  1. So crazy they got him. But If you have to recast Faison that's a way to do it. (I assume he has to be either Faison or some relative/cohort.) I just fear GH will waste him the way they did Dee Wallace and Veronica Cartwright(!!) on nothing parts. Say what you will about Guza and The Balkan, he made sure Adrienne Barbeau's role went somewhere even when it was silly.
  2. Nah. I've seen women in that age go for far more physically vile men with power. I buy it. I don't think it's 1994, but I do think Lindstrom has eased into playing the role well. Joey is supposed to be seen as loathsome or bad news, and I do think he has an expiration date.
  3. I think BC/Martin has come so far in a short time from when I was clowning his performance and delivery every day. I think he's very watchable, especially since Martin got the stick out of his ass post-scandal. He's still an acquired taste performance-wise but there's plenty like that in the genre (Mo Benard, Braeden), and he's a presence unlike any other on daytime in terms of LGBT visibility and gay men of color. I'm very much here for him and Smitty these days. And I def think there needs to be a lot more of him and Kat. Those two siblings are a hoot together, especially when he dropped his politician voice as soon as he heard what had happened with Tomas at the hospital.
  4. I get the critique, but I also think Joey works as an antagonist so I don't have a huge issue with it. And I do think in the end it will be Vanessa who will take his empire, which works for me personally. Full circle. My only complaint about Joey is the silly-ass casino set/Golden Corral. I do think having a similar Black antagonist would help down the line. Hayley and Leslie are good for what they are, but it's not the same thing. But I suspect that's why they are keeping Dante Green in the background for now. It is inevitable he shows up and wreaks havoc as an archvillain.
  5. You're missing out on a lot of soap stories and couples that way. Starting with many on this show.
  6. Using Ronnie in a scheme is something A.J. might've done, but it wouldn't make any sense for someone like Emily. But yes, any new relative would be good.
  7. Didn't Wally Kurth and Jane Elliot fúck on DAYS and then play Ned and Tracy? They're not the only example. This sort of thing has happened on daytime many times. Who cares.
  8. Crazy to hear in the They Almost Were thread that BC was almost a love interest for Hilary on Y&R shortly before she was killed off.
  9. Wow. Considering how proudly gay he is on BTG I cannot imagine that. I am glad he's stuck around and evolved onscreen - there is no other presence like his on daytime. I do not remember his brief GH role in 2013 at all.
  10. Yeah, it's not for me either.
  11. I would not start in April personally. The show is very rough under Rauch then. I started '91 around late July/early August when Gottlieb was already in place and Malone not far behind, already making small changes to the show and adding/cutting people. Malone's first credited day is September 13th, but he was already having clear influence before then with a few bits here and there, and Gottlieb had already introduced Mark Brettschneider as Jason in August.
  12. Having Ronnie turn out to be a pure ogre and leaving behind some long-suffering young person as a new character would have been ideal. But Frank continues to expect GH fans to coronate and roll out the red carpet for any OLTL star, and was fine with once again trying to humiliate Tracy to make it work. He thinks it's 2013 and he and Ron are still the toast of the town who 'saved soaps' and own OLTL in perpetuity. I love Erika and tbqh it's really not that serious for the cast and crew, who by all accounts loved having her. I'm glad she was able to focus on getting back to work at a time she likely needed it. I'm always glad to see her, but I wish this had been done differently. Of course I wish many things on this show were done differently, top to bottom. I like Wally/Ned fine. Do I think he's a leading man? No, not for many, many, many years. And I always found the singing, etc. cringeworthy. But I do like Ned for who he is (often a pompous, scheming ass) and I wish they used him better.
  13. I don't think either of them are any good.
  14. Oh, thanks for this. I had no idea.
  15. It's something they can and should easily do at some point, more linkage to Monica's family which is a rich history (and not wholly incestuous). Martin is pond scum.
  16. I know Diane Ladd best and first from Wild at Heart. I could never forget her. But she has such a legend. @DRW50 I think you'd appreciate this:
  17. All I can say is I'm a Jew and I'm not. I don't agree with everything Mamdani's ever said, nor do I like some of his supporters, and he's going to have a very uphill battle getting anything a fraction of what he wants done with the knives out already from the local powers and the city press. But I don't think he's an antisemite out to wreak terror on the Jewish population of New York and I never have. I think his heart is in the right place and his kind of energy and campaign approach is very necessary for the party going forward. Whether his head is equipped for getting any of his agenda done remains to be seen. I hope so.
  18. I didn't think the Majority Report still existed. The NY Post is right wing trash and always has been.
  19. They're losing the shutdown and they're losing next year, assuming for a moment we have fair elections. But it's going to take some serious systemic changes in the party to capitalize on those wins if they happen, and not soft-walk or neglect to deliver consequences to the right in many areas, which was a fatal mistake. We have to come down hard in ways Dems are too often squeamish about. We also have to invest in real liberal media outlets, not just continue going to the major networks hat in hand and begging for fair play and running TV ads. That was outmoded years ago. And they hate us. I want to be clear: I think it's so shameful how Joe Biden's been treated. He was the only man who could've beaten Trump in 2020, and if he'd run in '16 I think none of this ever happens. He gave his life and his blood serving this country, and he did a lot of great work in office. But as of now it will take a decade or more for any of it to be properly remembered and respected. He is now seen as Carter 2.0 or worse, a failed presidency. It will take many years to recover his public honor. I hate that, and I hate that that's what he's facing in the twilight of his life. That's not right. To hear talk about Biden now, or Democrats period, you'd think he and we always had the approval rating of the Ebola virus. Media is openly aggressive to anyone who ever voted for him, let alone anyone who worked with him; there is such a naked, open contempt in mainstream media (despite supposed 'impartiality' rules at these outlets that are clearly non-binding for liberals) not just for Biden Democrats but Democrats, liberals or progressives in general, that frankly makes some of the 2000s look like a day at the fair. I blame Twitter cooking the brains of a lot of mainstream/access media who were already venal and largely grown in conservative thinktanks or leftist outlets, exposing them largely to Nazis and the far right and trending them even further in that direction. And that is what we're dealing with media-wise, to say nothing of a massive fascist right-wing takeover at every level of government. I don't believe every neophyte or firebrand is good for every state and I don't love every candidate (and fúck Graham Platner), but I fear the worst if we take back everything and the right people have learned nothing. Key mistakes were made there over the last few years, not just by Biden's WH but by the entire party. The base is fed up and they're right to be. We can't afford to handle the right with kid gloves anymore, or not act aggressively upon re-taking office for fear of politicizing the problem or wanting to 'turn the page'. We have to break them and put them away. It's going to take more than one cycle to do that and probably more than one or two White Houses. I like to consider myself a patient and grounded man, but these are not patient or grounded times. And hey, I know @DRW50 is pleased Youngkin's whole bench got annihilated.
  20. The last time Donnell bothered to act. He can miss me too. Portia and Trina are the only ones I'd keep, despite the fact that the show clearly hates either Portia, BK or both. She's the only strong actor in the older trio. Isaiah I might let hang doing anything else and see how it goes. He needs to grow his beard out again.
  21. It's obvious Frank explicitly did not want anyone onscreen to turn on Erika Slezak/Viki from OLTL, so Tracy gets the rock again. So disgusting. This is why I am so, so tired of this creative team.
  22. I wish I could be unpleasantly surprised.
  23. You don't need to re-post that just because everyone is talking about it.
  24. I still don't know what exactly happened with Tracy and the Soleitos, per what they said in 2011. It is a decent idea though. IIRC they almost cast Amy Van Horne (Lark from PC) as one of the Soleitos at that time? I dunno if that's true.
