  1. Thanks dc. I know we all went into this before but I still don't get recasting Doug, and that actor just seems a bit pointless. I wonder what was going on with Cec, if they just kept recasting her because they didn't like the actresses, or if the actresses left of their own choice. Rebecca Staab was on GL by late 1985 and Alice Haining was on OLTL by mid-86, I believe. I wonder if Alice knew someone at ABC Daytime - she floated around their soaps for 2-3 years. This should be mid-September 1985 Digest.
  2. Thanks for sharing this. I'm not a big fan of that clip they chose, but I liked the interview. Paul O'Grady can be a little pushy but he's also able to put his guests at ease. I never knew Charlie Brooks was on a show with Jane Danson. It's always nice to hear Charlie talk about Janine, although I do think Janine cares what people think - she just doesn't like to show it.

  4. Yes it is. That conversation is hilarious, especially as the padding becomes more and more apparent. <ring> Vivian: Yeah? Man: Can I talk to... Vivian: You are! Man: May I speak to Mr. Bancroft. Iris: Hello? Man: Yes. I need to... Iris: Who is this? Man: May I... Iris: What? Man: I need to speak to Mr. Bancroft. Iris: Why? Man: John Randolph is dead. Iris: Oh no! John Randolph is dead! Man: Yes! Iris: Why? Man: He... <click> Iris: I lost the connection! Brian: Was that the phone? Iris: Someone called for you. Brian: Why? Iris: They said they had bad news, something about John Randolph is dead! Brian: John Randolph is dead? Vivian: Oh no! Iris: How awful! Brian: I have to find out why. <phone rings> Man: John Randolph is dead! I was trying to call you! Brian: How? Why? Who? What? When? Where?
  5. I'm more interested in why Marlena Laird is dressed like a supervillainess from the old Spiderwoman comic.

  7. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-02ipUbp0Gg&feature=related Who is the best man giving the toast for Stacey and Jack? Does Roya Megnot remind anyone else of Barbara Luna? I love that ugly little scene she had with Gwyn. This is what I watch soaps for. Roya is stunning, even with the Muppet she's wearing. The stuff with Steve and Trisha seems a little pedestrian, although he has a very nice a$$. It's weird to see Linden Ashby and Susan Walters play brother and sister. Linden has more spark here than I've ever seen him show in any role. It's strange that two of my favorite soap actresses (Alice Haining and Colleen Dion) played Cecilia. Another actress played her too, right? Who was that again? Alice seems miscast as Cec. It's strange seeing her in leathers.

  9. I think I mislabeled one or more of the recaps. What I labeled August 27 may be August 13. Anyway, this is the next recap, which I guess would be August 27.
  10. April 23, 1985 recap and July 2, 1985 recap.
  11. I'm not sure of the exact date of the Digest on this - comparing to the July 15, 1986 Digest recap I posted on the last page, I think this must be about a month later?

  14. Wow, I had no idea it wasn't the same Tony. That is crazy. I knew Kelly left in May 1987 - I just wondered why she didn't go with her family immediately, if that meant they had some plans for her they didn't follow up on. I wonder if the show always planned to only have Marty posing as April's mother or if that was a story change. The Marty/Jim stuff sounds like it could have been interesting, but the show wrote out everyone but Ned en masse in fall 1987, it looks like (or perhaps Ned went too? He didn't in the last recap I posted). I notice that the bad guys blackmailing April threatened to disfigure Marty, which is the same threat used against Lorna a few years earlier. Did you know Sherrie came back for Ava's and Clay's wedding? I didn't. I wonder why they didn't ever bring her back again - they could have used her instead of Carly, or used her as well as Carly. Thanks for telling me about Norma. I think I went to the Ilene fansite a long time ago but haven't in the last few years. I will have to look for that.
  15. November 3, 1987 Digest. I will type up the last part, which was a fragment of another page.

  18. I was reading in a January 1968 TV Picture Life daytime roundup thing, and in the section for LIAMST, they say that before the show began airing, Leslie Charleson replaced Brooke Mills. Have any of you ever heard anything about this?
  19. Sedrick, dc, was Elizabeth Savage playing Gwyn at the time of the story with Norma? How long was Ilene Kristen around exactly? Was her character very different than Delia (or Roxy)? Why exactly would they have two characters named Rick in a two year period? Trisha dates/uses Rick as a beard, then a few years later another man named Rick shows up and befriends her and is her long lost brother. Is it me or is the Dolly story repulsive and way too much for a daytime soap? Dolly essentially is raped repeatedly because she needs to find her child who is being sexually exploited? That's just awful. I wonder if Marland gave the alcoholism story to Ann that he initially had going with Lily Slater's mother. Do you know what happened to Jenny after she helped make sure Cabot was acquitted of Nick's murder? I assume they found out at some point that she was the killer. So how long exactly was Kelly around after Zack and Lorna left? Did they have story plans for Kelly that they never followed up on, or were they just waiting until her contractual cycle was up? I like your idea about Tony/Cec. I'm not sure why they wrote Tony out, unless the actor wanted to leave. He'd been there for 2-3 years by that point and could have been a B-leading man, especially with all the trouble finding a Curtis. I find Stacey annoying in some of these recaps, especially around the time of the custody battle. Is anyone else surprised at how long the custody battle went on even when Tug and Sherrie came to town to claim their son? Usually a show would just give the baby back to them and they'd go. Did they ever get their son or was this the JJ that Stacey raised until her death? dc, I wanted to apologize for not posting these in the right order. That may be a reason why they seem so disjointed. I have them all over the place and I just post them when I find them and hope people can patch the dates together.
  20. Yes he is! September 8, 1987 Digest.
  21. You can see some clips with her here, just type in Lisa in the search box on the channel. http://www.youtube.com/user/veggieburgermeister She's also in some of this set of clips, I think.
  22. I know what you mean. I never have written because I always assume they never read it. Now I regret that.
