Major character exiting the show at the end of the season.

I don't regularly watch the show, but this is pretty sad, considering how long the series has been running, among other reasons, but I guess it was bound to happen sooner or later.

I can't believe this show has been on 13 season. So weird to think I was in my 20s when it started.   Generally, I can't watch procedures.  Still, I've found this show comforting over the years. I used to marathon it when I was feeling depressed just to have familiar voices in the background.

Already posted two posts above yours.

There is something comforting about it, the times I've watched. It's entertaining and easy to just sit back and watch. Clearly, there's a reason for its loooong lived success, and that's part of it.

I remember taking care of the episode guide during Season 2, and the shock of Sasha Alexander's departure, then wondering if the show could outlive JAG. I never thought it would reach Season 13. Sadly, I stopped somewhere during Season 6, and I don't think I'll ever watch everything, but tuning in occasionally is not a waste of time.

However, Weatherly's departure will hurt the show, IMO, unless Gary Glasberg has something up his sleeve.

The Tony/Gibbs and Tony/Tim relationships are so core to the show, that it's hard for me to imagine what the show will try to do once Tony leaves. I already think the show's been on a down slide since Bellsario left (which I think was the season after Jenny was killed off), even though the show's ratings continued to rise.

I'm not sure there's really a point to going on if Tony's leaving. There's no more "Gibbs mythology" to explore, Tim isn't interesting enough to drive the Gibbs' team of underlings, and Ellie continues to be a bust. But I'm sure CBS will get as much blood out of this stone as they can before retiring it.

    • Haha. The fact that I stopped regularly viewing at the same time and know what you are talking about is chef's kiss.    I'm slowly bingewatching Nurse's Ball Week. But it's slow for me because a lot of the same tics and writing flaws for me that made me throw up my hands is still evident *cough*CVE*cough* Thankfully, there are some things I like also and from a glance in the GH May Thread, it seem like it had a good Sweeps with good fallout. And do I even need to mention Nina finally slapping the taste out of Carly's mouth? See? Regardless of her flaws, I do enjoy Korte-headed episodes over CVE-headed episodes because they always seem to have more emotional resonance to long-time fans.
    • And that charity does still get mentioned from time to time. I want to say the last time was some time this year, too.
    • Oh, no. Vernon has definitely had his moments.   Choose silence anyone?
    • Search YT for Edwyn Sanchez, he posted an AI enhanced episode of ATWT and it is beautiful.
    • That's so funny, that's how I listen to Montecito - while walking my dog. I'll have to check out Forever & a Day.
    • I need to listen! Forever & a Day was a fun soapy podcast to have available when I walked the dog.
    • A few years ago, Devon and Nick started a charity organization together, I think it's for housing in the community.
    • I’m hoping to start getting to know Vernon better this month. He’s really only been a bunch of noble and good tropes so far. I don’t want him to be taken down the way Ted has been, but it seems he was a long-running Senator and no matter what party you are, lasting longer than twenty years means you’re looking out for you (and not who you’re supposed to be looking out for) most of all. I want to get to know both Vernon and Anita beyond their Dupree posturing. Clifton Davis can sleepwalk handling the kind of material Christopher Bernau and David Lewis handled and I’d like to see more than just a saint.
    • I thought Emily/Hal was a really interesting pairing. And I think KMH played that version of Emily very well! It might not have been what people wanted from Emily, and the writing got pretty gross at the end, but I thought she embodied that character effectively.
    • Don't know if this exactly fits here, but it is connected: Does this abandoned building look familiar? It is one of those explorer videos - and the outside may look VERY familiar if one watched GH in the '70s and '80s!
