  1. Cybercrime, cyber espionage is a huge deal and could be a part of private investigations/security. You have forensic pathologists who exclusively work in investigating financial crimes. The problem is in the lack of ability to write these types of stories and kinds of characterizations. There is much that Chance could do as a PI, a number of whom are gainfully employed in big cities, particularly in drug and domestic crimes but Y&R has not demonstrated any capability to write these types of stories. Look at the mess they made on the human trafficking story they tried to do years ago.
  2. There is a thread but it is pre 2000 soap slaps, in the Cancelled Soaps thread. This could be a Post 2000 thread, so there’s no confusion, just a suggestion, maybe.
  3. Argentinians claimed to have been dissatisfied with both of their presidential candidates, so over half of their voting population decided to vote for the most extreme- a man who campaigned on a abolishing abortion, although the people recent voted to legalize abortion. And that isn’t even Millie’s most extreme proposition. There’s also his proposal to legalize the harvesting and sale of human organs. Millei, a man who runs neck and neck with Trump for the president with the worst hairstyle in the 21st century. We’ll see how this goes. Argentina has always had a predilection towards fascists and despots. They do, in fact, have a active legacy of providing hospitality to Nazis and their spawn, after all.
  4. The Carter Family just announced a few days ago that she had entered in home hospice with President Carter. R.I.P. Mrs. Carter who leaves her own legacy as a former First Lady and humanitarian. A life spent in true service.
  5. Maybe in ‘84 but by early ‘85, Barbara was seemingly all over town complaining to Kim and Lisa and anyone who would listen about Brian and apparently how insensitive he was. I remember that weird incident that happened before the infamous costume ball (too bad most of those episodes are not on YouTube) where Barbara and Brian had broken up for five minutes and Brian asked out his colleague at the Argus and oops, Barbara decides to accept Brian’s invitation to the ball and promptly announces that Brian asked her, right to the crestfallen colleague’s face, then proceeds to blame Brian for mishandling the situation. I wouldn’t be surprised if in previous years, Barbara was in a bubble because James kept her pretty isolated for awhile, and even her storylines with Gunnar seemed fairly self-contained. At least with Brian, that seemed like the beginning of her world expanding. It just doesn’t seem like there are that many episodes with Kirk on YouTube though. Although again, Barbara and Lisa were business partners and Kirk spent a good amount of time at Lisa’s when Marcy lived with Lisa. And didn’t Marcy also work at the boutique?
  6. They probably did since Barbara was engaged to Brian and Kirk was Brian’s little brother, not to mention the fact that Barbara’s younger sister Frannie was once the love of Kirk’s life, but we’re unlikely to see those scenes on YouTube since so much of 1984 and 1985 episodes are missing.
  7. Welp, that anecdote was from Zenk herself. Apparently, there were three actresses before CZ. Has anyone ever interviewed Judi Rolin to find out what her experience was on the show? I think I will do a quick check to see if there is anything out there. I am intrigued.
  8. Whaat? That was fast! https://www.cbsnews.com/news/cassie-ventura-sean-diddy-combs-settlement-lawsuit-alleging-abuse-rape/
  9. A good refresher Errol I figured it was the press release that put it out there. I only recall because of a funny anecdote that Colleen Zenk told about taking over the role and basically spending the first few episodes going around apologizing for what the character had done under a different actress. I guess even then the character had started to become something of a troublemaker.
  10. And it likely happened because he probably observed Margaret Reed and Michael Swan as a couple. Of course, by the time he paired Shannon and Duncan together, the real life couple had already broken up. As good as Margaret Reed was in the role, I still had a hard time seeing what Shannon truly saw in Duncan and his ridiculous personal history. I could see what Barbara might have seen in Duncan, an air of mystery similar to her ex husband James but Shannon originally didn’t seem the type that would want to go chasing after someone with such a fixation on maintaining an obvious lack of transparency.
  11. Colleen is marvelous but I don’t think she originated the role of Barbara Ryan on ATWT, did she? Weren’t there a couple of actresses who were in the role before her? Obviously she was the most memorable actress to play the character and the longest running one.
  12. I know some people thought Brian was too straight-laced for her but I enjoyed the contrast at times and Brian would sometimes become fiery when he thought anyone was trying to get between he and Shannon (which of course, is eventually what happened). But Shannon was the living embodiment of “quirky” before the trait became an actual thing.
