  1. It did with me as well, especially with the particular person being Frank Runyeon.
  2. This is an article from the 2/27/98 issue of Soap News, which is pretty damning towards both the character of Molly and Leslie Kay. Molly was certainly a character I grew to love but I found her annoying her first year but it got better over time, but I don't remember it being this bad:
  3. This is from the 8/31/99 issue of Soap News which mentioned in passing about the 1999 whereabouts of some former ATWT stars:
  4. Thanks saynotoursoap. If I recall right Parnell said he didn't share the story until decades later after it happened. Quite unfortunate that it had happened but I don't if anyone else on the show knew or could know.
  5. Question for anyone who remembers this: on the old defunct WOST website Brian did an interview with, I think Dennis Parnell who was the child actor playing Ben in the 50s. Parnell talked about how he had been molested on the set by an individual he didn't refer to by name except that it was an announcer who pryed on Parnell's developing sexuality. Does anyone remember if we confirmed the identity of that announcer? I seem to recall Ken Roberts was ruled out.
  6. True not to mention Brown went on B&B as Taylor's dead husband right? I guess it was a quickie role and I wonder how many by 1990 had forgotten Brown's previous role back in 1982 since the Laurences didn't have much of an impact and Bell wrote them off. For Days its strangely commonplace but for Y&R it is a little odd. I guess last year's temp casting of Jeffery with Kin Shriner is the only other example I can think of.
  7. I've seen somewhere a credit listing for Brown in the role of Robert in 1990, but I thought it was highly unlikely much like the debatable credit for Kerry Leigh Michaels as Faren in 1991. Otherwise generally no with the prominent exceptions of Quinn Redeker and Veleka Gray(a story by itself of course)
  8. Thanks Carl, I knew the pics looked very familiar to me but figured why not lol. I remember checking that book out in my college library. I loved it back in the day in college with all the soap opera books my library had. Bob really had nothing to do afterwards did he? I know there was the Valerie stuff and course the later Miranda story but between that is a mystery to me until that 1979 episode on the DVD set.
  9. Not sure if these have been posted, but I found them earlier tonight going through some old soap stuff I had on a disk:
  10. What do you guys think about the relationship between Jill and David at least 1986-1989?
  11. Brilliant episode last night with that twisted ending between Ashley revealing her true villainous self, the Japanese sensei turning out to be the real killer on the beach, and Emily's breakdown. Too bad there no new eps til April, what screwy scheduling on ABC's part!
  12. Word on the street is that some GOP legislators in the SC state gov would actually support impeachment of Governor Nikki Haley as she digs herself deeper and her numbers sink lower. The newest fiasco occurred a couple of days when she vetoed a bill that would support SC economy; now its going to support the economy of the state of Georgia instead. I doubt Haley will ever get re-elected to a second term--her latest approval ratings have sunk below 30% and she's caused so much damage within a period of a single year. Doors are beginning to close on her and the party is about to abandon this once Tea Part favorite.
  13. Alas a promo featuring that strange purse swinging lady from the '88 opening! Never knew there was a possible attraction with her for Paul I wonder if more was planned for her. It seemed interesting she was quickly put in place as not only Jack's new love interest but also as George Rawlins' niece.
  14. I seem to find myself in both camps--I'm a little disappointed it wasn't Daniel who died but at the same time I think its nice little twist that Tyler is the one who died on the beach. I guess I knew Daniel probably wouldn't have died, but if this means what I've heard then bring it on.
  15. She was fun, especially with her fantasies of killing the Bug, attempts to make Danny jealous with Peter, her friendship with Dr. Tim and of course going on honeymoon to some extent with Paul and Christine. Somewhere, around 2005 they stopped writing for Phyllis correctly and Stafford got lazy. And arrogant.
  16. Fair point but I think I had figured something like that would be coming after all the material problems Olivia and Nathan were having beforehand ie Nathan moving out because of Lillie Belle living with them. I think the biggest mistake during this time period was Y&R doing absolutely nothing with Vivica Fox's character.
  17. Some people over the years have said the whole HIV part of the story was subtly racist but I don't know if I can fully agree with that as I saw it more of a cautionary tale, one rarely told on soaps. I don't know for sure. What I do know is that in my opinion it was one of the best stories Y&R did tell with its AA cast as the whole story was entirely front-burner with its high-stakes drama and edge of the seat twists. Stuff like Dina's WTF return, Nick&Sharon Paul/Christine/Danny were afterthoughts to myself at the time. Both Rowell and Williams were nominated for Emmys for material stemming from this whole storyline and in retrospect either should have won instead of a certain other Y&R actress who won that year in the supporting actress category. Even though Neil/Dru/Malcolm/Olivia was insultingly lazy, I wonder if it could have been made better if there was better chemistry, if Neil and Malcolm were more worthy of the Barber sisters and if the Winters Bros had a veiled-faced mother who didn't like Dru too much.
  18. Thanks for finding! I'm happy the full ep is online as I've seen those "JUST PITIFUL!" clips before on YT but sadly were taken down long ago. Dru was right, Nathan was truly pitiful indeed for endangering Olivia and Nate. I can't remember if Nathan actually contacted HIV from Keesha or not, I think it was just the fact he could have from his affair.
  19. I'm don't remember when Rick/Blade exactly (by time of year) but the snarky remark would suggest Rick.
  20. Thanks for sharing Carl! I loved seeing Gina in this ep. Danny was certainly an ass wasn't he? Thus began four years of Paul/Christine/Danny with Phyllis as the interloper. How long was this after Nina's miscarriage? I always had hated that story--it was too sad. I thought Bergman really hammed it up there when Jack told Jill "I have an Amerasian son!!". The end scene with the Abbots was over the top corny.
  21. What did you guys think of the whole Maggie/Dylan affair?
  22. Pardon me for saying this, but Neil was so clearly a brown-nosing oreo. I was kind of happy when Dru finally left Neil after belittling her so much through the years. Too bad she didn't have some hot hunky man to run off to who wasn't Malcolm. Oh did I just type that?
  23. The story back in Genoa City about Victor's absence with Jack and Brad instigating the takeover was brilliant must see TV; the story with Victor and Ramona in the desert was good wasn't as interesting. It certainly didn't seem to be the main draw of the whole thing, and I think that's why Ramona didn't work out in the long run. To me at the time it was like they were trying to revisit the summer of '93 in a way but the Victor part failed. I remember in some online communities they felt Victor sleeping with a younger woman was trying to show that Victor still had his mojo. Was Brett going to be the molester? I certainly do recall that story but they dropped it I believe. I think the Scott/Alden feud got started there in '99 and ran all the way til it climaxed with Scott's departure in 2001(and almost MTS).
  24. Did anyone else think Susan Keith was better as Cecile than Frangiore?
  25. I really liked last night's ep as everything just fell in to place even though all parties involved decided for it not to happen.
