  1. About the Show The Heritage of Hope is a fan fiction based on the now defunct soap The Doctors. The Doctors was a soap that aired on NBC from April 1, 1963 to December 31, 1982. The Heritage of Hope begins at the time when The Doctors ended, in the year 1983. However the twist is that the one of the show’s leading characters, Dr. Steve Aldrich (Laurence Lau) has been in a coma for the last three years. Steve’s coma erases the last three years of The Doctors but creates a mystery of sorts, of what has really happened while our leading doctor was sleeping. Like The Doctors, Heritage of Hope is set in Madison. The show revolves around the lives of four doctors, Matt Powers (Jerry ver Dorn), Maggie Fielding (Deborah Adair), Althea Davis (Robin Mattson), and Steve Aldrich whom all work at Hope Memorial Hospital. Accompanying the medical Powers family and the wealthy Aldrich family are the poor and struggling Simpson, Parker, and Kalikrates families and the wealthy Winthrop and Kincaid families.
  2. In the 1982 SOD, it says that Nola was pregnant with Billy's baby and was going to marry him. Was that ever resolved before the show ended in Dec. of that year?
  3. I saw this report on MSNBC, and they've always included the newsmakers of the year in the nativity scene. The President of Italy, Carla Bruni and her husband are also in the nativity scene.
  4. Thought I'd revive the old thread because I'm reviving this old soap for my fan fiction Just was wondering if anyone knew how Penny Davis died, and whatever became of Buddy Davis? A piece of information I'm not certain about, but Althea was a psychiatristcorrect?
  5. So from the 1976-1977 synopsis that were posted in the discussion area... -Jason was an attorney, didn't know that -What ever happened to Eleanor Conrad? -Maggie cheated on Matt with a guy named Kyle! Never knew that, thought they were the Tom and Alice (DAYS) of the show.
  6. From reading some summaries from the first few years of Loving, I can honestly say that the stories, at least on paper, seemed so interesting and if I had been born then (I wasn't born until 5 years after the debut) I would have watched. The dynamic of the Alden family tied in with Shana's arrival thanks to Dane, and the revealation that Dane was Jack's father, all sounds like juicy soap to me. The soap soap IMO seems very interesting up until some point around 88/89. Question: Reading one of the summaries from the early 90s, I notice that Bernard Barrow's character had a son in the mob, and was involved with Ava. Was this story written by Guza?
  7. Thanks dc and SteveFrame for all your help, much appreciated!
  8. A few questions... What happened to Doreen Aldrich, and was she ever given a maiden name? Other than M.J., was there any other people introduced as Carolee's family? So Mona's marriage & probably divorce to Winston Croft happened off screen? So was it ever revealed as to who was Steve and Jason's father? Who were Mike Power's kid(s)? In his teenage/adult years Billy had always been portrayed as an villian? And did Toni actually die?
  9. Thanks so much everyone for the information, I've been looking all around the internet for information on this once great soap. Steve thanks for the extra insight into the history of The Doctors. It clears a variety of confusion about the characters. So Carolee's maiden name was Match, and not Simpson? For some reason I had thought that, but it makes sense as to why M.J. and Carolee were sisters. Didn't realize that Doreen was Jason's ex-wife, not just another Aldrich since IMDb didn't have her maiden name listed. Of course its most of the info on IMDb that's caused the confusion for me. As for other Aldrich's, Erich was Steve and Carolee's son, and Stephanie was(?) their daughter also?
  10. How did this soap end? What happened to characters like Mona, Mike, Steve, and Carolee?
  11. You guys are doing a terrific job with the blog.
  12. Good episode! This episode still has some good drama, but a variety of laugh out loud moments also! I'm intrgued about Rufus's arrival.
  13. Great episode. Loved Robert's entrance, seems so much like him to make such a entrance lol. Loved the Monica and Alan scenes. I adore the way you are writing them.
  14. The National-Mistaken For Strangers
  15. Love Sister Patterson. Love that! That really had me laughing out loud.
  16. Good episode. Good to see that you introduced another attorney. I like the scenes involving Bobbie. I found myself feeling sorry for her. I also like how you wrote that last Ric and Alexis scene. I've always wanted to like this couple, but Guza has given me plenty of reasons not to. That could change with you. Anyways overall a well written episode. Keep up the good work!
  17. Good episode. Love feisty Sami, and her telling off Stefano. The previews have me intrgued, Bell and Mike? Can't wait to read that!
  18. Wow, Daniel is dead. That was awesome cliffhanger. Of course I got to comment on the Lisa/Judge Judy scenes.....priceless!!! Loved it all. Great job with this episode. Keep up the good work.
  19. Wow. Sami is in a coma. One of my favorite parts was Tony's outburst at Cassie.
