  1. What IS it with this show and trapping people on islands anyway?
  2. Exactly. How many more times must I say it? The devil's number-one mission is to win souls away from God. Not run business conglomerates or act as spoiler for vapid couples.
  3. Good question. Of course, whoever ended up as a Sami recast would have enormous shoes to fill. (I'm speaking metaphorically, of course; I've no clue about Ali Sweeney's shoe size.) I dunno. Part of me wants to go with a "name," while part of me thinks DAYS should try finding someone who hasn't already done a half-dozen of these shows.
  4. I'd love to see the other women in Salem choosing straws over that [!@#$%^&*], lol.
  5. He was. He was replacing Bruce Boxleitner, who had played the role in the miniseries, but who was unavailable, I think, due to his regular gig on "Scarecrow and Mrs. King." In a way, it made sense to kill off the character right away, as it positioned Genie Francis as the clear lead and gave her character a clear purpose (to finish what he had started at his father's company). As much as I love JW, I feel like Lee Grant was irreplaceable as Ava.
  6. That's how *I* wrote it in my GL fanfic. Years after leaving Springfield, I wrote, Janet married a San Francisco-based FBI agent, who later legally adopted Emily, and who would inspire Emily to work for the agency as well. That way, I figured, you'd have built-in conflict if/when she and Ken were reunited, as Emily would regard her stepfather (still alive, as was Janet) as her "real" father, and Ken would always feel guilty that another man got to fill that role in his daughter's life. Of course, *my* hope would be that Ken and Emily WOULD bond, eventually; and that both he and her stepdad would walk her down the aisle at her wedding (...to Rick Bauer).
  7. Which made EW's Marley sudden obsession with Jake, who had raped her years ago, even more awkward.
  8. Agree. Plus, making Ray a Ewing meant he and Lucy had committed incest, which is just...yecch.
  9. Of course, the question now is, "Okay, but with whom?". Once again, I say Duke the Bear.
  10. Yep. Duke the Bear is wearing a Sarah mask, too.
  11. If Allie AND Sydney were to come out as gay, then they might as well rename this show ALL MY GAY CHILDREN.
  12. No. I'm telling you, Syd is having an inappropriate relationship with the headmaster at her boarding school OR she's involved in a call-girl ring that's being spearheaded by the headmaster and/or the bitchiest girl at school. (Or even both!) So, yeah, she could be, too, lol. But you know it's all anyone can do not to call him "Tripper," or "The Tripster," like the old "Richmeister" character from SNL. And Tripp is a doctor, right? So, "Tripper John(son), M.D.," here we come!
  13. Unfortunately, if you keep Johnny as a villain, even after he has been exorcised, you run the risk of people wondering, "Is the devil still in him?". I know that SOUNDS good, but trust me: the sooner we get away from that story again, the better.
  14. He needs a [!@#$%^&*] better name than "Tripp." (Seriously, "Tripp"? WTH, DAYS?)
  15. If you have issues with how Bill Bell, who created this [!@#$%^&*] show and guided it for over twenty-five years -- many of those years spent either at the top of the ratings or close to it -- wrote Y&R, then maybe Y&R is not the show for you. I'm just saying. Well, to be fair, Bill Bell had a similar tendency. It's just more noticeable (and more annoying) when Josh Griffith does it.
  16. AMC: Greg and Jenny; Jesse and Angie ("the FIRST and still the BEST No. 1 Black supercouple on daytime television!," so sayeth whatsherface); Tad "the Cad" Martin; Opal (as played by Dorothy Lyman); and (duh) Erica (Kane Martin Brent Cudahy etc. etc. etc.). AW: Rachel and Iris (as played by Beverlee McKinsey). ATWT: Lisa. I'd also include Penny; she and Jeff literally invented the supercouple. B&B: Brooke Logan Forrester (x8). CAP: None. (It didn't last long enough to build that kind of character.) DS: Barnabas. DAYS: Tom and Alice; Doug and Julie; Marlena; Bo and Hope; Patch and Kayla. TD: Do people even THINK of THE DOCTORS anymore?? EON: Mike and Nancy Karr. GEN: No iconic characters, but certainly an iconic catfight. GH: Steve Hardy, Jessie Brewer and, of course, Luke & Laura. GL: Bert Bauer, Roger Thorpe, Nola Reardon and (for better or for worse) Reva. LOL: Vanessa. LOV: Maybe Stacey? Maybe Trisha? Maybe Ava? OLTL: Viki, Karen and Tina. RH: Maeve Ryan. (She wasn't just RH's heart and soul; she was also Claire Labine's entire philosophy embodied in one character.) SaBa: Cruz and Eden. SFT: Jo; Stu and Marge Bergman (at least, to the show's earliest fans). SS: Amy Ames. Y&R: Jill and "Miss Chancellor"; Snapper (as played by David Hasselhoff); Malcolm (not the sandwich king, but the original one, played by Shemar Moore); Victor and Nikki. and... PAS: Timmy, Tabitha's doll, who was always so [!@#$%^&*] needy.
  17. That's good to hear. I still remember her fondly from "Duet."
  18. They could easily kill her on her way to the wedding. That way, she and Mariah could exchange vows on her deathbed, moments before she flatlines. (Cue the "Bless the Beasts and Children" montage.)
  19. It helped that Thomas Ian Griffith and Mary Page Keller shared incredible chemistry. Otherwise, Catlin and Sally, IMO, were a pretty generic couple.
  20. Y'know...in retrospect, making Ray the illegitimate son of Jock Ewing was probably not the wisest decision that the show could have made. It seemed like, once Ray was tied biologically to the Ewings, he became less interesting. I realize why they did it -- Larry Hagman didn't want him off the show -- but I feel like there were other, better ways to keep Ray on the show AND keep him the lascivious scoundrel that he was at the start.
  21. I remember some of Travilla's wardrobe choices for the KL ladies. Oof.
  22. I think a big problem with BE is that they had to recast too many roles for the series.
