BTG: October 2025 Discussion Thread
-- The Isaiah actor has the look and the vibe that could work. I'll give him time, but damn, all that head bobbing and hand movement was rough. I hope someone in production gives him notes, but I've learned not to expect anything from the soaps regarding direction. -- I think it's fair to ask if Izaiah will have a home. We've already discussed the sets problem on Gates, and now we have the guy doing school work at Uptown. And Nicole goes there to work, too??? -- Naomi is working my last nerve. -- No one can convince me Joey works as a scary mob boss. Every part of the script is paint-by-numbers, and he constantly TELLS us he's dangerous. We're never shown that danger. -- Randy is Joey's right hand man. RANDY. The guy who says and does the dumbest possible things in public. The guy who Joey was THISCLOSE to getting rid of permanently. -- Worst of all is that godawful Golden Corral Casino set. It's complete crap and a joke. But they did dress up that set this week -- now there's a big orange glass orb on the casino bar, just what people always see at a casino around crowds and drinkers.

-- I felt like I was watching a different soap today, with Carly in that ridiculous wig and getting into spy jail to see Valentin so easily and quickly. -- The "Tracy Lives With Lulu" stuff is "fun"....I guess? I just have a problem with Tracy moving in with someone and sleeping on their couch. I don't see it happening. And then she wants to put an entire storage truck full of stuff into Lulu's house? Ridiculous. -- Mo Benard was having a bad day. -- Are Ezra and Professor Dalton gone? Or just two more characters Frank hired and disposed of stat?

B&B: October 2025 Discussion Thread
As I guessed, Luna had someone beat her up. Of course, only the morons on B&B would run to her side and not question if she's behind it. I guess any ridiculous reason to get her out of jail will work.

Exactly. She's still and always the town mattress. A week after burying Doug, she's in full glam, dressed to kill, and plotting her future with the Golden Corral Casino Mobster. Yesterday, she had her tatas out and on display at her dinner with Dani. Vanessa is not a serious person, and it's hard to believe she felt anything for Doug. Good intro for Izaiah, but the setting was sketchy. He goes to Uptown -- dimly and darkly lit -- and studies with an open book and pen like he's in the library? While Eva is doing voice memos for work from her dimly and darkly lit table?

I agree with all of that. Set usage is definitely a problem. Today was particularly bad.

I trust they're going to make it make sense if there's some suspicious reason Andre won't have his picture taken. After all, it's only been in the last year that he stopped taking photos, and he hasn't scrubbed his pics and information from the Internet. It's not like he's in hiding.

-- BTG really does commit to a bit. Randy has been showing up in public places -- when he should be skulking in private -- since day one. He's gotta be one of the dumbest criminals alive. -- Also dumb? Tacky wannabe killer Hayley, who gets the killer potion from "Sammy" at popular Uptown, and makes sure the bartender hears them. -- Randy's text about the potion ("Use a little at a time, let it build up") was HILARIOUS for its vague directions. -- And then dumb Randy tells Joey he and Hayley are hooking up?🤣 Oh, my sides! 😂 -- Joey was also a luagh riot, giving Randy the names of casino losers who owe him big money on a 3"x4" slip of paper from a mini-spiral notepad. -- Is Randy the best Golden Corral Casino Mobster Joey can do? -- Naomi and Jacob desperately need another set. Seeing her again doing her legal work on her bed is awkward as hell, and it's not cutting it. -- Pamela is back! Cady McClain returns with a much stronger accent than last time -- keep it up, Cady! We love the camp and the absolute trainwreck you are! -- Is Thorsten Kaye supposed to bring eyeballs to Gates? Because LOL. And I thought Forrester Creations was an iconic prestige brand. You mean they want an ad campaign with a couple who ran off to Vegas to marry and who don't even live together? Very romantic, Ridge!

-- Did Luna set it up for someone to beat her in prison? Is this part of her plan?😂 -- The dye on Don Diamont's face is bad. Looks like they used the same stuff Maurice Benard uses on GH to make Sonny seem younger. I attached a photo here to show how much better he looks without the supposed glow up. -- Diamont also needs to be styled differently. He's a good looking guy, but he's 62, not 42. Those super tight shirts and jeans don't work any longer, and he looks like some overstuffed guido on a Real Housewives show.

Yeah, I don't care about her winning either. Why should I? She's become ridiculous x 10.

Phyllis was embarrassing. Why go back to this insane jealousy at Christine when she's been so wrapped up with Cane and Billy for weeks and weeks? It came off as a standalone episode there was no reason to watch. I think they wrote the GCAC as booked out so they could avoid paying extras.

-- I had no problem with Mona's "It's in God's hands" statement, but combined with her plea that Nicole forgive Ted, it was a bit much. Isn't she the same person who not only can't forgive Leslie but doesn't even want to talk to her? -- I am curious about what Vernon is hiding. These Duprees are sure messy. 😂 -- So Anita and Dani had their talk in the living room but Vernon took Dani out to the foyer? To the FOYER? 🤣 -- It's always good to see real food on the soaps, but I don't think that breakfast food at Orphey Gene's looked good at all. In my mind, OG's has INCREDIBLE food -- a lot of it with a great presentation. That was not it. -- Leslie was too extra again today. I like her extra, but not TOO extra. Jamey Giddens needed to ditch the headphones after that first scene with Leslie at the bar. Once she got to her table, the headphones made her look crazy -- and not in a fun way. -- Eva knows her mother inside and out, but it's hilarious that she has no influence on Leslie at all. All she does is "OH, MAW-MA!" everything.