  13. Absolutely. I remember that episode too. They had to go from Harlem to Junior’s which is in downtown Brooklyn, all for his cheesecake, a lengthy journey by subway, let alone on foot. Just insane and sadistic. Back then, one got a sense that in the late 90s to the early part of the 00s, those Bad Boy folks really thought they ran things.
  14. Mase certainly didn’t take that deal. It makes me wonder how many artists actually took the deal, if any. I imagine that he had little need to buy the silence of most of the male artists, unless they were witnesses to some incident, but the no disparaging comments aspect would probably interest Combs with the male artists as well as the female artists. I am curious though, as to how many former artists took that deal. Sadly, nothing surprises me about the depravity of the alleged behavior of these so-called titans of the music industry. I had been warned by some women who had shifted out of the music industry into other aspects of the entertainment industry, that some of the things that went on in the music industry were revolting. You know it’s bad when women are fleeing the music industry to “escape” to the film industry. Honestly, I don’t know much about Cassie as I stopped listening to mainstream R&B music about 15 years ago, but I do remember that I couldn’t make it through watching Making The Band because I got the distinct impression that Combs enjoyed humiliating the aspiring musicians on that show. It’s not a giant leap from smaller but persistent humiliations to big ones.
  15. To say that these allegations being made by the singer Cassie against Sean Combs are serious would be a massive understatement. A few months ago when the news was released that Combs had finally returned the masters of many of the songs that he had been holding the rights to back to the original artists, a few people speculated that some damaging revelations about him were likely soon to come out. That statement stuck in the back of my mind for some time and now it seems quite prescient.
  16. This ethics report on George Santos is wild! Using campaign funds for OnlyFans?!
  17. ‘Truth Social’ losing millions of dollars. Ha. https://www.nbcnews.com/politics/donald-trump/trumps-truth-social-site-lost-73-million-launched-2022-filing-shows-rcna125086
  18. This! And I haven’t watched this show in years but I have felt that was a mistake, much like changing Lily’s paternity on Y&R. Things that never made sense to me.
  19. Someone on SM alluded to a connection between the end of the SAG-AFTRA strike and actors going back to work and Tim Scott revealing that he had a girlfriend.
  20. It’s really too bad that there are so few episodes from 1985 on YouTube. It would be so much easier to piece these events and story plots together if we had the benefit of seeing the episodes again.
  21. So let me guess, is this Claire some sort of long lost daughter of Veronica Landers or something?
  22. Oh, I see. John was probably suspicious of Lisa as well then. Man, that storyline started out in such a meandering way. Remember the promo featuring Barbara blowing the rape whistle? Or was that a different year? I think that may have been somehow thought of as being tied to the stalking story too?
  23. Thanks for finding and sharing this. I went to Nitter so I could see the entire thread. In some ways, it’s sort of what I alluded to in my previous post but this really fleshes out the concerns beyond what I even mentioned. I didn’t want to sound like a wet blanket, which is why I mentioned the fact that SAG-AFTRA can always look to three years in re-negotiations to further refine the terms but it is the reason why I think the WGA negotiated a deal that is a bit more forward thinking, even though SAG-AFTRA obviously got more money up front. The fact that Justine Bateman is looking to the WGA’s focus of their negotiations as a model going forward speaks to that.
  24. From what I can recall, Lisa seemed to be very suspicious of John Dixon in the case of Kim’s stalker. There was a Christmas card that was sent to Kim that aroused suspicion and unease and appparently, John sent a similar card? I am think, either they all purchased their greeting cards from the same places or it was those holiday greeting cards that came in a pack that were somewhat generic and likely looked a lot alike. In terms of the Marie Kovacs murder, there seemed to be a few would be suspects but the main suspect was Kevin Gibson, Frannie’s soon to be ex-boyfriend, who was so exasperated by the antics of Marie that he angrily declared in a room full of people, that he could just choke her.
  25. Honestly, I thought Kim giving Seth the business was more about lingering feelings for how he hurt Frannie and yes, with a bit of concern/confusion about how seemingly quickly he’d moved on from Frannie, then Sabrina and then Betsy. If anything, her situation was probably more comparable to when Seth slept with Sabrina while still engaged to Frannie. I thought those feelings were likely all bundled up together. There is some cognitive dissonance on Kim’s part, of course but that was probably a very human realistic, far from perfect side of Kim.
