  1. I'll add that Y&R has to be concerned about that 18-49 demo. That alone is reason to fire Josh Griffith.
  2. What's concerning is that BTG ratings fell while the other soaps all increased. Those Tues-Thurs. ratings in the 18-49 demo are bad.
  3. The writing matters a great deal, of course, but GH is in a class of its own with sets. There's a real world there in Port Charles, and it feels like an actual town. When the sets are done right -- as I think they are on GH -- it elevates a soap in ways that writing alone cannot.
  4. If this is Josh Griffith's last gasp to save his job, he's in deep, deep trouble, because this stuff is as bad or worse than what's put him in a hole.
  5. I agree COMPLETELY. I wouldn't blame Theo if he NEVER forgave JJ. That would make perfect sense to me. And then we get this insane scene during the blackout where JJ practically accosts Theo for being out? What? That was ugly.
  6. Michael Roark was great on Y&R, and I thought it was a huge mistake when they got rid of him. I did not understand it, especially since Amelia Heinle has never been a chemistry magnet. They were really good together. He's aged a bit, but is still very good-looking. I'm glad to see him on DAYS. -- I know they have to somehow attach Stephanie's story to this ridiculous damn book, but if her memories of Jeremy are SO bad and SO traumatic, why did she write that into her book in the first place? It makes no sense to me.
  7. Yep. The set design on Gates is hit-and-miss, but really is more miss than hit, at least for the characters' residences.
  8. Why "Poor Ben"? Joshua Morrow has been on Y&R for 31 years. Sounds like he'd be a good role model for Ben Gavin.
  9. -- Ben Gavin has a good moment here and there -- among some very awkward moments that do not work. I'm not calling for a recast, but he needs to improve. -- I don't see the comparison between Ben Gavin and Joshua Morrow except that they're both good looking. Was Morrow rough when he started? Yes, but he was much younger then than Gavin is now. By Ben Gavin's age, Josh Morrow was doing much better work. -- We've done this before. JM regularly is raked over the coals on this board, and I step in to defend him, and no, it's not just because he's hot. -- Morrow nails the Nick character perfectly. Is he playing himself? Maybe -- but he's also playing Nick. The guy is always prepared, always knows his lines, is generous to other actors, and never phones it in. I don't get the criticism. -- Why is calling Morrow a frat boy a criticism anyway? Nick is a frat boy -- and always has been. The casting was perfect.
  10. It's so bad that I have no words. Not one element of that room speaks money or class. Bill's office is nice, so I don't know that I'd blame him for that living room disaster. I guess it's all on tacky Hayley. Everything looks like it came from the Walmart clearance aisle.
  11. It goes without saying that Y&R is awful these days. Still, Jess Walton made today's episode worth it. She elevated every scene, and actually did Billy Flynn a huge favor, making his Cane work better than before.
  12. Can you explain why his breakdown bothered you? No snark intended -- I truly don't understand what if anything was wrong with it. -- Joey is despicable not only for what he did to Doug but for the games he's playing with Donnell. And what does Town Mattress Vanessa do? Gives off all these awkward, weird smiles and mouths "Thank you" to Joey when she leaves. -- Good conversation between Jacob and Naomi but I had to laugh when Jacob mentioned his swagger. Jacob is good looking and a good dude, but I don't see him as someone with swagger. -- I'm sorry we missed Derek climbing up that platform to get into bed. -- Ted has made big mistakes, but why does he get more flak here than Bill, who is nothing but a serial cheater and emotional abuser? -- We've been told Bill constantly slept around. Then he married his daughter's best friend. Now his priority is to make sure his ex-wife ends her relationship. Bill is trash, and THE DUPREES should hate him. -- No gold stars for Dani, either. She marries Andre, doesn't want an annulment or divorce, and then tells him she doesn't want to live with him? Andre should kick her to the curb.
  13. The scenes are worth watching for Erika Slezak and what she does with every line of the material. She really is masterful. To me, Maurice Benard was a nothing burger. He didn't add anything, but at least he didn't get in the way. We didn't get his usual stumbles and pauses, and he didn't try to compete with ES. I'll take the win.
