  1. Barry Goldwater is probably spinning in his grave over what's occurred in Arizona politics in the past few years now.
  2. I watched the Gingrich ad which declared Romney is more liberal than Obama. Seems like a nasty catfight to me.
  3. Newt Gingrich seems like such a step backward...
  4. Those scenes with Adele were great and brilliantly done. Its funny I still watch the show but don't really care for it too much anymore. Surprisingly to myself I actually do enjoy the whole story about Teddy's husband dying even though their story has been pretty unoriginal(fraudulent marriage for medical insurance convenience, then falling in love with each other). Bailey on the other hand remains utterly the pointless. Christina is annoying as hell, and Derek and Meredith are really the only vets who get any screen time anymore.
  5. Laura Moss was so underrated in the role of Amanda. Ferguson had just finished a pointless role on Beach where her character wound up dead during the Terror Island story so I was happy to see her come back but sad to see Moss go whom I had liked. Of course, Brian Krause and Jeff Phillips both were royally bad as Matt. I'm surprised Krause has even had a successful career or that even he lasted on Charmed like he did when that show had hotter, more talented leading men over the seasons.
  6. Would it be fair to say that Reva became the curse and cure for GL?
  7. I don't think so. Dr. Sedwick was involved with Jeffries when he first came to town before getting involved with Mindy and going evil in the whole Sonni/Solita story.
  8. I had actually remember kind of hoping that GL would actually like to see its 75th back in 2007/2008 just for the fact of making three quarters of a century on the air after the nice little 70th anniversary even though the show was horrific. Alas here's a toast to GL on what would have been its 75th anniversary. I was never quite sure how to categorize the late Margaret Gwenver on the show as a cast-member. I don't think she ever was on contract was she? I think she was last on in 2003/2004 or so but first appeared in 1979. Aside from getting caught up in the Rita/Roger mess, getting caught up delivering babies and stuck in paternity scandals I don't think she ever had storyline of her own except maybe for her affair with Mindy's evil ex Will Jeffries.
  9. As for the 2004 episodes I think we're about to see Randolph Mantooth take over as Hal again. He had temped the year before but this time the casting was a little more permanent with it lasting a year. My biggest complaint I think was the change of physique. They could have gone with James Kiberd again but didn't. Not to mention Mantooth looked like a lot like Michael Zaslow . When in 1998 did Region stop announcing? I've always thought it was a mistake to get of him.
  10. Some recurring questions I have: --Why did the show end up blowing Jacqueline Courtney's return so badly in 1984 even after gaining a good amount of viewers back? --Why did so many pivotal characters end up dead(Julia, Sally, Frankie etc.) --What was the Alice and Rachel interaction like during the Harney years? I remember reading Rachel played a small role in the Beatrice Gordon story trying to tarnish Alice as a person while Rachel was off with that art sculptor teacher who was supposedly a very boring character.
  11. Marland and at least some of his successors in the 90s knew how to keep true to ATWT's history and how to keep it vibrant. Characters past connections were not forgotten. Unfortunately that all got tossed out and burned under Sheffer with stuff like Molly getting pushed into the Snyder pond by Dusty(Eh, I could buy the stretch of her being all pre-Lily and forgotten but really!!) or the great moment Dani had sex with Craig and called him Daddy. I suppose if Duke came back under Sheffer he'd be some serial rapist anti-hero in love with Katie.
  12. They should keep Revenge where it is at. Grey's use to be on Sunday nights back in the day but did fine on its own when they moved it Thursdays. I don't see why ABC's Wednesday night line-up wouldn't work, I mean for a good twenty years(1984-2004) NBC's Thursday night line-up of comedies and then a heavy drama worked quite well. I absolutely love the high stakes drama of the show. I've gone back and re-watched every episode now as the plot reaches its mid-season climax(going back to the shooting in the pilot). I loved how the divorce lawyer Victoria hired was also in Emily/Amanda's plot.
