  1. Kat/Eva/Tomas is the sisters fighting over a guy story that's so gonna happen. I pointed out before that the prized virgin heroine is not a new thing.
  2. JFP had the block voting game on lock. Supporting is basically a holding tank for those who aged out of the younger category but are not at superstar/long-tenured veteran level.
  3. Vincent Irizarry was on Santa Barbara when JFP was there and his return to GL was the same week JFP took over as EP.
  4. Derek and Ashley are the weak links of the main cast so I'm fine with their absence. I know I shouldn't think this, but I'm missing Andre and his fine self.
  5. I wonder if JFP had a friend in mind for 1993 Mindy recast but the friend was either not available or not interested. I suspected a similar situation a year later for Alan recast, Friend of Jill either not available or not interested. We know of four Friends of Jill incidents (Vincent Irizarry, Justin Deas, Marcy Walker, Marj Dusay) and two new Friends of Jill (Mark Derwin, Sonia Satra).
  6. Leslie and her wigs are characters unto themselves.
  7. I didn't like Blade/Rick and I'm not liking Alan/Martin 30 years later.
  8. I have yet to think of any of the males in the 30-55 range as fake ass Shemars.
  9. In 1997 Kim Zimmer was 42 and Cynthia Watros was 29 so an aging veteran being out-performed by a rookie more than a decade younger, yeah no surprise there was alleged beef there.
  10. The pattern across all three CBS primetime soaps in the off the rails plus budget mode era was to salary dump the long-time female cast members and bring on sweet young things hired on the cheap. The long-time male cast members were for the most part spared. Knots Landing final season the longest-tenured main cast members were Michele Lee, Ted Shackelford, Kevin Dobson, William Devane. Michele took a pay cut to appear in all episodes of the final season and Ted, Kevin, William had their episodes cut during the final season. So two "it was all a dream" resolutions.
  11. If there was any character that defined the final 25 years of GL, it was Reva. With the 1990-1991 departures of Kim Zimmer, Robert Newman, Michael O'Leary, Grant Aleksander from the cast and Pamela Long from the writing team, many thought GL was going to be in for a rough stretch but I thought the show got better. Sadly it didn't last though.
  12. So thirsty in this thread 🤣 Perhaps there should be a Beyond the Gates hotness thread.
  13. It's not like the prized virgin heroine is a new thing. BITD there was Y&R Cricket, B&B Caroline, As the World Turns Lily.
  14. Laura was the heart and candor of the group. She kept everyone in check and would not hesitate to call anyone out on their nonsense and put them on blast.
  15. Knots Landing went off the rails in the aftermath of Laura's departure and was effectively over when Abby left. I love that Constance McCashin has always kept it real by saying she was salary dumped. Constance was also smart enough to realize that good roles for females were few and far between after a certain age and that's probably why she changed her career into one outside of the entertainment business where there was no pressure on her to maintain a certain look. As for Donna Mills, she was smart to walk away when she did.
  16. Yeah, she dodged a bullet. It bears repeating, Marcus Jordan is a waste of space of an NBA nepo baby.
  17. They missed each other by a year. Terry Lester departure November 1990 and Eileen Davidson arrival November 1991.
  18. @Khan How can anyone not love a trashy miniseries based on a best-selling novel? Sadly those are all relegated to Lifetime now, and it's just not the same as the ones on the broadcast networks in the 1980s.
  19. Alan-Michael was born onscreen in 1981 and was SORASed in 1987 to I think 17 or 18, so he would be 25 or 26 in 1995. Going by the ages of the Alan-Michael actors in the years they were cast, Carl Tye Evans was 19 in 1987 and Rick Hearst was 25 in 1990.
  20. Maureen/Fletcher was probably fueled by Maureen being jealous and insecure about Holly's return into Ed's life, but I could be wrong about that.
  21. Keith D. Robinson born January 17, 1976. Maurice Johnson born February 10, 1979. Only three years difference.
  22. This jumped out at me in that article: From the 1980s Ratings thread, One Life to Live rebounded in 1985 with Andrea Evans return, so that impacted Capitol. Remember Capitol was head-to-head with the second half of One Life to Live. It's new to me that CBS used Claire Labine proposed soap as leverage for Bill Bell to create a second show. I still believe that CBS wanted a second Bill Bell show to replace Search for Tomorrow in 1982 but with Y&R being in its post-expansion slump during the first half of 1982, Bill Bell had to fix Y&R first before he could even think about a second show. Capitol purpose was to be a placeholder/time filler until Bill Bell was ready for a second show.
  23. B&B is stuck with Bradley until the show ends. As we all know, Bradley did not inherit his father's talent.
  24. So do I. Andre the hotness of the show (I know, he's too young for me to check for like that). Andre/Dani off the charts heat generating romantic chemistry. The love scenes set to R&B slow jams. They are the soap couple I didn't know I needed.
