2025: The Directors and Writers Thread
This has to be Josh Griffith, right? I don't think it's GH, which has been doing extremely well in streaming, hitting the top 5 regularly and #1 on occasion. DAYS has also been streaming well. Brad Bell has SO much power at B&B, so I don't know that weakening ratings would affect him that much. Sally McDonald, Y&R director, was just named co-Executive Producer. Is this a warning shot to Josh Griffith? And if JG is removed as EP, what difference would it make unless he's also removed as writer?

BTG: September 2025 Discussion Thread
-- If Jan knows Joey -- for example, if Joey is Ashley's father -- I can't wait for the explanation as to why Jan has nothing and is busy housekeeping for the town ho. -- Vanessa is so upset she can't go home? 😂 Girl, you were never home anyway. You spent your time in hotels with escorts and in Puerto Rico with your Dollar General Mobster. -- Now Leslie is buying apartments and hotel rooms and handing out huge checks to Peaches? I never knew $1M could go so far. Amazing. -- Hearing Leslie call Kat a brat will never not be hilarious. The woman lives in a world of projection. -- The writing for Andre/Ashley/Dani is weird. Yesterday, Andre married Dani. Today he visits Ashley and essentially lets her know he still wants her. Previews for next week show Andre kissing up to Dani again. What is going on?

From what I can find, GH is pre-empted 3 days next week -- Tues., Wed., and Thurs. That means we get shows on Monday and Friday only.

Very good point. Lisa LoCicero made every one of her lines count this week. She was just great.

I think you heard that because that would have made sense, DRW50.

B&B: September 2025 Discussion Thread
What a ludicrous episode: -- $Bill and Katie tolerating Luna's insanity. They should have thrown her out. Why didn't they? The "Spencer grandchild." As if these people give a damn. -- Taylor tolerating Brooke's insanity. If you're going to have Brooke make a RIDICULOUS visit to Taylor, at least have Taylor fight back with either words or her fists. No sane woman would tolerate that visit, and no sane woman would make that visit. -- Deacon to Taylor about Sheila: "I know I married a woman with a checkered past." 😂🤣😂 -- I thought Taylor was "busy," but Deacon walked right into her office. Adorable. -- Kimberlin Brown again got to show off her acting skills, which consist of squinting her eyes and fluttering her eyelids. -- Brad Bell pushing the idea that Electra can compete with Luna? HILARIOUS!!!

GH: September 2025 Discussion Thread
Just finished today's episode. I'd been thinking we didn't get enough Monica flashbacks, but then I watched Jason bookend some incredible and emotional clips. Well done, GH. Bravo. Jane Elliot was great this week, as always. No praise is ever enough. However, for me, Steve Burton was the heart of this entire week. Jason's sense of loss and love was so palpable that it lifted the rest of the cast. Steve Burton isn't everyone's cup of tea, but I don't know how this could have been played any better. He was magnificent.

GH: September 2025 Discussion Thread
Stupid Line of the Day: Dante and Brook Lynn talked about how wonderful Tracy's eulogy for Monica was. They praised Tracy. Then Dante said, "She reminded me of you." Huh? Talk about a real stretch. It made no sense in or out of context. And if it did make sense, wouldn't Dante say that Brook Lynn reminds him of Tracy? The writers just tried way too hard to give a chem test moment to Dante and Brook Lynn.

I agree. Except on very rare occasions, Chad never exhibited that steely spine that Rory Gibson has in spades. We'd get a really good performance out of him on a Monday, and then on Tuesday we were back to milquetoast Michael. Gibson was accepted so quickly and so dramatically as Michael that it was eye-opening. Yes, he's been terrific, but part of the reason is also that Chad Duell wasn't making an impact.

Not bad at all. I can get on board with that. I also think Katie should remarry $Bill and then have him cheat on her the next week, followed by more of her tears. EMMY FOR HEATHER!!!

