  1. I read that story this past weekend. My favorite part: when she cries police brutality and the other people in line at the bank are like, "Nope!".
  2. But that dress. I needed an antihistamine after seeing that dress.
  3. Agree, with all of this.
  4. Good, lol. If it isn't working out, then it's only because the public (including yours truly) is *slowly* catching on.
  5. Agree. We (Democrats) should have learned our lesson after what happened to Al Franken.
  6. FFS. At this point, putting on an Indian head test pattern in place of "The Talk" would be an improvement and a blessing. Just CANCEL this !@#$%^&*] already.
  7. It's like the media is saying, "What do you expect us to do? We have to go where there is news, don't we!?". Of course, the problem *there* is that there's a difference between challenging and not challenging the GOP on the bulls**t they keep pumping out. The media constantly resists challenging the GOP on anything in the name of "both sides!" and "many viewpoints!" and "objective observers!" because they know where their bread is buttered (Republicans pay their salaries and give them access, too...all while trashing them to the general public); but of course, that's b.s. as well. Journalists have a responsibility to report the news AND to report the truth where the news lacks for it. That's their function in a democratic society. Point blank, period.
  8. THE DOCTORS is another soap I just couldn't (or can't) get into. The Rita Lakin/Rick Edelstein era seemed pretty good (although, I think I caught only the tail end of it on RetroTV). However, the Pollocks' era in particular grated my nerves. Everyone had to be dumbed down in order for any story to work; and oh my God, those *endless* flashbacks that were obviously used to pad out episodes. Even the Douglas Marland era wound up disappointing me (and as a Marland fan, I hate admitting that, too). Instead of wrapping up the show's interminable plots and starting his own, he spent most of his time there keeping them going to the point of insanity (mine, not theirs). By the time his work had concluded, I was just done.
  9. "Ghetto" is the Very. Last. Thing I would ever say about Holly Robinson Peete.
  10. I think it's pretty clear Republican men hope to kill off the rest of us.
  11. Pardon my ignorance, but who the hell is Jimmy Dore?
  12. I, myself, see how hard the media is trying to scandalize Biden's not holding a solo press conference since taking office. As if such a thing matters to anyone outside of the press.
  13. By now, we know all about how much Congress, at best, tolerates Bernie Sanders. If he'd been president, he wouldn't stand a chance of getting ANY legislation passed, let alone a COVID relief bill. Ramona Quimby vs. Zack Morris: Round 2. Ramona: 2 Zack: 0
  14. Sharon Osbourne: "Don't you cry, Sheryl! If anyone should be crying, it should be me!" Oh, really, white girl?
  15. I must admit that a part of me looks forward to seeing "#WhereIsTheCat" trend on social media.
  16. With all this talk about Johnny, don't be surprised if/when he suddenly pops up in present-day Salem. You know how much Ron Carlivati loves to do that kind of thing.
  17. I can't tell whether this has been posted yet, but... https://www.buzzfeednews.com/article/zoetillman/trump-supreme-court-election-loss?bftwnews&utm_term=4ldqpgc#4ldqpgc
  18. IKR, lol?
  19. IMO, it didn't make sense for Maggie to agree to be a surrogate when she was yearning so much for a baby of her own. It's as if they wanted to replicate the Doug/Rebecca surrogacy storyline from the Pat Falken Smith era without taking Maggie's history into account.
  20. Is it any wonder why women, who were and are supposed to be the soaps' target demographic, continue to abandon these shows (and others) in droves? Women (and women 18-34/49, in particular) continue to be the advertisers' biggest concern with network/cable/streaming series. Yet, the people who produce and air these shows prove at every turn just how much they actually hate women.

Wow, she's even more incoherent with normal hair!
  22. It figures that Piers [!@#$%^&*] Morgan would stomp off the set like an overgrown brat. (That's the trouble with so many racists. They're so thin-skinned.) Speaking of stomping off (LOL!), let me just say this and then I'll bow out as gracefully as I can from this thread. I'm as focused as I am on Meghan and on her allegations of racism, because, IMO, that's where the enmity between Harry/Meghan and the rest of the House of Windsor (and between them and the UK and international media) lies. I don't doubt that there are other, lingering issues between Harry and Charles, and between Harry and William, that began long before the day he first brought Meghan home to meet the family. (I'm sure there are bound to be issues in any family where the father or patriarch spends the majority of his marriage pursuing an extramarital affair.) But I also don't doubt that Harry's decision to build a family and a life with biracial Meghan has amplified and exacerbated said issues. And I don't think anyone in the royal family would be where they are at this moment, either physically or emotionally, if Harry instead had married a pert-nosed blonde with good breeding and exquisite manners. One final point: I know about the allegations of bullying and rudeness that have been lodged against Meghan, but I also know (from my own observations) that many whites still, to this day, take issue with any woman of color who asserts herself rather than submit to anyone's preconceived notions of femininity. To those individuals, women in general aren't supposed to display backbones or express opinions, especially when those opinions run counter to the dominant (read: white male) line of thought. Ergo, whenever a black or brown woman enters the scene with her own way of feeling, thinking or doing things, and who will not "remember her place" simply because a (white) man or woman reminds her to, those same individuals are bound to perceive her as a bully and a threat. That's just something to bear in mind whenever one thinks about all the disparaging things that have been said about Meghan, whether by the press, or in the court of public opinion.
  23. IA. There is a sense that Tomlin and Lisanti were working to wrap up and move on from Laemmle's stories as quickly as possible.
  24. No, I'm referring to the "others" who haven't been defended the way Meghan has. Who should have been defended here that hasn't?
