  1. Sorry about that. The entire episode is up on Youtube now. Marland wrote some campy stuff here and there, like with Lillith. I do wonder if Marie and Kevin were already planned before he arrived, and he just fit them into the Doug Cummings story he had planned. Steven Weber is really bad here...
  2. December 1969 TV Picture Life.

  4. I think it's something about the lighting in this episode. It's the best I've ever seen Scott look in this era of ATWT. Did you get to watch the whole thing? How bizarre/hilarious was that with Heather as Tina Turner and Marie Kovac as Madonna. The Marie death story is kind of clumsy, but the show was smart to center this around core characters, like Frannie.
  5. I loved Hal and Barbara. They balanced each other very well - he helped her calm down and she stopped him from being too hangdog. They were also a very believable couple, people who loved each other but never trusted each other, which led to many heartbreaks. This scene sort of sums up what touched me about them: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XQE7b1SKo8I I liked Emily and Hal quite a bit. The only time I tolerated KMH was when she was with men who kept her from getting into hysterics. Hal was such a kind man and he helped get Emily some self-respect and some peace. It was just what she needed. That, and Jef Hamlin, are the only two non-awful KMH pairings.
  6. It's Christmas in May! A November 1985 episode is being uploaded on Youtube. I guess Craig/Sierra were always angst on top of angst and more angst. Scott Bryce was so gorgeous. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UikTS-BCkDs
  7. Thanks for sharing all this.
  8. The oldest Kennedy son is returning. I guess he will be playing out Libby's story. I didn't even know about him I thought it was just Libby and Billy. http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/soaps/s14/neighbours/news/a318540/neighbours-return-for-malcolm-kennedy.html
  9. Oh that's right I forgot about Passions. I thought Salem was set in limbo or some unknown place.
  10. Thanks. I wonder if this was the only soap set in New England. I didn't remember Susan Brown temped for Ann Flood (I wonder if that was Susan's daytime debut). Was this Tresa's only soap role aside from Another World?
  11. Scarlett is leaving Emmerdale. http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/soaps/s12/emmerdale/news/a318427/kelsey-beth-crossley-to-leave-emmerdale.html I thought she worked great with Jimmy and Carl, and was a good comic character too. I'm sorry that she is seen as unworthy compared to the worthless Barton dumbbells, 40 year old Amy, and sleepytime Mia.
  12. August 1960 TV Radio Mirror. Julie was the actress who walked off the set right before taping and a production assistant had to take her place.
  13. Maria was a camp goddess. No soap has been able to do camp like that in recent years (the closest was Jim Reilly). What made her work was that we saw her go mad, over time, bit by bit. The scene where she and Tina fight over a pair of scissors is a hoot.
  14. Maria is both repulsed and strangely flattered.
  15. September 20 and October 4.
  16. July 12 and July 26 Digest issues.
  17. The 1988 recaps I have are all over the place - these are what I can get at the moment. May 17 Digest. May 31 Digest (for some reason I don't have the second part of this)
  18. You missed Tim Gibbs Kevin in the parade of disastrous Kelly love interests. I wish Mia/Laura/Elaine had taken a "family" portrait of some kind - talk about stunning beauties. And enough hair to make Crystal Gayle weep. It's a charisma looks can never make up for. OLTL really was very good at this in the late 70's, with Judith Light, Steve Fletcher, Gerald Anthony. What OLTL did with those characters was so risky and fascinating, and yet it was so true to the show's message - these were the "others", the damaged, trying to get through life as best they could.
  19. I guess it's a compliment to Gerald that at his goofiest he looks the same as the Church Lady does at his "hottest." (and Gerald looked better in shirtless photos too...) Mike Storm had a very classic leading man look. It's a shame that OLTL lost interest in him and that we probably won't even get him back for the finale. He was crucial to Viki's character.
  20. They should sell those online in order to raise money for the center.
  21. This was mixed up in my 1988 stuff somehow. It's from an early October 1987 Digest.
  22. I know. It still bothers me that we will never see Marco again. He represented so much of what made OLTL unique. I also think, in his first run, Gerald was one of the most handsome men on the show.
  23. Thanks for saying that - I appreciate it. I sort of cheat compared to the hard work you do on your synopses. The work you did and Paul Raven has done are why I started putting synopses up. Your synopses from this era were fascinating to read and they helped me see how important they are as a historical document for daytime. When I'm done with the Loving stuff and some Doctors I will put up more of the early TV soap material I have (what little I have).
  24. OK that's all I have of 1983-1987 at the moment, aside from one or two I've misplaced. I'm really sorry about cluttering up the thread this way. I hope that you've enjoyed these and I have really enjoyed the conversations sparked about them. If you have anything else to say about them then please do, and if not, then I'm going to start posting some of what I have from 1988 on, so I hope you enjoy those. I also wanted to apologize if anything I post overlaps with Paul Raven's synopses - I know he spends a lot of time writing those up.
