  1. Gotta love the Dynasty-style photo on TV Guide as well as Diamont on the cover of Playgirl
  2. I don't know if these NBC era ads had been posted yet but the first one is from November 1985, the other four are from June 1986:
  3. Thanks guys, my dream CBS schedule would have to be: 12:30-Y&R(Bell was able to keep his show at 30 min quite successfully) 1:00 SFT 2:00 ATWT 3:00 GL Of course the 1981-82 schedule works as well for me, why the heck the idiots at both CBS(who wanted something more "glamorous") and P&G(who wanted to keep SFT at 12:30) didn't stick with it is beyond me.
  4. When it is a choice between coffee with Nancy or Bert I would prefer to coffee with Bert mainly due to it probably being extra extra strong with Bill and Ed around
  5. This bio for Charita Bauer appeared in Soap News 11/17/99:
  6. If SFT had stayed on the air and on CBS and had lasted into the 90s what do you guys think the show would have been like?
  7. Does anyone remember how Seth and Angel were written out?
  8. What did everyone think of Rose D'Angelo? How did you like Byrne as Rose? The silly notion of forgetting you gave birth to a child aside, I did like her at least until she became too grating/annoying there in '03. I was really satisfied with the murder mystery surrounding her death. I'm sorry McCouch's Dusty and Lily never actually went all the way because I thought the two shared great chemistry. More interesting than what Holden and Lily had become by the early 2000s. I was for sure after Rose's death a hook-up was inevitable.
  9. I don't think I didn't paid attention enough to the Holden/Iva custody stuff to care LOL although I thought it was odd Aaron bounced to everyone. I've always been a Lily fan and didn't find her dull until the late '90s or so with her umpteenth kidnapping. Looking back they really needed to give her more of an edge I've always been fascinated by Connor chastising Lily so much it always put her on the defensive. Mike and Rosanna were indeed boring and it was a cliched story with Alexander's interference. Not to mention all those cheesy names they gave to cars made by Cabot Motors in an attempt to make them sound like real car brands ie Cabot Mountaineer.
  10. Thanks for sharing/finding those clips from the 1992-1995 period. Even though Marland had passed away in the middle of all this, I enjoyed 1993-1995 so much. I loved the Damien/Lily/Holden triangle, Janice's descent and her relationship to Andy, Julie's wicked children coming to town even though I hated Pete, Hans the terrorist and Lily's kidnapping, Barbara faking her stalking then being stalked for real, Evan and Barbara, Cal and Connor, Linc's murder mystery, Royce's descent etc. Not to mention I believe ratings were still quite good throughout 1994 unlike GL which took quite a tumble that year mainly due it becoming progressively worse.
  11. Thank you so much Carl for finding/sharing that link to Reva being mowed down, I had always understood it to be a second suicide attempt but clearly it is not, more of Reva wandering around disoriented with Josh in the area(for the wedding perhaps?) with that chance of fate meeting. That is a gorgeous setting, made even better by yes the music and Reva's gorgeous over the top dress. Regarding Kyle I understand he didn't die but was shown to be in a coma, one from which I don't believe he ever woke up from. It would have been very interesting if someone in the 90s had written Kyle back into town, seeing he was Ben's bio father as well. Actually 1995 would have been perfect, imagine an amnesiac Reva living happily by a recovered Kyle who was keeping her a secret. I'm confused over a storyline involving Alex's knowledge of Marah's true paternity. Apparently Alex told H.B. the truth about Marah's paternity and he stood by her but broke off their engagement due to being appalled at her power plays at Spaulding. This happened in the spring of '88, a year before Reva learned the truth in the spring of '89. Why didn't H.B. tell anyone else about Marah being Josh's daughter, and thus his granddaughter? Or did she even tell him? Apparently after he broke things off he immediately left town. Writers strike inconsistency perhaps? Even though it was bad of Alex, if anyone seen the 1989 episode where Alex is on her death's door and is shown whatt life were to be like if she dies Alex is quite visibly upset over Alan's abusing Reva and the fact Josh still doesn't know and is forbidden from even seeing Marah and Reva.
  12. A rather sad and bleak ad for Christmas isn't it? I've heard Reva's rebirth was quite good and compelling to watch but the Cain part of the story was a complete farce. I'm more interested in Reva's 2nd suicide attempt where she runs into traffic from her running from her wedding to Kyle and was saved by Josh but thought it was a dream as Josh was no where to be found afterward.
  13. After the Derek/Suzanne story ended Jill and Katherine did have separate stories for a couple years there that never intersected. Katherine got stuck on the island with Felipe, had Cash Cashman and then her thing I mentioned with Alison's husband while as I mentioned Jill fell head over heels for Andy. Pretty much the same way Jill and Katherine interacted there the mid-90s I would imagine. And of course, DeeeDee is right about vets being sporadic today.
