Watching people discover that John Fetterman is a clown with no principles is kind of enjoyable. https://x.com/TommyInPA/status/1866912041950384631

You can tell the press is really trying to turn this into a riveting reality show but I think most people are just tired of the whole thing. They aren't going to get the ratings that people think.

Same. I just don't care. It doesn't matter who he names to what position because they're all criminals, idiots, and perverts. I read that the ratings for both MSNBC and CNN have plummeted since the election so I think the media will discover they miscalculated when they re-elected Trump. At least as far as ratings are concerned.

I'll tell you when I stopped using LatinX. I heard an interview with a Latina activist who said she hated the term because, "When I hear someone talk about a "Latinx female" I want to tell them that there's already a term for that. It's "Latina." I decided to listen to her and I've never used the term since.

People don't vote based on the economy. That's a lie they tell to pretend they didn't vote their ideology. People are out here complaining about the price of gas while travel numbers hit record highs. There's literally nothing the Democratic Party can do when half the population literally wants an authoritarian government. It's not on the Democrats anymore. America made its choice. I can already tell people think this is going to be like the last time where Republicans run roughshod while everyone yells at Dems to "DO SOMETHING!" I think Dems are going to focus on trying to mitigate damage but certain issues will simply be deprioritized. Starting with immigration. There's simply no electoral benefit for Dems to continue prioritizing immigration reform Folks are going to need to move away from every analysis starting with what Dems need to do. There's a realignment going on and the big tent is going to be made smaller.

In an authoritarian regime elections don't matter.

You're assuming we ever have another free and fair election. Don't. We're looking at Russia/Hungary style show elections. Democrats can't save this country from fascism. Biden tried and was crucified. Folks need to stop fantasizing about who the next nominee will be. Especially now that Black women have given our notice.

People are giving their election downloads so here's mine. First, people need to accept that this is who and what a lot of the country is. It's time to put away questions like "I don't know what people see in him!" "What will it take for people to stop supporting him?" They won't. It's time to realize that half the country wants an authoritarian strongman. The reasons why will need some study but they do. We really are in the middle of a civil war and our side needs to adjust accordingly. Next: I already see the "Dems are bad at messaging" talking point. I want someone to tell me the message Dems need to communicate to people who think Dems control the weather, women are getting post-birth abortions and Haitians are eating pets.Tell us how we're supposed to win votes of people in the throes of mass psychosis. That said: here's where Dems really fucked up: Pushing out Joe Biden was a fatal mistake pushing Biden out. Biden had one bad night and white Dems panicked and when people panic they make dangerous decisions. Think how a drowning person will drag down and kill the lifeguard trying to save them. Clooney opened the door and white Dems spent three weeks attacking a lifelong public servant who saved this country and rebuilt NATO. With that betrayal Dems lost every argument they could run on. At a time they needed to convey sanity and strength, white Dems went all-in on cowardice and hysteria. Democrats can't run on preserving democracy when they threw out the ballots of 15 million primary voters (including me) and they can't run on policy when they cruelly forced out the most effective policymaker we've seen in generations in a disgusting public pile on. Another miscalculation white Dems made was thinking that the 15 million primary votes for Biden would immediately transfer to Harris. That wasn't going to happen. There were millions of people who were only voting for Democrats because Biden was our nominee. (For the record, as I mention miscalculations I need to confess to my own. I thought white women would show up to save their own lives. I was wrong.Terribly horribly wrong.)

I feel the same way. I've still never watched Hillary's concession. After Biden was pushed out I tuned out on everything as best I could. I absolutely could not watch this. I knew that's what you meant.

I just want to make sure if I'm reading this correctly. Are you blaming Joe Biden for not dropping out sooner?

No amount of time would've made a difference. This election wasn't about time or policy. It was about hate and fear.

That was me after Biden was forced out so I guess I was ahead of the curve.

No. The people who voted for this deserve to suffer for it, the rest of us do not. I feel like it's time to accept that when these people talked about civil war they meant it. They've been at war with us for years. Republicans aren't our opponents, they are our enemy.

I think people will start to abandon Twitter after the election. I also think Musk will sell but he'll probably sell to someone equally as psychotic. I really feel like there's a whole lot of triggers that will get pulled when Trump loses. DOJ, state courts, divorce court, probate courts, etc...books full of [!@#$%^&*] we should've learned about in real time, what deals people made to sell him out, etc.... It's going to be ugly but not as bad as I think some folks are predicting.

Wow. Lordy. I stopped watching clips of him a while back. The only reason I watched at all was to check out his decline but now he's so far gone there's no point but I gotta say I love this. He's so desperate and all he craves is narcissistic supply. This is a cult in it's last stages. It's Jonestown just as Leo Ryan shows up. It's Waco right before the FBI launches the tear gas.

This is why I didn't stress about "garbagegate." I knew Trump or Vance would do or say something insane that would hijack the news cycle. They can't help themselves.

I stopped trying to figure out the Latino electorate. There's so many different nationalities within that group and they all have different histories. Puerto Ricans lean liberal while Cubans like the GOP. Conversely I've started paying more attention to the Indigenous vote. I remember the articles of Native voters riding horses to the polls in the middle of the pandemic and thinking that I really wanted to support that community. For my own sanity, I need to take the time, energy, and money I gave the Dems and transfer that to other causes and I plan to start by figuring out the best way to support the Native/Indigenous community.

A lot of people have convinced themselves that being constantly panicked is a form of political savviness. Personally I've just tuned out. This was my last election as a member of the Democratic Party because I'm done being at the mercy of constantly terrified Dems who refuse to stop watching CNN and MSNBC.

Here's my take on "garbagegate." It doesn't hurt Harris or Biden at all. We've spent nearly a decade with MAGA cultists harassing the rest of us. How many ruined Thanksgivings, middle school track meets, high school graduations, etc... are people supposed to accept? Normal people are tired of these sick freaks and might actually like hearing the truth spoken for once.

Those appearances are completely stage managed. Every "customer" Trump served was a supporter cleared by Secret Service. Same for the barbershop. At this point these appearances are the equivalent to taking grandpa to the senior center so he can play with friends.
