I know you were asking Toups, but my understanding from reading earlier posts is that GL had to cut three writers in order to stay within the small budget given to it by the network.

Toups probably has more context and more detailed and accurate information. For instance, I am not sure about the 3 number.

Jenelle Lindsay is kind of random choice for Y&R. She worked on PC, but long after Latham had left.

Perhaps Jill Lorie Hurst decided to leave on her own? Who knows, she could end up elsewhere. She'd probably get a much better deal working on another soap.

There are and will be lots of changes in the writer's rooms of all the shows.

Word still is that Corday's getting Cwikly back to co-headwrite in the fall. Meg Kelly will remain as a scriptwriter.

Jill Hurst was not on the announced list of fired writers; she's friends with Kriezman and has been with the show many years, first as a production assistant/writer's assistant, then Brown/Estensen promoted her. She's been a breakdown writer, script writer, script editor and currently a breakdown writer. My guess is she left on her own to join AMC's dialog writing staff. Brown/Estensen will probably hire others to replace the hack scriptwriters at AMC. AMC should hire Smilow and Miller. While GL stories stink, the dialog is usually top notch for daytime.

Alden is NOT going to B&B; Brad Bell and she don't get along. Brad wanted her canned before; but instead he installed Smith with her as co-head. That was the time she almost got hired by ABC to write AMC (as she stated in Logan's column at the time in TvGuide).

The other rumor is that Latham got rid of Ferri and demoted Cwikly to pay the large salary her husband, B. Lechowick, commands. She wants to (and Bloom is supportive) to make Bernie the co-exec producer and co-head, which he is already. He edits scripts, writes breakdowns and scripts and is creative consultant..How much more power does he need.

Word is that Bloom wants Griffith to exec produce/headwrite ATWT, but Griffith wants to stay in CA and he's working on a bible for a new soap.

Oh, RavenWhitney, I really want to trust you, but could you please tell us all how do you know this? Just don't tell me "if you want to believe it, then believe it, if not, ..."

The only thing I'm certain about is the Bradley Bell / Kay Alden â€" it was so obvious from her Q&A over at MIT, the way she spoke about B&B and so on. I wrote about that back then.

Yes Raven, do give us an idea of why we should believe you. Not attacking you, I actually do believe what you wrote. Whenever they credit these creative consultants, it leads to a HW. Thats what happened to Latham at Y&R, Ron at OLTL and wasn't that how Alden was credited at AMC before turning them down?

I am not liking that despite the nose dive the show has taken they're letting Latham fire more people and the solution is to hire her husband? WTF? These people clearly don't know how to write a soap opera. It's very strange.

The Josh Griffin/ATWT thing is promising because I don't think anyone thinks they will make any changes. Even if he turns them down, at least they seem to be looking.

Raven, isthere any reason why we should believe what you say? You don't even say that it's a rumour, you say it as if it's really going to happen.

April 4: "Sheffer will be fired after summer ends. Esensten/Brown will take over with Milstein as co-headwriter.

You heard it here first."

December 6: "Peter Brash, a friend of Cwickly, will surely show up on Y&R as a writer, if he's been canned by Sheffer (as has been reported by Jason47). Brash lives in LA now and will be scooped up by Latham....."

September 29: "This is major news, people. Huge shakeup...biggest ever. Brad Bell wants Smith and will probably get him as CBS prepares to turn that show into an hour program. Alden is a different matter. Brad Bell wanted her replaced by Smith in the first instance. So she ain't going to B&B. The next big bombshell is that ABC has finally landed her to take over AMC, which is why you haven't heard about Burton Armus for a while. Agnes Nixon has wanted Alden for years, and now will get her. Armus is going to OLTL. Guza's staying on GH through next summer. ABC wants to pull up AMC and OLTL and thinks GH ratings will improve without a HW change."

This is to TOUPS and CHRIS B,

Is "raven whitney" also 'sposed to be [s.W.S.N.B.N.]? She/he talks a helluva lot about Burton Armus.

I just want to know since I'm new around here and personally know [!@#$%^&*] and know for a fact that

she's never posted on this board before but some people on here said she has.