  14. Found them! I find it interesting in the second vid when John goes completely off on Katherine:
  15. Wasn't Evans in the role when Patty shot Jack or am I mistaken? I've never seen any of Evans' OLTL work but I do know of her OTT antics on Passions and B&B. I really enjoyed her but I don't know how dramatic of an actress she can be. Why do you guys think the Williams family didn't make it like the Abbotts did? What was Steve Williams like?
  16. I personally didn't care for it, mainly because it degraded both Margo and Jessica so much. I felt the story inexplicably turned Margo into a sex starved bored housewife and at that point in their marriage I don't think Tom and Margo needed another infidelity story, especially not after the mess that was Tom's mid-life crisis and affair with Emily resulting in Daniel. I didn't like the Jessica stuff either--it was sad because Jessica and Ben were trying to have a child together and Jessica had just been raped and lived through all the Marshall stuff so I would have though Jessica to be a lot stronger and smarter. But this was Sheffer's ATWT, and in hindsight judging from his work at Days and Y&R it was a tame woman hating story for him.
  17. Thanks I've seen a 1982 episode in which Alison walks in Katherine and Earl being somewhat affectionate with each other as they reminisced and Alison being very appalled. It didn't help that Katherine was friendly with Nikki who I believe Alison never cared for. I think I labeled her as much due to the fact she later kidnapped Victoria. That's an interesting thought about Deborah Adair being a bridge between Dickson and Walton. One thing that interests me from the Adair era is Jill falling head over heels for...Andy of all people. I'd have to believe comparing that story to the Jill stories as the decade progressed is like comparing apples and oranges. With Adair's Jill was it believable enough for Jill go for Andy? I've often heard there was a major characterization shift there in '80 and again in '83 when Dickson returned. Are the clips of Adair's Jill chiding Katherine for telling John about their past rivalry still on Youtube? If you guys have seen them, what did you think?
  18. Don't forget about Lisa Mansfield! I didn't know Marc was the father of Julia's daughter I thought the father was Eric Garrison. By the way, what did you guys think of Kevin's parents? I know Alison later went bersek herself, but didn't Earl and Katherine share some secret past?
  19. Someone, maybe even in this thread suggested Peter Reckell for the role of Blade and I think he would have sizzled. I don't know about the dual role part but he'd have been perfect for being rugged and mysterious. Can you imagine Reckell getting it on with either Epperson or Walton? Plus he left Days in early '92 so he would have been available. Anthony Addabbo later played a dual on role to B&B for better or worse too bad they didn't find him earlier. To Michael Tylo's credit he did have an extensive and well known soap background when he was hired while Hunter was still probably recognized as Marina Toscano Jed left town and I believe he was involved with Nikki when he did so. It was quite sudden, and I remember her being upset. As for no one catching some of that sloppiness there 1996/1997 my guess is there was too many cooks in the kitchen at that point. The writing team had gotten bigger by then. Remember by 2001 we had Scott and Alden coming to blows over storytelling and casting decisions.
  20. One more question; how much did Marland write of ATWT there in 1979? I've heard he was responsible for the Hadley Bennett story which when reading about I found it sounded a little too bizarre for ATWT.
  21. What year did Chuckie Shea die? I love Rita Lloyd as well and she is criminally underrated. I had no idea she also played Lucille Wexler on GL from the clips I've seen she's fabulous there as well. Edwina was a good antagonistic character in my book.
  22. Fletcher was like the male Reva in a way as he was with many women over the years with Maureen, Claire, Alex, Maeve, Vanessa, Holly etc. This article below is from February 1996 Soap Opera Update. The answer of course was not very long before Josh Taylor took over the role briefly:
  23. Thanks so much again for that history lesson saynotoursoap! Thanks Max as well for sharing hat clip video link. I remember it on the defunct WOST site. That's interesting that two children of two iconic characters on two P&G soaps named Chuckie both ended up dead. I think Darryl being the killer in the end could have created some powerful drama--imagine if he had framed someone else then get into an accident and make some death bed confession he did it. Mousy Vicki who was Carolyn's best friend being behind it all was kind of sad. Sabrina appeared in '93 alongside Duncan to fight Hans in Montega? I don't remember that but that's pathetic. That sounds way too 1987ish for 1993! What did you guys think of Edwina Walsh?
  24. Apparently this short-lived soap did have enough time to do a special one-hour episode. Maybe a stunt too little to late, but this ad comes from I believe January 1975:
