  5. Quoting full bluesky thread for posterity Namdor I’m just going to tell the story. Back in 2000 I was volunteering for the Gore campaign when he came along with Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Alfre Woodard and Dule Hill to a GOTV event here in MN. He ended up sitting down across from me stuffing his envelopes. Given he was one of my favorite directors of all time, I couldn’t believe my luck. I chatted him up for over an hour, and he shared behind the scenes insights from Princess Bride, Stand by Me, All in the Family, basically indulged me warmly and graciously. But what was amazing is he asked me Almost as many questions about me as I did about him. Eventually the campaign came and moved him around. A couple hours later, they announced the celebrities were leaving and we all applauded and waved goodbye. They all walked out. A few minutes later someone tapped me on the shoulder. It was Rob, saying he just wanted to say goodbye and how much he enjoyed our chat. I stood up to shake his hand and he gave me a big hug and said something so profoundly kind to me about something I shared with him. I’ll never forget his warmth and unpretentiousness. Rob Reiner was the proverbial mensch. May he and his wife rest in peace. His memory will always be a blessing to me from that one small interaction we had. I’m sure he touched people’s lives like this everywhere he went. We’ll miss him. Don’t know if anyone will read this, but I had to get it out. What a beautiful human being.
  6. from abcnews Rob Reiner first became famous on the Norman Lear television sitcom "All in the Family." ""The Lear Family is devastated by the deaths of Rob and Michele Reiner,” the statement shared with ABC News began. “Norman often referred to Rob as a son, and their close relationship was extraordinary, to us and the world,” the family’s statement said. “Norman would have wanted to remind us that Rob and Michele spent every breath trying to make this country a better place, and they pursued that through their art, their activism, their philanthropy, and their love for family and friends.” "Lyn Lear had remained very close with them and said, ‘The world is unmistakably darker tonight, and we are left bereft,’” the Lear family statement added. Lyn Lear is Norman Lear's widow. _________________ Norman Lear, who died at the age of 101 in 2023, talked about Reiner in his 2014 memoir, “Even This I Get to Experience.” “To be alone with Rob Reiner is to be in a crowd. His brain and his mouth, like a chain of Chinese firecrackers, are firing constantly,” Lear wrote. “If that sounds like I'm describing a pain in the a--, nothing could be further from the truth. Rob was like that when I fell in love with him as a nine-year-old teaching my daughter Ellen to play jacks. What was great about Rob was that the person, the actor, the director, the friend, the participant, the activist, the star, the husband, and the father all came from the center of his being.”

  10. Not a spoiler. Just a * very * enthusiastic interview from Greg Vaughan from Dec. 7. (interviewed by Melodie Aikels of DaytimeConfidential) Worth watching. He is so joyful and appreciative to be on BTG. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-n3Uku2YoAM

  13. Nick/Lily had great chemistry in that fantasy sequence in 2016. Victor is in jail for arranging for Marco to repeatedly rape Phyllis. His family is mad at him, but Victor imagines that his family would have fallen apart if he had left town twenty years prior, and what they would be like now if he'd been gone. ANYWAYS, in Victor's imagination, Nick is a ruthless heartless mogul and is with Lily. The Nick/Lily ( "Lick" ) chemistry was pretty good. To the point that it's long-remembered even though only part of a single episode. It's in the vault as March 2, 2016
  14. The last time the character Sonny was present at an ornament hanging ceremony was 2017. The only time Zach Tinker's Sonny aired in December was in 2022. That Christmas he was at the K-mansion, feeling sorry for Leo, and inviting Leo to stay there. Will arrived as a surprise, was upset to see Leo, and turned around and left. That was it. Worst Christmas for WilSon.

  16. Bringing this over here to the politics thread, as a sanity timeline cleanse. Thanks to @DRW50 for posting this on the GH history thread. It's still relevant today. drw50 said: This is a lovely set of scenes and has a humanity that seems so lost now. GH: Mary Mae reminds Laura to hope (2/11/94)
  17. There have been large many-year gaps in my watching of GH since I started in 1969. Many years missed. This is the first time I've ever seen Mary Mae Ward, although I've heard much about her. Thanks so much for posting. She's amazing.
  18. This is truly wonderful. Thank you for posting! And yes we all need this now.