BTG: September 2025 Discussion Thread
Exactly. I'm all for having a villain in town, but does he have to twirl his mustache in every scene? And why are so many Fairmont Crest residents playing ball with this Dollar General mobster? "Rough" doesn't describe all the dialogue, but does describe enough to make it valid. I do love the pop culture references, but throwing in "Cardi B would love that song!" does not save bad dialogue. NO QUESTION. -- As others have said, we want (and even expect) BTG to be better than Y&R, B&B, and DAYS. (For me, only GH can be considered good soap). Those shows (especially the Bell shows) would get A LOT more criticism if board members here cared about them at all and hadn't given up on them. They're SO BAD that no one cares. -- Do I criticize BTG a lot? Yes, because I care about the show. I see the potential. I've seen what they can do. I see a very good cast with only a couple duds. -- But I am not going to come here and pretend all is well, because it's not. I'm actually heartened to see posters here who are seeing the same things I'm seeing -- it makes me feel that I am being fair-minded and objective. -- I am not going to post "Vanessa is fire! What a woman!" just because she's on BTG. If she were a character on Y&R, I'd trash her to death. Any soap that skips over this many beats deserves to be called out on it. -- The comments here about Hayley are spot on. All the promise of her initial impact on the story has evaporated. Why? GATES seems to pace things differently so that these "story impacts" come up later and really aren't gone. I don't think this works -- not when it's done over and over for SO many storylines. -- I appreciate the struggle to bring in young, short-attention span viewers while keeping traditional soap watchers. However, when that causes problems we see on the screen, we need to point them out. -- I DO NOT think MVJ should leave as HW or step even one step away from the show. Nope. This is her baby and she gets to ride it. -- Even with all my criticism, I'm hooked on BTG and am going nowhere. -- If you're a total fanboy/fangirl for this show, try to see the positive: that this show is getting SO much more attention than the other soaps.

Agree completely. If the writers think Vanessa is a sympathetic character, they're crazy. Yep. She's been a ho since Week One. At least then she was getting Prime D from Diego.

Y&R: September 2025 Discussion Thread
This ends my one month experiment. Tracking sets for 4 weeks of September. Here's the set usage for this week: Mon., 9/22: Crimson Lights / Society / Train / Abbotts -- 4 sets Tues., 9/23: Crimson Lights / Society / Jazz Lounge -- 3 sets Wed., 9/24: Society / Jazz Lounge / Park -- 3 sets Thurs., 9/25: Society / The Abbotts / Cane's Train / Park -- 4 sets Fri., 9/26: Cane's Train / The Newmans / Jazz Lounge / Abbotts / GCAC Bedroom -- 5 sets For the week: 4 days -- Society 3 days -- The Abbotts / Jazz Lounge / Cane's Train 2 days -- Park / Crimson Lights 1 day -- The Newmans / GCAC Bedroom In FOUR FULL WEEKS, only 12total sets have been used. Only 8 were used this week. Here's the running total for all 4 weeks (20 episodes): 16 days -- Society 14 days -- Crimson Lights 11 days -- Park 10 days -- The Abbotts 8 days -- Cane's Train 7 days -- Billy's Place 3 days -- Victor's office / Adam's office / The Newmans / Jazz Lounge 1 day -- Photo studio / GCAC Bedroom (tight shot of a bed and 2 walls) Left unsaid is that many of these sets featured 2 seated characters having a conversation -- no movement, no energy. Completely static.

Hate to admit it, but I enjoy watching characters like Electra lose. She's that ridiculous.

BTG: September 2025 Discussion Thread
Exactly how I feel. I can't believe how many people here feel sorry for her when she's been nothing but a whore since we met her the first week. Not once did I feel that she ever cared about their marriage. If you love someone, how do you screw all these different guys? How do you get involved in an affair with a monster you run off to Puerto Rico with? It's laughable. And I still do not understand Joey's obsession with taking down Doug. Is there no one else in town to play in the Dollar General casino? The only way to launder money was to take down Doug and go through Vanessa? Makes no sense to me. Vanessa treated Doug like garbage. She cucked him right in front of his face. Now she's crying? Miss me with that.

BTG: September 2025 Discussion Thread
-- I guess all the character deaths on BTG will be off-screen. -- Lauren Buglioli is usually very good, but I thought that was an over-the-top performance today and histrionic to the extreme. This is a woman who has been screwing other guys all over town and is now having an affair, and she collapses like this? Saying how much she loved him? Just no. -- Is Vanessa already done suspecting Joey had Doug killed? -- So Joey and Vanessa are ready for their 4th go-round in bed yet still wearing their underwear. OK then. -- And why would Joey want Doug dead? I guess Dollar General Mobsters operate this way. -- THE DUPREES were nauseating today. -- Commanding Andre to the house instead of Dani shows who they are: people who live to blame others for everything that happens to them. Anita blamed BILL for Dani marrying Andre. WT actual F. These people are so self-righteous and sanctimonious it's nauseating. -- Nicole was even worse. Andre should have told her to back off and worry about her own pitiful life. Clean up your own mess, Nicole. -- Bill is making AGE jokes to Dani? Bro is a laughable hypocrite. -- None of these people care about the impact on their kids. Hayley is right: they're grown-ass women. -- I hope Dani stays married to Andre just to piss everyone off. I also hope Andre stops letting Dani control everything they do.

