I read somewhere that Tracey Bregman went to private school with Mindy Cohn. Charlotte Rae discovered Mindy while visiting the school getting information etc... when they were casting Facts Of Life in 1979. Tracey and Lisa Whelchel were both born th same day May 29, 1963.

Looking at the early development Y&R material and what would become the Brooks sisters. In 1972 when Bell was creating Y&R there was a TV movie of the week called " All My Darling Daughters". Robert Young played the father of 4 very different daughters who all wind up getting married on the same day. I wonder if Bell saw that film and a light bulb went off and the Brooks sisters were born ?

Did Kay interact with Peggy Brooks during the story with Joann Curtis ? I would assumed Kay would have known Chris Brooks Foster since she was married to Snapper.

Wasn't there an interview with Bill Bell where he said Ted Corday basically on his death bed asked him to save his show ? Corday died in 1966. Ken talked about the barbaric cancer treatments at the time where they would zap his father with radiation, pack him in ice and bring him back to the house, carry him up the stairs and put him into bed.

I wonder who played Brent too in 1973. It would be cool if it was a soap vet starting out.

Thanks for the info. It's interesting that John Beck started in soaps that early on. He appears to be retired now along with Victoria Principal. VP is 70 now and JB is 77.

I saw that John Beck (Dallas, Flamingo Road, SB, Passions) was on Days in 1966. He played a character named Sam Wilson. I take it his character was a minor one that appeared as a patient of Tom Horton's.

Ron Becker is a character I have read about over the years, but have failed to see one single scene featuring him. I think Carolyn Conwell who would start playing Mary Williams in 1980, also played Ron's mother. Dick DeCoit who played Ron still acts and you can google recent pics of him. He seems to mainly do theater and online web projects.

How much did Kay"Katherine" interact with Snapper & Greg Foster ? I know Jill & Liz and later Bill interacted with her the most ? Did Katherine have scenes at all with Jennifer Brooks ? Someone said there was a hilarious episode where Katherine, Jennifer and Vanessa Prentiss all winding up in the office of a plastic surgeon on the same day. Did that happen or is it someones faulty memory ?

Elizabeth Harrower is the mother of Susan Seaforth Hayes. I remember Kay Alden saying Bill Bell asked her if she was serious about writing for soaps and gave her work assignments. She would mail them to him to critique and then a check would come in the mail if he liked them and used it on the show. This went on for a few months till she graduated from college. She said he then offered her a job. She figured she would rest up and take a vacation etc...then come to work. Bill shook his head and said " No that will not work for me. I need you here to start on Monday. That's what she did. He set a typewriter up and she went directly to work. They would watch the show during lunch. If Bell saw something he did not like onscreen, when the show finished airing he would call directly to the control booth and blast Conboy....LOL Alden also said when she met Bell, he told her he had been invited to speak to a college class about writing soaps and they pretty much tore him apart for writing bottom of the barrel trash. So when he met Alden, he was ecstatic that a young person of her generation wanted to write for daytime.

I think it is the Horton house. That round window is a dead give away. I wonder who the actress was in the commercial and if she went to do anything like soaps etc...? I can see that brides maid crying as Laura marries Mickey ( she's in love with him) and Laura really loves Bill....LOL

I found this Dial soap commercial from 1968 or 1969. I think the house set used is a re-dressed Horton living room.

It looks like her. The guy she is dumping it on is Cash the owner and male stripper of The Bayou where Nikki worked. John Gibson who played the part really was a male stripper and model. He was engaged to marry Vanna White, but was killed in a plane crash in 1986. He and Vanna were already an item when he was on Y&R and she started on Wheel in 1982.

I'm surprised that Barbara Parkins did not go on to be a bigger success after Peyton Place. She could have easily it into Dynasty, The Colby's. It's hard for me to watch Ryan O'Neal in anything since his personal life has effected his children. Farrah Fawcett evolved into a totally different person after hooking up with him. Compare interviews with her in the 70's and then flash forward to the 90's and 2000's when she started appearing on Letterman etc...acting bizarre

Many of you probably know that Katherine Kelly Lang started out in the 1979 roller disco film " Skatetown U.S.A." with Patrick Swayze. For decades the movie was never seen on a home video release. Some people joked that Swayze bought up all the rights to bury it. Last year the movie was released on DVD. I ran across this hilarious review I just wanted to share. That sounds hilarious. He was cringe worthy a lot of the time. He was once married to K.T. Stevens (Vanessa Prentiss on Y&R) and they had 2 sons. Chris Marlowe is one of them. He had a third child with his wife after his divorce from Stevens.

How was Marlowe in the role circa 1969-75 ? I have seen his later work and he was awful. It was uncomfortable to see him stumble through a scene.

There was some 1980 episodes of the show on youtube and boy was Hugh Marlowe BAD. He seemed like he was reading a teleprompter and all zoned out. There was one scene where he was talking to Pat on the sofa and it was uncomfortable to watch.

That's interesting she was still doing the soap when that movie took off. There seemed to be a lot of actors with promising careers from those days that show up a lot on old TV shows and their careers fizzled out. Another actor that faded also with the last named " Burns" was Michael Burns. He played in tons of stuff back then. He played Moondoggie in the film 1972 TV film "Gidget Get's Married" with Macdonald Carey. Soap vets William Gray Espy, Judith McConnell, and Helen Funai also appeared.