-- I think Brad Bell flat-out lied to Scott Clifton about Liam dying. I don't believe that was ever the real plan. -- SC is "honored" by that storyline? Are you kidding me? The guy knows how to kiss the ass of "Mr. Bell," I'll say that. -- More hilarity today with Steffy seeing Luna in jail -- unattended. Gotta love things that would NEVER be permitted in real life. 😂 Is there any chance Poppy is playing Luna just to see her reaction?

-- Chris McKenna (Brennan) lost some weight and looks good. -- I just asked last week: Can Laura Wright EVER do an emotional scene without screaming and yelling? She doesn't know the meaning of nuance. -- Laura's remodeled kitchen already looks out of date. -- The tea party at the Q's was fun, and I had to laugh at those salmon sandwiches. Doesn't everyone at a gathering want fish breath? And Portia gagging on that mushroom Olivia gave her? -- Drunken Ronnie was hilarious! When she read Tracy for filth, I just about lost it! Erika Slezak can do it all. -- Regardless the logic/content in Dante and Michael's argument, the acting was top notch, especially from Rory Gibson. He has really reinvented the Michael character in all the best ways. -- The previews for tomorrow? Excellent. -- Coming off Friday's Emmy win for Best Drama, this episode showed us why.

To be fair, why should he leave and why would they tell him to leave? The numbers are there. The show looks good and it's firing on at least as many cylinders as any other soap. On top of that, he wins Emmys. I have a ton of problems with the entire Daytime Emmy process, but it's not a negative to win. I know all the criticisms of Frank Valentini, and I agree with many of those. I just don't think he should lose his job.

Just as I needed PJ to explain what he meant about plotting -- which he did very well -- I continue to ask for an explanation about breakdowns. Maybe I'm just dense, but I do not understand why one breakdown is considered to be great and another to be bad. A certain poster here repeatedly trashes a couple writers' breakdowns, and while I've asked for an explanation, it never comes. I guess I need the "PJ-style explanation" of why any particular breakdown is terrible vs one that's really good.

Whether the show deserves credit or not, I'm now going to applaud the set of Bill and Haley's living room. I've complained for over 8 months about how tacky and junky it looks. Now I'm thinking it's intentional because Hayley is cheap and she's a thug, and her taste is bad... really bad. Nothing about their place screams class and elegance, because Hayley has none.

The linear ratings for GH have been consistent. It's behind Y&R and B&B in total viewers, but it's RIGHTTHERE in the 18-49 demo. Just as importantly these days, GH has been streaming really well. In the weeks before the new primetime season began, GH was finishing in the streaming chart Top 5 almost every day of the week, sometimes at #1. I thought it would disappear from the chart once the new TV season began, but that hasn't happened, and GH is still finishing in the Top 10 on every weekday. ABC has to be pleased.

Your examples aren't weak, and you explained your point very well. I can't disagree with anything you said, and it's clear that my only disagreement is using the words simplicity and complexity. You're not too old or unhip -- unless I am, too. I've been bothered by the way slang is incorporated into dialogue from the beginning. We've had scripts where characters like Kat, Samantha, Chelsea, or Eva include slang in every other line -- followed by scripts from other writers that are devoid of anything modern/urban/current. I commented here about "Articulettes Strong" the first time it was used. It's a complete anachronism, and I cannot believe they keep returning to it. That's where I am with Naomi. She's upset and angry, but I'm tired of her lashing out at Jacob, who's been calm and reasonable with her. I've said it repeatedly: Don't want a baby? Then get an abortion. There's NO ONE stopping her or trying to stop her.

Got it. So that means Zende is on contract? YIKES.

BTG: October 2025 Discussion Thread
I agree with this. I think there's a noticeable difference in style and tone with some writers, especially when it comes to using current vernacular or slang. Some writers lean into it heavily, while others stay away from it. That doesn't work. At times the slang seems to be forced and overdone. That doesn't work. The consistency among writers isn't there.

BTG: October 2025 Discussion Thread
I know I must sound schizophrenic, because I've been so critical of different elements on BTG, but now I want to defend it I don't understand the "simplicity" accusation and I don't understand how there's a lack of complexity. Without examples, I can't get on board with either of those. What plots on the other soaps are complex? The business stories mess on Y&R? Who's married to Ridge this week on B&B? The Sophia baby daddy story on DAYS? The "no one pays for murder" stories on GH? I'm not trying to be difficult. Like all soaps, BTG has plenty of problems, but I don't see how complexity is one of them.

I don't think there is. Yeah, recently Anna has been more of a pest than anything else. It also makes me dwell on the incompetence of her entire department.
