  1. Psycho Lisa goes to model for Skip but that's not the most unusual part of these scenes:
  2. And even beyond that when Frank attempted to return in 2003 before his untimely demise. The one thing I see from all these late 1995 and 1996 episodes I see that was bound to happen, should have happened, but didn't happen was a Ryan/Jill one night stand. Just imagine the implications and Jill having to go toe to toe with not just Nina but Victoria too. Involving Jill into the Blade/Rick mess allowed Jill to steal the whole storyline, just imagine Jill's impact on the Ryan/Nina/Cole/Victoria quad.
  3. Yep! Not by name but the backstory was entirely laid out see 9:47 here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vec8FO8-e44
  4. Y&R had to be the leading soap in diversity 1990-2006, after that it was all downhill... Not sure if this has been shared yet, but someone from Australia has shared a full week on Y&R eps from December 1995 which include the aftermath of Blade's death, the Nick/Matt ordeal, and the consequences of the Nathan/Keesha affair coming to light. One ep has Sharon confessing her full past to Paul including about Cassie which I don't remember at all. The eps run from Dec 4th to Dec 11th 1995: http://youtu.be/9FyynaTrKNs
  5. Thanks for the continuing uploads for Y&Rfan23!! Y&R was airing at 3PM the CBS station where I lived at the time so a lot of this I remember so well yet somehow in the annals of Y&R history its always been overlooked from Lillie Belle causing chaos to the high level of tension surrounding Cole/Victoria to the insidious Robert making his sadistic threats. Throw in Miles and Margret and the forgotten possibility of Jed Sanders being Nina's long lost father and you know, this is the Y&R I fell in love with. I hope summer 1993 Y&R eventually surfaces honestly not too much comes close to touching Y&R 1992-1994. One question though I have to ask was believable was J. Eddie Peck as Cole at the time? Although I saw his Tommy McKay work later on at the time I did remember from being on Days as one of Jennifer's not Jack boyfriends. Obviously Peck was Y&R's answer to Gabrielle Carteris...
  6. Just out of curiosity but did we ever see the Crimson Lights set before 1994? I still don't remember Sharon, Matt, and Amy coming on screen but I do recall having a major WTF moment with seeing Morrow as the aged Nick as little Nick had appeared not too long before that(B&B later did this with Rick). Y&R had that early Best Show win in 1975 I believe and won again multiple times in the 80s but the acting and writing was overlooked for the most part. Of course competition was stiff at the time--GL, ATWT, AW, and Ryan's Hope were giving their highest output too during those years too. Harding Lemay even gave a famous anecdote that Bell stood up to receive the Outstanding Writing Emmy for either Days and Y&R when in actuality Lemay had won. I believe Tracey Bregman was the first Y&R actor or actress to win an Emmy, while Terry Lester was first to get a nomination.
  7. I think the most fascinating thing about Y&R's early years was when I watched a 1974 episode with the Foster clan living in a dingy apartment, and living off check to check and fearful they can't even survive off that anymore. It was a scene that would never ever happen on modern Y&R but it was so brilliantly done too bad Bell didn't keep the class consciousness stories to the forefront even into the 90(there where bits here and there but nothing as substantial).
  8. Now we know why Lauralee was so hesitant to return to the role for several years. Not to mention her main relationships with Paul and Danny were ruined by 2004/2005. I've heard she wanted something more meatier and bitchier.
  9. Heh, I do remember seeing not too long ago Ashley talking about Sheila and it was pretty was weird considering how isolated the story was. Same goes for when Sheila was calling Christine and Danny over for dinner because of the so little interaction. In a perfect Bell world both Kevin and Adam should have gotten the Michael Baldwin treatment but unfortunately they did not. Even for Michael it took at least seven to eight years before his credibility was finally established, the utterly ridiculous engagement to Christine aside. BTW BoldRestless, you're not the first I've heard about Bell's mysteries being lackluster. I believe we saw that with the George Rawlins murder, the Who Shot Victor mystery(should have been written differently IMO), and Faren's background.
