics. She suggested he had to do some and he said he would try. At The English pub, Susan told Jill she thought Amy’s attitude was absurd. She hoped Jill would be able to change Amy’s mind. They were interrupted by Paul and Bob who exchanged greetings. Jill was uneasy. Paul wondered why his secretary was at the pub with his wife’s sister and why she didn’t mention it to him. When Jill returned to the office, Paul assured her Susan and she couldn’t bring him and Amy back together. #3898 – Wednesday, January 22th 1969 Sam and Eleanor planned to work in the Stevens’ home and Sam invited her to dinner. Ken told Jill was late and couldn’t fix dinner. When Sam answered a phone call, Eleanor question Ken again on Nola Hollister’s good deed when he was on the verge of being fired but Ken departed. Eleanor offered to cook leftovers for Sam. When Sam complimented her, she felt very proud. From a cabin booth, Ken called the Hollisters and Nola answered. Laurie wasn’t home. Wilfried heard and wondered why Sam’s son – the hippie bartender – was trying to reach for his daughter. When Laurie came home, Wilfred informed her she had a phone call from a married man. Nola assured Wilfred Laurie met Ken at the club when they were having lunch and they talked music. Eleanor told Wilfred about her tenant problem. Her tenant was a divorcee who entertained men and Eleanor didn’t approve. Sam said she might be a little too rigid. When the name of Valerie appeared in the conversation, Sam took offense. He knew she didn’t approve of Val but she should keep her opinion to herself. Sam was growing more and more attached to her. Eleanor was appalled. After Wilfred left, Laurie asked Nola if Ken said more on the phone. It was probably about the lyrics but Nola shouldn’t say Wilfred. Nola assured she wouldn’t, Wilfred would not understand.