  13. The second half of 1997 was pretty good with Grant's theft and jumping ship to Spectra, the Lake Como fashion showdown, Taylor baby drama, and of course Sheila's meltdown. It wasn't til 1999 I first could tell the show was really wearing thin especially trying to make Amber and Kimberly into the new Taylor and Brooke. That and the character of Pierce Peterson
  14. It's actually the Canadian version of TV Guide, from July 20 1991 to July 26th 1991.
  15. Sadly I do agree. I enjoyed Harley there 1991-1993 and then again 1997-2003 but Ehlers lost it along the way, not to mention under both Weston and then Kriezman Harley became an increasing intolerable shrew until her character was totally ruined there in 2007. Pitiful really to go from fav favorite to one of the most loathed characters on the show as well as tarnishing and throwing away her entire career.
  16. Wow. I knew Ehlers seemed to have a lived a strange life the last few years including turning into a nutjob by 2008/2009 but I'd forgotten that Ehlers fling with Derwin lead to some pretty serious consequences there. No wonder Derwin never came back as Mallet in 2005 or period. I guess all those years of troubles finally lead to her to those meltdowns she had that lead to her exit for GL. Though I never watched AMC, I did read about how she completely trashed JR Martinez who is now probably more famous in the mainstream than Ehlers ever was and how her final airdate on AMC was ironically 9//18/09. Even though I became completely sick of Harley there 2006-2008 and my love for her turned into hatred, I kinda wish Ehlers had held out to the bitter end to resolve Harley as a character.
  17. Duke looks weird with that mustache. I remember liking John's mustache I thought it looked pretty good on Bryggman. Ah yes, the infamous meeting when Molly insults Rosanna! I'm happy this is finally up as well:
  18. Perhaps, perhaps not. Groom's presence on the show even predated Wyndham's and his Russ was married to Strasser's Rachel. Then again if GL brought back Robert Gentry(although his soap career was bigger than Groom's ever was) I suppose it would have been a nice touch. My guess is they didn't think fast enough and it ended up being a nice gesture to Groom or something. I was happy that Keating and Carl did come back alive.
  19. I thought Kathleen/Cass/Frankie was fascinating but I was disappointed by the end of it with Kathleen leaving like that. The whole Frankie miscarriage thing was obviously for Kathleen to look very bad. It never made much sense that Jake and Paulina just drifted apart like that. They brought back Jake from his presumed death to have him do nothing for the longest time. Was Anne going to turn out to be Frankie in the long run? I thought it was going to happen that last week but then was sorely disappointed by Anne's "big" secret(She was Fax Newman's lawyer before killing Frankie.) Felicia/John/Sharlene/Michael might possibly be one of the worst quads in daytime history.
  20. I enjoyed the fall of 2005 for the most part. The baby switch umbrella story was indeed pretty intriguing as well as Gwen/Carly drama. Still as much as I liked Dusty and Jennifer together, I thought the whole Jen is a crystal meth addict to cope was a bit of a stretch. The whole BJ Green caper was fun but ridiculously unnecessary. Still it beat anything we saw 2006-2010, aside from some moments there in 2009. Passanate screwed up everything she had going good for her, namely the total destruction of Maddie and Gwen. Anyone else remember those Tyson Chicken commercials there in 2004 with Barbara? They were hilarious although I can't believe Tyson used a fictional psycho at the time to sell their products.
  21. Thanks for clearing that up for me PJ! I was in college at the time and whole show was unraveling pretty fast. Craig sleeping with Jennifer was probably the worst but Block as Craig was already out the door by that point. I hated that Ben's pill addiction went nowhere and I also later hated James terrorizing Rosanna and taking the fall for Emily being gaslight-ed. The whole thing was a mess.
  22. They did, it was in the spring of '04 before Lucy's kidnapping. Lucy got a job working for Carly at BRO and fell head over heels for Paul who was grieving the losses of Rose and Rosanna(who had vanished at that moment thanks to Paul instigating Cabot being taken away). Anyways they got trapped in a cabin during some snowstorm and well it was disgusting enough to get a backlash. Still intent of pairing her with an older they gave her Dusty, which worked for better or for worse. That actress playing Nikki should have really been cast as Molly. Christina Chambers was a horrible miscast who tortured for months. It was speculated that Sarah Brown was going to play Molly but she of course ended up as the dreadful Julia 2.0. It didn't help Brown was bad in the role. I had forgotten that Sierra had remarried that summer. The guy ended up dead and well Craig conveniently framed him for Lucy's kidnapping. Does anyone remember if Craig had anything to do with his death? I liked Jessica Dunphy back then, she reminded me more of Alison Sweeney than anything else.
