  1. The thing is, unlike Goutman, if the show needed a particular character to return, Wheeler was willing to go the extra mile to bring that person on, be it Peter Simon, Grant Aleksander, Lisa Brown, etc. Goutman seemingly didn't give two sh!ts because he indeed did burn plenty of bridges. Wheeler despite her many faults, did give the show an extra year or two after 2007.
  2. Today really made me think about GL and how much I miss it, of course it would be expected. It's insane how it's been a year since it went off the air, yet feels as if it happened only yesterday.
  3. How was the 30th Anniversary of AW? Was it well received?
  4. Thanks saynotoursoap for all the info in this thread. I was wondering if someone could help me with the introduction of Ann Larimer? I know she was involved with Nick and Althea early on in her run, and then became an interloper for Steve and Carolee's marriage. Did Ann and Nick know each other before Ann arrived in town and that was how she was able to come between Nick and Althea? Also what was the name of Dr. Terri Foster's mother on the show? I know she worked for Viveca Strand as a maid.
  5. Linda Grover's tenure also intrigues me in regards to how it was accepted by viewers, because from the many synopsis Frenchfan has posted, it seemed as if she included some class warfare in her writing with Nola trying to fit into the wealthy world of the Aldrich family. As for Levin and Cherrill, for two writers are basically unknown today, their material does seem fairly good.
  6. ^It's not like the story would have affected Matt's "masculinity" as Execs assumed, I mean it's been said here multiple times that the men on The Doctors had more balls than most of the men on daytime, so what's a simple story about male menopause going to hurt?
  7. Thank you so much for these Bojangles. This thread is literally a fountain of information for this little known soap The Doctors. I really appreciate all the information everyone has contributed to this thread.
  8. ^About Matt/Maggie, so between the time Maggie had an affair with Kyle and the end of the show, the two had not been apart until the finale? There was a reunion, and another break up I assume, somewhere between 77-82?
  9. Who penned the Jennifer-kills-Eunice storyline?
  10. To answer for saynotoursoap, yes Ian Ziering did play Erich in the early 80s.
  11. Again...why is General Hospital on air and The Doctors is not? Of course I'm joking, but it's stories like those that prove that The Doctors was the medical drama that was far superior than it's rival GH in the 70s.
  12. Thanks so much saynotoursoap for this information, it was very well needed by me. Interesting I dind't know Luke owned a club across from the hospital named Andre's. I just learned of this today from FrenchFan's recaps from the 70s(Thank you so much for those!). In regards to Marland's tenure, I can see where having Maggie physically cheat on Matt was a little too much to take for older viewers. Emotional affair; okay, but to sleep with Kyle, who was also married was quite a leap of faith for fans. A few questions: What about the Medicine Man, what was it? What happened to Barney, did he die as well? What happened to Nick? Was he still alive when the show went off the air? What was the story of Erich's bio mom, Karen? How did she exit the show?
  13. I don't think any other soap really celebrated the 4th of July like GL did. The Bauer BBQ was a staple on the show for years, and often used as a event to heighten the stakes in a story, unlike other soaps.
  14. Peluso as Amanda would have been epic...however it's interesting that Toby's Amanda still on GL around the time Peluso took the role of Lila on AW. Interesting to see that Paul Michael Valley auditioned for the role of Mallet, I imagine that PMV would have had excellent chemistry with Beth Ehlers.
  15. That promo has me quite hyped for the new season.
  16. Among some of the most emotional scenes last night, def Alex/Lexie, Dr. Bailey/Mandy Moore/the other doctor were one of the most heart wrenching scenes to watch.
  17. Elton John- Tiny Dancer
  18. Can't believe that it's been a year since notice of GL's cancellation was sent out.
  19. Alot of the relatinships on the show at that (93-95) should have been more than what we saw on screen, including Eve and Ed IMO. Of course not one single character was ever able to replace Maureen, but the thought of Ed going from the saintly Maureen to the neurotic town outcast that was Eve, with the two of them working at Cedars as well, was material that the show simply didn't explore enough for my taste.
  20. I never understood why the show was so blind when it came to reuniting Rick and Mindy. They would either come close to reuniting, or go their separate ways; I think the show missed a gold mine of opportunity there, esp. with Mindy's difficult pregnancy with Roger and all, and Rick wanting to be a family man. I never knew why the show never really made MOL the lead of the show, I guess it was just the way the writers saw things. Besides, Rick was a Bauer, an adult Bauer at that. I always thought that the show missed the boat with not making Felicia Boudreau an actual three-dimensional character rather than just someone who showed up for the holidays and what not. Despite the plethora of strong willed and independent women this show has had since its inception, they could have really built Felicia up as a well respected shrink in the community, in addition harboring some flaws herself. The only time I was truly interested in the Boudreaux family was under Gold, lol...who were the regime that created them, which in some way was the last time the family as a whole felt real to me.
  21. To look at that TPTB list is very saddening. I mean with the exception of the Corringtons (Were they good at the show?) Not one single writer was able to stay on the show for a year from 1980 to it's cancellation in 1986.
  22. I just found this little gem today. It starts around 2:58 and I love the sax that plays in the background. Most likely the show used that particular score due to the fact that the character of Hamp Speakes played a sax, I guess one could call it "Hamp's Theme". Actually in other segments of this episode, the same sax can be heard in the background, but not as long like in this scene.
  23. I discovered a EON montage on YouTube today, and it left me wondering, why wasn't this show such a hit? I mean it's premise seems to be mystery and adventure, which was all the rage in the 80s. It really puzzles me.
  24. I'm kind of surprised, but in a way not really. Gay marriage and Cheney. He supports it. Cheney "Freedom for everyone."
