  1. The replies to this are hilarious. I can't wait until he drops out.
  2. A lot of people don't realize that Trump is bankrupting the Republican Party. He's sucking up all the money for his legal defense. https://www.npr.org/2023/08/07/1192255293/state-gop-woes-colorado-michigan
  3. The bigger threat to soaps is the ongoing strikes. Also, people can stream soaps now.
  4. Not me. This man has spent his life trying to destroy our democracy and advance the cause of white supremacy. He is directly responsible for harm done to millions of people in this country. He's made it clear that he will happily spend his every last breath in service of evil. He's earned this pain and I'm happy that I get a chance to watch. "The single most important thing we want to achieve is for President Obama to be a one-term president.” [!@#$%^&*] him. I hope to see Barack and Michelle dance on his grave to "At Last."
  5. Fox News melting down because the right's juvenile insult of Joe Biden got ripped right out of their nasty little hands is a great way to end this week.
  6. Same here. I said after Hillary's loss that I would never fall "in love" with a politician again but I love Biden like family and it breaks my heart to see what these jackals are doing to Hunter.
  7. We're already getting a preview of what losing McConnell will mean with this Tuberville mess. People keep asking why McConnell allowed Tuberville to hold up military promotions but it's clear now that McConnell has no real power anymore. We see the mess in the House but clearly the Senate GOP is unraveling too.
  8. I could tell that the jounobros in the media pretty much decided that that Bluesky was their preferred destination which is another reason I have no interest. The Washington Post did a whole puff piece about how cool Bluesky is. https://www.washingtonpost.com/technology/2023/04/28/bluesky-social-twitter-dril-aoc/ (paywall) IMO, Twitter is a big part of the problem with journalism. It's turned national media into lazy click junkies and narcissists.
  9. I'm amazed to see people talking about going to Bluesky. People are acting like Twitter was perfect before Musk bought it. It wasn't. It was still a haven for bigots, bots, and trolls. I mean for goodness sake, Jack Dorsey is backing RFK. Why would anyone give that man access to their data a second time? It's like watching people get back together with a bad boyfriend.
  10. Good news! Of course, the far left and far right are going to lean into their antisemitism but that's to be expected. "Alex said he was broadening his father’s “liberal aims” and embracing different causes including voting and abortion rights, as well as gender equity. He said he aims to keep using the family’s wealth to back left-leaning U.S. politicians."
  11. The voters decided back in 2020. That's why Republicans tried to overthrow the government.
  12. Not gonna lie, one of the things I am most looking forward to, is the utter meltdown Lindsey will have once the Georgia indictments drop.
  13. This will drag into the primaries. His NY trial isn't until March of next year. I suspect the same will be true for his federal indictments and whatever Georgia hits him with.
  14. Nothing in our elections will ever be a breeze. The truth is they never have been. It's just that too many people took progress for granted and threw it away because Bernie told them that their student loans were more important than our civil rights and bodily autonomy. This was a damn fine week. Chris Licht fired, Trump indicted, Pat Robertson and James Watt both dead. (I don't know how many people here remember James Watt but he was a monster.) and SCOTUS actually protected voting rights for once. The election is 18 months away. It's counterproductive to worry about it now. People love to point out Biden's age but then turn around and act like Hamhock is some kind of supervillain. Trump is dying right in front of us but Joe Biden tripped on a sandbag. This is a marathon not a sprint. Let people celebrate the good.
  15. I'm going to break a personal rule about how much I share online. I work for a law firm, a large one with offices around the world and one that has does a lot of work with white collar criminals. I cannot express how quickly this investigation has gone. I know it feels slow but the truth is that this thing has run at record speed.
  16. I've read the Sleepy Hollow chapter and I just want to punch everyone and everything. I just keep thinking about when I used to attend New York Comicon every year. I really wanted to attend the SH panel but it sold out in record time and the line for autograph signings for Mison and Beharie went on forever. But it became obvious watching the show that TPTB didn't want to be a show beloved by Black women. They didn't want us as an audience. It reminds me of OLTL and REG/Evangeline. (Yes, I'm going there.) And don't get me started on [!@#$%^&*] they pulled with Orlando Jones. I'm enormously grateful that he went on record.
  17. I skipped right to the SH chapter and had to put it down because it just broke my heart to remember how much I loved that show. When she refers to the fans as Sleepyheads I got all in my feelings.
  18. My copy just showed up in my Kindle. I'll be honest, I haven't looked forward to a book this much since Prince Harry's Spare.
  19. I can't even with this mess.
  20. Chuck Todd is out. Thank goodness.
  21. I'm not sure I can handle reading about Sleepy Hollow. The BTS bigotry was very apparent onscreen. I've never seen a show work so hard to destroy its own popularity. It still enrages me. As for Lost, like so many others, I was really into it for the first two seasons but there was never any real payoff. I will say that part of what turned me off of Lost was the absolutely toxic shipper wars. When they talked about the Jack/Kate/Sawyer triangle I got PTSD and once they added Juliet, it became a quad that ate the show alive. Many you know I'm a vet of some of the worst of the soap couple wars and even I couldn't stand it. You couldn't discuss anything about the show without people hijacking the conversation to fight over who Kate should be with. It left me with bad feeling towards all the actors involved. I really feel for Perrineau. His character became kind of a punch line. He was the guy running all over the island screaming "WALT!!!" That said, I completely understand how Malcolm David Kelly's growth spurt screwed everything up. He shot up like a weed. The takeaway there should be don't cast children in time-jumping sci-fi shows.
  22. I think we've seen enough over the last few years to know that nothing the NY Times reports about Democrats should be trusted. Meanwhile... I loathe this lazy entitled trash more every day and I still don't believe he'll serve a full term.
  23. So much political news dropping and this thread is crickets. This stuff is exhausting, isn't it? I've been politically active my entire life and these last few years have been tough but this thread has been such a blessing through it all. Anyway...congrats to E. Jean Carroll.
  24. Yellowjackets is the TV show I was talking about. I just started watching it this past weekend and like you said, those notes and that voice gave me some weird flashbacks.
