  1. I wonder if the demands Dorothy Lyman allegedly made explains why she wasn't even asked to reprise Opal when the character was brought back in 1989 - despite winning two Emmys (the first in the supporting category, the second in the lead category).
  2. So will I. Good writing can cover a multitude of miscues elsewhere.
  3. To me, it shows that Susan Lucci is much like the rest of us in personality traits. Would YOU want the press/fans constantly reminding you of the fact that you haven't won that elusive statue? I think her famous losing streak was already garnering attention by 1983 and had to be an absolute nightmare by the time it finally ended in 1999.
  4. So do I, and I think something like that is also a trait that matched Mac's personality. Even when the two were at their absolute low points together, there was never any doubt that Mac and Rachel were each other's true loves. Thus, it makes sense that he never would have loved Janice.
  5. Does anyone know what Linda Fairgate's maiden name was? I can't find it.
  6. I didn't even know Susan Brown was on Y&R. She must have gotten GH just after this.
  7. I read about the Lucci/Lyman "feud" in the 1987 book Soap Opera Babylon. I don't know how much of it is true, but it did say that Susan burst into tears when Dorothy was announced as Best Actress.
  8. Yup - and he's had the best of both worlds by having most of his Firefly co-stars guest on Castle.
  9. Terry Kiser and his co-star remind me of Sigfried and Roy in those clips. I'm sure Jane Seymour has long since forgotten about this one.
  10. I know. Even by 80s standards, the hair was hideous!!!
  11. Too bad Susan never appeared on Mama's Family. Then again, if those rumors of problems between her and Dorothy Lyman were true, then I guess it's not hard to see why she wouldn't have.
  12. I know that her one-time husband, Ross Kettle (who played Jeffrey Conrad on SB), was nominated for the Younger Actor Emmy one year. Wasn't she (Michelle) nominated for an Emmy the same year?
  13. I don't know, but I think it does say something that neither Bev or Vicky ever won and the third in their "triangle", Doug Watson, walked away with two consecutive trophies. But then, I have never, EVER heard anyone in the acting arena or the soap press say a bad word about Mr. Watson.
  14. Both episodes today feature the "core" - Matt, Althea and Nick - with Carolee in the first episode and Maggie in the second. Ed Stark is in both. One thing that really surprised me (well, another thing surprised me - but that's what Nick DIDN'T do, LOL) - was Nick's take on faith. I was totally expecting him to mock faith, prayer, religion, etc. but he shocked me by saying that faith is "fine", as long as people take advantage of the medical treatment available to them. I wonder how Matt and the hospital board are going to handle the issue - especially if Mr. Anderson gets his lawyers involved.
  15. Avatar610 - I bet your prediction will be right on the money. Then it will be up to Matt to break things up. Oh, so looking forward to it already!!
  16. God bless Nolan Miller. He was just as every bit as important as the cast members of the shows he designed clothes for.
  17. Well, I had always enjoyed Firefly, so I considered that making it. LOL But you're right that Nathan Fillion didn't find his greatest success until Castle.
  18. Mr. Anderson, anyway. I get the feeling Mrs. Anderson doesn't fully believe everything that her husband does. They're probably Jehovah's Witnesses, though of course they'd never mention the religion on TV. Or is it the Christian Scientists who are fully against medical treatment? I know Jehovah's Witnesses don't believe in blood transfusions, but about other medical care, I have no idea. As for Ed Stark, Matt is probably giving him chance after chance as a favor to Ed's father and hospital board member, Paul. That's my theory on that issue, anyway.
  19. It's a shame that Michelle Forbes didn't become a bigger star. She really was one of the biggest unsung talents to hit daytime in the mid/late 80s.
  20. I never knew that Darnell gave Debbi away at her wedding. How sweet!!
  21. What treasures!! Thank you for sharing them.
  22. Good for Kim - I've always liked her. I just wonder why she hasn't been given her own show by now.
  23. Episode 1 today marks Round 2 between Dr. Sour Kraut and Dr. Horndog. Steve knows EXACTLY what Karen's up to. I cracked up when she yelled at him to "JUST SHUT UP!!!" But she is not stupid, not by a long shot. Maggie finally gets her rival to move out, but Karen then enlists Matt to help her apartment hunt, hopefully to a place near him - or rather, the hospital. (Uh-huh.) And once again, the good chief of staff falls for it all hook, line and sinker. Matt, when will you wake up? Also, Dr. Matt, when are you going to take Dr. Aldrich to task for his, ahem, mixing business with pleasure? He apparently didn't learn from the last lecture. With Karen and several other staff members (extras) noticing he and Liz running around, it shouldn't be too long before Matt hears about Dr. Horndog's latest escapades. Of course, my money is on the Sour Kraut. LOL We get a reference to Bill, Ruth and Danny - apparently the new family is getting along just fine and everybody is happy. How nice to hear. Also, we get a reference per Steve of this being a "national election year", as indeed 1968 was - ushering in the soap opera that would be known as the Nixon administration. Episode 2 - Althea and Nick band together as dedicated doctors to help a certain patient in need. I melted toward the end of the episode when Nick called Althea "Tiger". I hope tomorrow's first episode picks right up from where they left off, with Carolee's urgent phone call to Althea in the clinic and Althea rushing out to catch the elevator to the third floor. Maybe we'll finally get the confrontation between two certain very stubborn men that I've been waiting for!! Great, great show. I love it - it's like comfort food.
  24. I'm surprised Maggie didn't start partying right then and there when Karen announced she was moving out. (For some reason, now I have Billy Joel's "Movin' Out (Anthony's Song)" running through my head now. If you also do now, I wash my hands of it. LOL) Maybe later on, she and Althea will celebrate with a bottle of champagne. LOL I bet Matt was just more relieved than anything else that Karen beat him to the punch about the issue. He may be a bull with the hospital board when the occasion calls for it, but in a lot of other ways, he is the typical guy who doesn't want to be stuck in the middle and deal with confrontations, etc. Jim Pritchett did an excellent job of keeping Matt human.
  25. That's an interesting thought, but then we never would have gotten Nathan Fillion. I love how he went back to OLTL for a few episodes after he had already "made it".