  10. Michael killed but didn't kill Rebecca just like Sheila killed but didn't killed her shrink just like Phyllis killed but didn't kill Sasha. Ambiguous murder became a favorite tactic for the Bells in the 90s. Poor Nikki Heh loved the scenes of Lauren thinking it was Traci sending her the puzzle pieces. Interesting to see the beginning of Paul and Christine and the beginning of the end of Danny and Christine. Late appearance of Carol! Does anyone have episodes of Michael's infamous tunnel and living in the closet?
  11. Shattuck's "woe as me" statement did garner sympathy from some in the soap press and some Brenda Epperson fans online at the time. Once Davidson appeared on screen the questioning of Davidson's rehiring was swiftly put to rest. I forgot Lauren was in a proverbial blackhole there 1999-2001. I remember her 2000 return with that very short hair and wondered why she was wasted by B&B.
  12. I don't believe so. If I recall right the official explanation was a lack of storyline for Phyllis which was pretty believable and the show did Michael Damian the same way the previous year although at least Nelson's Phyllis got an exit. It was Shari Shattuck's firing that happened around the same time of the news of Nelson's exit that got pretty ugly.
  13. Yep Nelson's final story as Phyllis was her working for Victor to spy on Jack and Diane. She was very jealous of Diane and Michael's friendship to the point she kidnapped Michael out of spite! I recall SN's Phyllis even slept with Jack but then it all snowballed once he found she was spying. With that she left town and I believe if I recall right her final ep she made up with Michael before leaving. When Stafford returned the next year, Jack still had a problem that Phyllis had spied on him. For the record, the week that Cole and Victoria found out they were siblings Y&R made a 9.8 in the ratings, and this was in 1994 too.
  14. Ok I looked up my notes lol and Stafford's final airdate was 2/14/97. For the record Heather Tom's final airdate was a week later on 2/21/97 and then Sarah Aldrich debuted on 4/2/97. I have no final airdate for Aldrich(but couldn't have been no later than July) but Tom returned to the role on 10/2/97. The whole Victor in Kanas story remains by far one of my favorite Y&R stories of all time so I do hope it resurfaces someday eventually. Same goes for Victoria's nude centerfold tale, which later came back to haunt her.
  15. The January 1997 episode was more than likely one of Stafford's final episodes before here her '97 exit because Phyllis was gone for a good month before Sandra Nelson's debut as Phyllis on 3/21/97. Glad to see the 1993 episodes coming in, wish there was more of 1992. I'd say that 1992, 1993, and 1994 are arguably Y&R's best three year period in the show's history with superb writing and stellar ratings to match it.
  16. The more I know of Ehlers' personal life and of course her personal attacks on co-stars on other soaps(I didn't watch AMC but I heard the story) the less I have liked her, and the writing for Harley 2006-2008 completely ruined the character for me all time. A bad ending for GL's no. 2 lead actress and heroine. Wheeler apparently had some severe emotional issues judging from her interviews 2007-2009 and really should have not been in any leadership capacity whatsoever. Going back to the Weston/Conboy era I thought before 2008 that was the show's very lowest point. The plethora of new, strange characters, rewriting and warping the entire history of GL, and the dull pointless mysteries was terrible. Kriezman's first two years were watchable until he hit the crackpipe or something (it started with Leah Bauer's SOARSing or Josh/Cassie).
  17. BTW, if anyone cares Jonathan's original last name was Baynes. It was Baynes until Weston screwed up during the Sandy is Jonathan tale in 2003 and changed the last name to Randall.
  18. West lasted a year and a half as Shayne. His predecessor Kay had been in the role for a good four years I believe since Shayne was aged to being a teenager in '99. Shayne and Marina had a cutesy one sided crush relationship until West was in the role and Conboy/Weston decided to sacrifice Ben Reade. I believe in retrospect Matt Bomer has had the final laugh.
