  1. I maintain it's the characters who don't have a rabid fanbase, with people sending letters and launching campaigns to get them featured more, that keep a soap going. Catering to the psychos who harass TPTB to show more Manny or Richard or whoever is what has killed daytime because even with Edmund/Jeffrey/Cyrus (???) featured every [!@#$%^&*] day PEOPLE WERE TURNING AWAY IN DROVES. It's those stalwart characters who you know will still be around in some incarnation is what keeps people coming back over the years. And that doesn't even apply entirely to Maureen but she still at her relatively young age she filled a similar role in the show. You can't take these characters for granted and daytime does so so often. God, if all we wanted to see every day was a bunch of Todd Mannings running around causing havoc we'd turn on the news.
  2. I love you. Wow that ATWT promo really shows the ABC-ification of CBS at the time (that song If You're Not The One by Daniel Bedingfield was also added to my rotation at the time due to that commercial...or maybe it was used in a Danny/Michelle scene on GL? I can't recall). The Liz/Jason/Zander promo is great too even though I don't care for either pairing. Good. Because it's bad and I hate it.
  3. No, it's definitely not that because I only heard the song in the early 2000s and I could swear it was part of a daytime campaign. The only time NBC had decent promos was the campaign for Passions (which was not representative of the show AT ALL). These were sexy, glossy, high quality, the exact opposite of everything Passions represented. How long did the Get It On campaign last for CBS? And the Everything is Everything campaign? They're VERY similar. Oh wow was this a real promo? It's horrible and cheap looking.
  4. Ha! That discussion prompted me to look up a bunch of old promos this morning. This is my favorite ABC daytime promo of all time featuring one of my favorite couples. They DON'T EVEN TOUCH and it's sexier than well most everything else in daytime today. This whole campaign was great. I didn't care about the show even a little bit but I loved when ABC had the budget to get a Madonna (?!) song for their bottom of the ratings soap opera. And the Tainted Love promos were the first time I'd ever heard the song and I instantly loved it. Does anyone remember which promo used this song?
  5. Thanks @Khan I have a feeling NBC’s was a one off.
  6. Was that promo created before or after ABC's love in the afternoon campaign? Also the Another World part of that is so bizarre, it's just Rachel and Steve staring at each other. In fact I think Rachel's first shot is a still image.
  7. I'd watch! Sounds better than all those stupid Allison Sweeney movies.
  8. She's adorable. And I never noticed her resemblance to Vanessa Marcil until just now.
  9. Thanks for that. The amount of effort that was put into a crap scene/idea/story shows just how hard people in front of and behind the camera work on a soap. I didn't like the way Robin played Dorian for much of her last years on the show, way too hysterical. Now I see how much of that was a choice. Because when she was herself she was closer to the Dorian I would have preferred to see. Not this easily irritated old lady she became. And more from that channel, not sure if it's been posted before, a tribute to long time OLTL director David Pressman: Lots of behind the scenes stuff here. He was a legend and I didn't even know who he was until an hour ago.
  10. I think I found the start of the second day in Harmony. 26 episodes in.
  11. I've seen this one and the second one but I can't seem to find the first part of this series on her channel.
  12. Thanks for that. I've been waiting for them to talk about it. Chadwick Boseman can pass for 10 years younger now but he could not pass for a teenager then at all.
  13. He looks...fantastic. Handsome guy. WTF
  14. My god watching that Richard bio reminded me how bad all that San Cristobel crap was. Just laughable. Were viewers meant to care who ruled a country no one they cared about lived in? Personally I barely care when characters run for mayor on soaps. I can't imagine caring about some unknown monarchy in some Caribbean island (full of white people).
  15. Socorro Santiago (Isabella Santos, AMC) has a small role in Steve McQueen's Widows.
  16. Vanessa Marcil Says Son Is 'Heartbroken Since Being Cut Out' of Dad Brian Austin Green's Life
  17. To piggyback on that, Doug Stamper's therapist this season is the same reporter that hounded Erica and Bianca about Bianca's sexuality before she came out.
  18. It's stupid and Susan Lucci and SMG weren't even in the same timezone to shoot their "scene". In fact I'd bet money that Freddie Prinze Jr. shot her scenes on an iPhone and sent them to Gellman via Dropbox.
  19. Can someone else me with this? Years ago there was this Australian site that did recaps of old episodes of Days, 90s Reilly-era Days, I think they got the show maybe 5 years after it aired. I remember them being hilarious, full of screencaps and synopses and my first introduction to the show. Does anyone remember the name of that site?
  20. "Honey, they are gonna cancel your car insurance!" LOL! Soaps are just not funny anymore, it's a damn shame. I've been watching a lot of random episodes from 1992-1995 and wow the show was so great then. Erica was in her PRIME. Kendall's introduction added a ton of layers and story to her character. And the rest of the show is just as good. Pine Valley feels like a full lived in community.
  21. Yeah and good on him for not letting him off easy. Natalie Hall (Colby, AMC) is in the pilot for the CW reboot of Charmed.
  22. http://www.ratemyprofessors.com/ShowRatings.jsp?tid=593072 Apparently he's a hard ass. Shari Headley (Mimi, AMC) is in Goosebumps 2 for about .5 seconds.