    • They’ve been really nailing the fall out super well and your whole post really highlights some of the great parts and ramifications we’re seeing.
    • I like that this episode highlighted the ramifications of what Eva and her rotten mama did. They were so focused on Ted and Nicole, not even realizing that other people would be affected. Eva thought nothing of what she did to Mona bc she was sure no on would hold anything against her but Mona is right in that they ruined her reputation with the Duprees. They dont blame her but they will likely never trust her judgement again. She has to walk by them feeling the guilt and shame that she'll never live down bc she unknowingly played a role in the hell that was unleashed. Not to mention the trauma and trust issues she no has bc she genuinely viewed Leslie as a friend   And poor Laura nearly died when she had that car accident and then had a heart attack and infection bc she was poisond. She's been recuperating for 3 months. She missed her trip to Hawaii and no idea what impact this has done on her relationship and her own plans but no on was thinking about that.   Eva and Leslie need to be made to feel like ish bc this was bigger than just Ted and Nicole

    • Understand your point.  But I usually see Reginald's mustache twirling villainy as ultra campy bordering on comedic (albeit unsuccessfully).  And upon Reginald's exit, most of the overt camp/comedy seemed to cease. And although I'm aware camp and comedy are not exactly the same thing, I tend to throw them together anyway -- especially when discussing soaps.  You are correct, Mary was not played for laughs.  When I used to term "let's play everything for laughs" I didn't mean literally everything or every character was comedic. But TPTB put so much effort into comedy, it did tend to eat the show for a few years (again not literally). I'm just expressing my perspective on the topic, and lots of folks probably disagree.  That's cool. People who like comedy on soaps tend to defend it, and folks who don't like comedy (or think it want too far) tend to criticize it.  Whichever side of the fence one is on, it sure didn't help the ratings on AW.
    • Nope, it was not just you, I had the same issues. Most either disagreed with me, or just ignored my comments. But, I most definitely would have liked for them to take another route, even to add sheer variety in the storytelling. It is what it is, the story is a hit with the fans...
    • You may be a casual watcher, but you got SO much right.
    • I've been eagerly awaiting Kate's first episode under the new writers, and I wasn't disappointed. I started reminiscing about all of Kate's misdeeds when she said how good of a liar she was and how she saw right through Roman's lying. I really buy this matured, but still wise Kate in 2025, and the fact that you know under the right circumstances, the more ruthless side is always there, under the surface. Hopefully, with Roman about to confess, we get the full truth about just what the hell happened with Johnny the night EJ was shot, then all the major suspects will be eliminated, just for the writers to throw in that wrench that's waiting for it's time to shine. Everytime Brady thaws even a little bit towards Kristen I immediately get concerned. I was entertained by their fight, and it was smart to mention Kirsten having no friends, let alone positive female relationships except for Lani in regards to why Rachel is such a loser. As a viewer, do you think Stacy Haiduk as Kristen was at all thinking about her former friendships with Jennifer and Billie in that moment? I wonder if she's even aware that they were, or who Billie even is. Anyway, I do wish Kristen could have also thrown in Brady's face that he's literally the biggest slut in Salem. Rachel seeing and possibly hearing about him going from woman to woman would also negatively affect Rachel's negative ideals about women, and possibly her own self-hatred. I thought Doug's favourite class being English lit was a good through line from how impressed he was with grandpa Doug's poetry book to Julie. Hearing he dropped out because no one at home cared just made me yearn for more information about Charles LeClair as a father and person. Maybe it was this time that Robert LeClair was dying so Charles was distracted and it all fell apart after that? Alex with Kristen today is the most interesting I've seen him written. He was smarmy and cold and for a quick second looked like he was enjoying playing with Kristen clearly throwing herself at him, but when she dropped her facade he became merciful, but still unwilling to budge. He would have fit in well in the more complex 70s era as a cad with a heart underneath his bravado. However, and I can't stress this enough, I absolutely despise whenever he calls Philip, 'Phil.' It just itches my brain in all the wrong ways.
