  1. Thanks for letting us know @jam6242 I wish more of Meredith was available and that the character hadn't been forgotten in later years.
  2. Miguel is the Cher of Port Charles. I can't remember if Juan went to live with Miguel.
  3. I wasn't watching for most of the period Setton's Brook Lynn behaved this way (I just remember the mess of the character in the late '00s and I wasn't that involved even then). It sounds like an alien compared to how she is these days - she is written more like a heroine from a '50s or '60s soap. There's definitely more they could do with how suffocating the Qs can be to those who marry in the family. Monica had that problem and Monica was much stronger as a person than Chase has ever been.
  4. Thanks. That's who I was thinking of. Agnes did that and also liked to have the earth mothers/long-suffering mothers.
  5. That's a great idea. If they hadn't memory holed that entire period, they could bring it up.
  6. Sorry for not tagging you - I always end up forgetting someone. I always enjoy your thoughts on old ATWT and LoL material which is found. You're right. I do find Laura fascinating - maybe more here than in the other available episodes of her as she seems to be in full ice-cold mother mode (Irna really had some mother issues). I think some other woman replaces Laura as the ice-cold rich mother in the late '50s. It is very realistic that, IIRC, Laura is never happy with anyone Dick gets involved with. I imagine whoever he gets with after he leaves LA (the show was still in LA all through the '50s right?) would get that same bitterly frosty shoulder.
  7. I've never been attracted to Cameron, although I get his appeal. I think the only reason he wants Willow is because she is a status symbol (the wife of the nephew who is the paragon of not one, but two families, which Drew had a close view of when he was dating Carly), and because she worshiped him. She made him feel special and good at a time no one else did. He's not chasing her, he's chasing the high. I think Chase is the same. He can feel righteous and noble while helping her. While he's with Brook Lynn and the Qs, he feels inferior.
  8. Crazy to say that in an interview. DAYS should always be building and building, not on pause, especially when you don't have a cast strong enough for that approach to work.
  9. There are a few but soaps never know how to use them and they are written out. Sasha on GH was similar to her, although Eve had stronger connections and Janet Grey was a more distinctive presence.
  10. That's a great way to put it, and part of the unique experience of GL.
  11. I have seen some of your synopses in another thread, but I would be interested here and I'm sure others would be too. Thanks for all you share.
  12. The first group are Meta Bauer, her husband Joe and stepson Joey. They are worrying over Joe's daughter Kathy, who had just been on trial for the death of her husband Bob Lang in a car accident, and is also pregnant. She is now married to Dick Grant, whom she'd wanted to be with all along, and he thinks the baby is his (it's not). The second group are Dick's parents, Laura and Richard. Laura hates Kathy and sees her as ruining the reputation and future of Dick.
  13. I think there was some, but too late in the life of the show, especially for JR.
  14. @vetsoapfan @slick jones @Soaplovers @Tisy-Lish @Soapsuds @SoapDope78 @FrenchFan @Khan @jam6242 @Vee @Sapounopera @soapfan770 @Paul Raven @P.J. @DeeVee @Mitch64 @GL95 @Kane @alwaysAMC @Spoon @GL Oldtimer @kalbir @dc11786 @zanereed @Maxim @Franko @BoldRestless @Liberty City @Reverend Ruthledge @Speed Racer The channel that tends to provide a few brand new vintage episodes a year for various soaps has found another for GL. In good quality too. April 1, 1953. I checked and couldn't find the episode elsewhere, although there is already some March and April around. There's always a double-edged sword in so much of one period being around when so much else is gone but I'm still very grateful and I'm sure you will be too. Most of this is just the Roberts and the Grants, the former worrying about Kathy and the latter having Laura Grant at her most imperious in her schemes to break up Dick and Kathy. One surprise is we actually get to see Joey Roberts. I assume this is Tarry Green. I don't think we've ever seen him before, although I may be wrong. I was going to say he looks a bit old for 18 but this is 1953...not sure how old Green was but I see he had been in Broadway shows starting in 1951.
  15. Thanks for all you do, and the quick response. I guess my days of watching trashy '90s movies still have occasional use.
  16. @slick jones I can't find any closing credits for this episode. Is the doctor who pops up in this a few times in the first six minutes Craig Stepp? Or is it another actor? I see that it isn't included in your list of Craig's credits but if it was an unidentified part then we may not know who the actor is.
  17. Trying to watch some of Jean's interview...I don't try to go out of my way to criticize Locher, but he's doing a lot of forced laughing here, seems patronizing, and clearly doesn't have much awareness of Jean's work, especially Loving. Jean barely speaks about Loving. Alan asks how he and Genie felt about moving over to Loving. He said they felt no pressure as they knew they wouldn't be to blame if the show was canceled, and he enjoyed spending time with her and Jonathan Frakes. He talks about the twin story. He says in so many words that the writing was bad, and production couldn't do anything to help. He enjoyed getting to play dual roles, the process. Alan asks him about Jeremy's death (Alan says Gilbert died - wrong!). Jean laughed and recounted the murder. He said ABC approached him about killing off Jeremy by saying they could just bring the other one (Gilbert) back. He said fine. He knew the show was doomed anyway.
  18. I could see him ending up in some type of stuff like those vertical videos that are made very cheaply, although that's probably not something the show would care about getting into.
  19. Thanks @Franko I don't know if I'll ever get around to watching this period, so a week-by-week breakdown is wonderful.
  20. That's a great idea - given the current state of mergers and evil money men I could see Drew buying a major studio and bringing Dillon under his wing to spite Tracy.
  21. A shame they never did much for Dillon when he was around.
  22. I do think Michael and Willow have some similarities to Alan and Monica (more than AJ and Carly did), so I could see that type of tense reunion working, but I agree I'd rather see Michael put in a strong new pairing for a while at least. You knew that Monica was always going to be Alan's forever - he was even brought into the show for her. Michael has a decade history of other women. Willow also has seemingly no love for Michael, even if Michael may still love her underneath all his disgust.
  23. After reading Ben Affleck and Matt Damon's recent comments of how they were told by Netflix to recap the plot 3-4 times during scenes for their movie due to viewers being busy on their phones, I appreciate the intelligence and respect Slesar carried in his work even more.