ANOTHER episode of two character scenes...Billy and Sally, Cane and Victor, Michael and Lauren. At least with Jack and Diane, they threw in Kyle. The Cane/Victor scenes are the worst.. We're supposed to see them as Succession-like power and greatness, but they're just sad. Eric Braeden looks like he's about to expire while he sits on that train chair.

DAYS: September 2025 Discussion Thread
-- Yep. This stuff with Chad and Cat has been numbingly repetitive and even boring. -- This blackout looks like they put no thought into it, and we already know no money went into it. -- I'm sure Holly is drinking heavily because she's depressed that she has to live in that ugly and depressing dorm room. Just how broke ass is this college? -- It's nuts that Amy, the archetype for helicopter moms, has disappeared. -- Crazy Sophia was the only thing worth watching today. When all else fails, give me some gonzo acting!

A lot of us were worried. It should be a given that Sonny wouldn't be there, but we know this show -- so we've been holding our breath. It's crazy, but this feels like a gift.

B&B: September 2025 Discussion Thread
I agree. That was SO bad. Clearly this show not only has no investment in gay characters, but won't even write a single conversation about a gay son that is in any way meaningful or moving. -- $Bill is such a loser and a putz. Only on this show would a character dealing with all this family drama make a pitch to remarry an ex he treated like garbage.

9-1-1: Nashville
It is ridiculous on the page, but 9-1-1 knows exactly what it is, and carries it off. Citation needed for my opinion that production values are good? Watch the show. This is a network TV drama with a controlled budget compared to the streamers while pushing out 18 episodes per season when streamers give us 6-10.

GH: September 2025 Discussion Thread
Steve Burton was the star again today. His grief was palpable. Rory Gibson was really good, especially for someone who didn't know Leslie Charleson at all. Lynn Herring did a very nice job, so I'll forgive the ridiculous idea that she'd be invited to speak at the funeral. Wally Kurth was good, and so was Lisa LoCicero, even with very few lines. I can only imagine watching Jane Elliott tomorrow. I hope Leslie Charleson knew how much she was loved.

Gio's comment to Jason that he wasn't attending the memorial as a member of the family was just stupid. Grow up already.

9-1-1: Nashville
CO-SIGN for all three of those sentences! That's exactly why the entire 9-1-1 franchise is so successful. It's all over-the-top madness. Production values are always very good, and the guys are hot. That's good enough for me.

BTG: September 2025 Discussion Thread
Fully agree. Honestly, if we got these kinds of shows in the first couple weeks, I never would have jumped on the I Love BTG train. I think the show has been off == it's just different -- and the dialogue has been hit-or-miss. -- Having the rings as a story thread for every set of characters was a great idea, ruined by some really bad set-ups and dialogue. -- Naomi being upset about losing her rings? Of course. That's realistic. But the emotional meltdown she had wherein losing the rings meant her marriage was over? Ridiculous. -- Ashley acted like paint was spilled on that rug instead of beer. And I still want to know how Derek climbs onto that platform and into bed. -- Ted's dialogue about the rings was good, but if that was a Ted/June chem test, I WILL SCREAM. Nothing about that makes sense, nor does him spilling his heart to someone he never met before. Nor does his complete ignorance as to who June is. -- Why did Ted go to Orphey Gene's anyway? He didn't order, he didn't eat, he didn't have coffee. -- The ring stuff didn't work with Vanessa. She has screwed how many escorts? How much cheating has this woman done? Yet her rings mean everything to her? GMAFB. -- Of the couple dozen+ characters on BTG, Joey Armstrong is the LAST person I want to see bedding down anyone. So who do we get more than anyone? Joey Armstrong. Make it stop. -- That room Joey rented looks like it was furnished by Dollar General. -- For a time, I was OK for Joey's mob using Doug to get Vanessa in line. Now? I don't understand why Joey wants Doug to be ruined financially and emotionally unless it's to get Vanessa for himself. So Joey cares about Vanessa? Gag me. -- I understand Year One growing pains, but this is the most painful period of the first seven months.