  19. Mandy Bruno was okay, acceptable enough to watch but could be severely bland as well. The mediocre writing and Marina's odd relationships (Danny, Alan-Michael etc.) didn't help matters either. Lindsay McKeon was atrocious and was indeed brought in to replace Bundy because she was prettier and thinner. I have bad memories of McKeon's Marah infamously stripping for Tony and making out with Jeffery O'Neill in a cornfield. Brown tortured us in the 90s as the annoying preteen going on 13 Marah but I think her 2006 return was decent although it was offbeat. I remember back in the day people use to call Marty West's Shayne "Gayne". It was pretty obvious. West's acting was lousy and the show wasted so much time writing for him to make him a young lead. At least he was good eye candy on screen. As that reboot, I'm not surprised it was an actual idea of Wheeler's that Zimmer wrote about. I do vaguely recall someone posting details that it sounded like an odd mishmash of GL roots and elements ie Reva intertwined the Bauers, with Bert Bauer still being alive as the matriarch. Almost like Olivia is a lesbian...
  20. Cutter's death was pretty sad and terrible. I remember him writing MAR with his own blood trying to spell out Marion. That's the first time I've heard that about Laibson. I don't know its accuracy, they named Wheeler EP immediately after announcing Conboy's firing. Wheeler had actually been on the short list in 2002 to replace Rauch but was considered too green at the time.
  21. Lizzie had definitely been through a lot before that, shooting Carl, being kidnapped twice, surviving leukemia, blackmailing Alan(that was Hirschlag) so I guess it did make some sense. Personally I think the best Marah, Shayne ,and Marina were Laura Bell Bundy, Jeff Branson, and Aubrey Dollar respectively.
  22. Thanks for sharing those videos! I had forgot everyone got food poisoning at Matt and Vanesssa's wedding. Crystal Hunt eventually became adequate by the time she left but she was overall terrible. I liked Julia Barr's daughter and Rylan a whole lot better. In addition to scheming, they were trying to make Lizzie a sociopath and psychotic with an Electra complex. They had her chopping off baby doll heads and attempting to hurt a pregnant Olivia out of jealousy. It was also painful to watch. Phillip had originally pushed Olivia away after thinking she lied about the paternity of her baby being his. They reconciled but Olivia became threatened by Lizzie to the point Lizzie tried to cause Olivia to have a miscarriage. Olivia left town and as a result, Phillip starting going nuts. By the time Olivia returned she had given birth but lied to Phillip that the baby had actually died as a way to protect it from Lizzie. The lie caused Phillip to have a complete mental breakdown and would eventually lead Phillip to becoming unhinged to his for the rest of the year up through his "untimely demise".
  23. Just of out curiosity what did everyone think of Antonio and Sheridan getting together again for the series finale instead of the signature pairing Luis and Sheridan? During the tortuous time I watched Passions part time (2000-2004ish) I thought Antonio had potential at first but then it went donwhill with that stupid coma and illness he had.
  24. Unearthed a reloading the episode in which Neal is murdered with a plethora of characters in it. I must say though, Glynnis O'Connor is terrible in her scenes as Margo but Linda Cook of Loving fame did fabulous in her scenes as Cynthia! I also didn't remember Ellie coming back and actually being okay with Kirk: Part 1 is here:
  25. Thanks for sharing! Loved that catty jealous exchange between Lauren and Lynne at the beginning of the first episode! Both Scott and Ryan are real jerks. Considering his and Lauren's history Scott's ultimatum was imprudent and absurd. I feel bad that Ryan played off of both Nina and Victoria at the time. If I recall right Victoria had to end up getting therapy as she couldn't have sex with Ryan because she kept having flashbacks of seeing Ryan and Nina having sex. Olivia's 1992 health crisis is something I don't remember too much of so this is nice to see, and its not at excruciating to watch as Olivia's 2000 health crisis was. I believe this story occurred after Neil and Olivia became close and Dru unsuccessfully plotted to get Nathan to see them on a date.