  14. I liked CM as Brennan, but this ain't it. Neither are his other posts referencing the "backstage politics." I love tea, but I side-eye this. Hey, Charles, -- "Many of my colleagues"? Which ones? How many? -- Does that mean some colleagues are unhappy? Which ones? How many? -- The "GH environment"? What the hell is that? Got even one specific? -- These "backstage politics" that were so "disturbing and unprecedented" and "damaging to the work." Got an example? Any specifics at all? -- Why were you so involved in all of this backstage stuff? Were people yelling so often and so loudly that you couldn't miss the arguments? Were hands thrown? Did writers show up and argue with Frank while scenes were being taped? You get my point. Mesure gives us enough so we can call it juicy tea while essentially saying nothing. I honestly think he should keep his mouth shut.
  15. Why in the hell is Luna living at Bill's???
  16. And Scotch? That's really what you offer a 21-year old for his "first drink"?
  17. -- Vanessa continues to "grieve" (meaning not one tear shed) in full glam. That long leather skirt and those fake eyelashes really signal a widow in mourning. 😂 -- I cannot wait until Donnell finds out his mother is the town mattress who's also screwing the Golden Corral Casino mob boss. -- Is Joey really that smart? I don't think bringing in Doug's dealer was such a good idea. -- I'm so tired of THE DUPREES going after anyone but another Dupree. It's always someone else's fault. Yesterday, Nicole went after Andre. Today it was Naomi. Maybe they should go after Dani, or even better, let her live her own life. -- I understand the need to see Dani and Bill go after each other. The actors always rise to the occasion. Still, I'd rather see Dani give Bill the finger and tell him to fcuk off. She shouldn't listen to a word he says. -- Hayley wants to get pregnant, but it stretches the imagination to think Bill Hamilton really wants another baby. Or does it make him feel alpha to knock up a woman?
  18. I was going to say Party City, but you might be right.
  19. Why does Amy get the worst wigs ever?
  20. I'm confused about the "Monica's will, Part 2" clip. It opens with Jason entering the room, and taking his place behind the sofa, when he hears Monica left him the watch. Then at 0:38, we see Jason again walking in, this time stopping to greet Veronica. Huh? What's going on here?
  21. So are we to assume Charles Mesure's comment had nothing to do with actors and everything to do with writing and production?
  22. -- I agree that the lighting at Il Giardino is weird. I also doubt we'll continue to see that many extras there. -- The DRAMA over this daddy-daughter dance is so absurd. It's THE BIGGEST DEAL IN THE WORLD for Hope to be there with Beth and Liam? This is something ENORMOUS for Carter and Hope to deal with? GMAFB. -- That turns into Carter saying goodbye? Ending the relationship? Jesus. -- BUT WAIT! THERE'S MORE! -- Carter goes to Il Giardino, finds an open table waiting for him, and smiles as Daphne sings at open mic. He calls himself "a loser in love" and then IMMEDIATELY he and Daphne are giving google eyes to each other.
  23. I agree. MG isn't the strongest actor, but she's certainly capable of playing better than they're giving her. On paper, that character is fire. In execution, not so much. As I've said before, BTG has WAY too many "We'll drop this here...and get back to it later...MUCH later" stories. I love the idea of it, but not with so many plotlines. I know exactly what you mean. Many people have favorite dialogue writers, but usually that's because they turn out something special. Even without the "special," they're always very good on a base level. We're seeing evidence that some of these dialogue writers fall below that base level and are not capturing characters' tone/essence/vibe. When you say to yourself, "That doesn't sound like ________," it's not good. I'm not happy with the background music, either. In so many ways, Gates embraces the soap genre, but with the music, it goes for "We're different. We're the anti-soap." I don't think it works.
  24. She turned down the accent and the acting tics by at least half, and that's made the difference.
  25. -- That's a lot of glam on Vanessa for a widow in deep mourning. -- The casting for Vanessa's son is pretty good, but we should also be seeing his twin sister. It's not believable that she'd stay at school and miss her dad's funeral. And no, throwing in a line that she's seeing her therapist doesn't help. -- Nicole, either go talk to your sister or MYOFB. Andre doesn't need your lectures and advice. -- So Shanice can't tell Ashley that Derek has feeling in his legs. Why can't she write this on his daily chart? Wouldn't Ashley see that every day? -- Ashley showed in her conversation with Andre just how pathetic she is. I get annoyed as hell with Derek's lies to her, then I realize she's a bigger and worse liar than he is. In addition, her games and vibe with Andre are hard to watch. -- Dani, seriously? You're still this much in love with a guy who never stopped cheating on you during your entire marriage? -- In typical Dani fashion, one mistake leads to another. Gotta love how much Anita influences her daughter 😂
